“Good try from the owner.. but...”
Reviewed 12 January 2013

Traveling with 2 small kids´s and my wife. we booked a 4 person bungalow near ending of the hotel´s area.

Inside room everything was Ok, only ALL the 3 day´s when we stay there they did have problem with water heater´s connection. And View from that room is straight to another hotel´s wall!

So i wound think i get more better hotel if compare what i was paying for!

And the behavior of the owners thai wife..... never in my 36 times in thailand see something bad like that front of a paying customer..!!
maybe she did think that i not andestand any thai when she talk with my wife!

4 nights in this hotel that we wanted to quit after the 1st night. Not a resort for sure, no beach, food not good except breakfast, bungalows which should all be pulled down and rebuilt to standard. No fly screens so no possibility to open door or window without being attacked by mosquitoes. Avoid bungalow 2 which was a disgrace. Cockroaches, mosquitoes, horrible smell of sewer and God knows what else, small room for so called 2 couples. It took us 2 days to get rid of the smell on our clothes. No amenities for bathroom. I complained after the 1st night and was ready to leave but owner offered another bungalow with a view on another hotel built just in front of that same bungalow. Not opened yet but the day it will the guests will have to deal with the air conditioning units right at the same level of room. No beach so necessity to take the shuttle to go to nearby beach 3 kms away. We ended by renting a scooter across the road for US$6.50 per day. Taxi too expensive, a rip-off actually!... Certainly you can find better hotel in Koh Chang.

Room Tip: Avoid Bungalow 2. And take ear plugs if you want to stay there as every night and way into the night...

Hotel was nice relaxing spot in the country with nice jaccuzi to relax in tho see the sun go down.
Sometimes wildlife (ants) came a bit too close (on bed). Rooms a bit pokey but breakfasts were nice and staff always friendly. Had to go to Kai Bae 8 KM north for beach, nightlife and shops.

Resort? That's a stretch. Wellness? You've got to be kidding. There is a woman there offering massages and a sign claiming that all food is organic. If I had come to this hotel actually hoping for wellness, I would be deeply disappointed.

We booked a bungalow and the room with 2 full sized beds. The bungalows seemed fine although quite small. The 'family room' dank, dark and the bathroom smelled so badly that if the door was left open you thought you might be living in a badly maintained dog park. We had been traveling through Thailand for 2 months and this was by far the most grim room we stayed in, and no where near the cheapest.

The hotel might be 150m from the beach, but not even close to beach front. When standing on the top step leading from the restaurant to the pool you can see a bit of ocean.

Lonely beach is actually 1 - 1.5 km away. They do provide a daily shuttle that will drop you at a beach at 11am and pick you up at 5. This beach is covered with restaurants and bars and you cannot sit on the sand without ordering a drink or food. They offer no free shuttle taking you into town and no ferry pick up. If you do want to go elsewhere you can hire their shuttle for what I thought were pretty inflated rates. To go to the ferry the they charge 600 baht which is 20USD. This seems outrageous as it cost 200 baht to get to Ko Chang from Bangkok.

Breakfast is fine. We ate one other meal there and then found alternatives. Again expensive and not good. There is a sign outside that says 'First-Bio Organic Restaurant'. I can only assume the hotel claims that they use ORGANIC and farm fresh products. No doubt the farm fresh is true to a certain extent, but I was there a week and saw not a single product that was labeled organic.

They give you free water on your first day. Nothing after that.

We saw someone fall thru the decking next to the pool. It's termite ridden or rotten.

The most senior staff seemed indifferent or annoyed. Everyone else was nice enough but there were some communication issues.

Once while I was changing after the pool the door to my room was opened by housekeeping staff. No knock, they just came right in to drop off laundry. . . and they got an eyeful. While standing there half naked I asked them to PLEASE COME BACK IN A MINUTE - which seemed weird that they didn't just shut the door after seeing me unclothed. But no, they just stood there looking amused until I walked over and shut the door myself.

AC is fine, wifi was fast enough.

There is also a very sweet dog.

I hate leaving such negative reviews. So many things can be overlooked and forgiven it the staff is nice and vice versa but this place was just a huge disappointment.

Room Tip: Bungalows are okay. The larger room with 2 beds is very depressing, damp and just miserable.

Nice resort with beautiful restaurant and garden full of orchids.
No direct beach access, but there is the hotel shuttle bus daily 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. to one of the best beaches (which for me is n o t ,white sand beach`!).
There is nothing much in the very little village, but many shared taxis passing by every 5 minutes.
The pool area is beautiful , but tiny and a bit narrow.
! Best breakfast included !

Room Tip: Our 1st bungalow was a bit disappointing , but after a nice talk we were upgrated to a family bungal...

We stayed here for two nights just before heading g to Cambodia. Koh Chang is a very quiet island and it rained the whole time it was here but the hotel definitely prevented that from been a negative.
The bungalows were beautiful, excellent bed with huge mirror, tv, mini bar, dressing gown slippers, fresh picked flowers etc. The bathroom was clean and air con was strong. I have stayed in a few bungalows whilst travelling and these were by tenfold the best.
Breakfast was good and although we only ate lunch here the portions were very big and low price.
The pool was good and the Jacuzzi although it was raining when we tried them out haha.
The service was fantastic, all staff were lovely, especially the young Thai boy who covers reception, restaurant and lots more.
The only problem we had was location as it was about 5-10 mins to the populated area of lonely beach (please eat at the Mexican! Amazing) which meant you had to find a taxi etc and wait but this wasn't exactly much hassle and the owner gave us a lift one evening for free!
I would definitely return in a heartbeat!

Owner is really cool, staff very friendly, rooms are nice, food a little expensive but very high quality. Some wear on the paths but that's normal. Daily cleanup, Internet everywhere. I highly recommend.
