“So much to do ”
Reviewed 9 June 2014 via mobile

We went to butlins for a family break and I have to say it was amazing we really enjoyed every minute of it as there is so much to do.
We opted to add food to our holiday package and although the meals were very basic they tasted good and had lots of choice.

Skegness on the whole was great as well with fantasy island well worth a look but keep a day spare as you will need it to get round everything

The only thing I would say is compared to other visits they did seem to be a little thin on the ground with redcoats and the entertainment was reasonable but not as good as normal

Hi Adam A

Thank you for reviewing your break - we're delighted it was 'amazing'!

We will pass your comments regarding our Redcoats and the entertainment on your break back to resort, as clearly these aspects didn't meet your expectations.

Thanks again

Stayed monday 2nd june to friday 6th of june. I have stayed in many holiday resorts in the uk for butlins, haven, pontins etc. To be honest this has been the best break so far. The resort has pretty much everything you could want and more. We had a 6yr old girl with us and a 3yr old boy and they was never bored as there is always more than enough going on. The entertainment is great and the staff are amazing and very helpful and pleasant. If i had to nit pick for negatives then in the apartments we stayed in there was no phone signal but as soon as you went outside it came back on. I would recommend a stay here and will be coming back soon for sure

Hi liam182

Wow, thank you for such a kind review! We think our breaks are great, but it's so much nicer when guests feel the same - and even more so when they write about it!

Hopefully we will see you again soon.

Thanks

We opted to stay in a Gold caravan this year, as we stayed in silver accomadation last year.
Travelled with wife & kids, (4 year old & 1 year old.)
Firstly children loved every minute & didn,t want to leave.
The reasons behind why we stayed in a caravan is price, about £300 cheaper
than silver apt, location, the caravan was actually closer to the skyline & tidier area.
Caravan was modern, clean, with veranda where you could sit & eat & enjoy a drink.
Personally think Butlins is expensive for everything, food, drink, rides that you have to
pay for.
THE BEACH TOILET FACILITIES! erh there is none! You have to go back into skyline to use the toilets there. So if you get caught short or have a dicky tummy there could be a problem, took daughter to sand dunes which is acceptable, but adults be prepared for 15 minute round trip!!
Skyline gang shows always good to watch for the young ones.
Couldn,t see Scooby doo due to the enormous demand to see it, queue early, think doors open
@ 6.45 but you need to queue from at least 5.30, we saw people sat on seats in the queue.

BUTLINS EXPENSIVE & LIMITED

A good day out @ Fantasy Island & only 15 mins walk, turn right at Butlins main entrance, or
catch the bus which are about every 20 mins.
Skegness also good day out which as Tesco, Morrisons, Lidl, & Iceland.
Shop around we managed to buy a 99er ice cream for 70 pence.

Room Tip: Gold caravans are better than silver apartments & £££s cheaper

Just brilliant. No matter what the weather it is always entertaining. The whole team from your lanscapers through to your Red Coats, everyone made time for a little chat if you wanted to. Always a friendly smile and a pleasant service no matter how busy they were. Didn't mind the queues for anything as when it was your turn you were the focus of their attention. Entertainment is amazing for the kids, so get them down at the front where appropriate, if you're not in the venue early enough you may have to stand but it is still a good show for the kids and still worth it.
The only thing you could say say is wrong with the holiday is out of their control, it's lazy parents who think that Red Coats are baby sitters there to look after their kids while they sit around getting wasted.
It's appartments are as described when you book, I've seen some posts about he appartments and lack of services but if people read the description properly you know what to expect. Appart from the lack of plug sockets they are perfect places to rest your head at night.

Room Tip: Personally I enjoy Ingoldmells anyway and anything you need atthe resort they do all they can tompro...

Spent the May bank holiday weekend with my family - arrived late on the Friday night to find the standard accommodation we booked swamped by ants. Pebblestone Place is very, very basic. Close to the facilities is a plus but the inside freaked my 10 year old out by the time we left. She does not want to stay at Butlin's again which is such a shame. Member of staff did come round on Friday night to wipe the surfaces which was appreciated but on Sunday night the carpet was moving, there we so many in the ants in the apartment, four slept in one room. I told the Reception on Monday morning and got a "sorry they chose your apartment"! Ruined the break.

Room Tip: Choose at least Silver standard!

Hi Boing7

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. Obviously we're disappointed your break fell short of your expectations.

Unfortunately ants are often a problem but we do our utmost to deal with them - we are so sorry you had this experience.

We really hope you and your family will choose to come back to Butlins so that we can put things right for you.

Thanks

Ok so I don't want to be picky so giving the positives first:
Great entertainment
Food I could not fault (premium dining package )
Splash swimming fantastic!!!!!
Complex was big with so much to do for all ages
Nice little grassy bit outside accommodation for kids to play.
Easy to park
Easy to check in
No ques for Splash or food
Staff are very helpful I had no complaints about staff at all.

Ok so the negatives:
Accommodation, we had silver room only, was tiny! We had a 1 year old and 3 yr old so it obviously wasn't child friendly for a baby , couldn't move in the main bedroom
Mega Negative: walls are ultra thin, we could hear all conversations next door, arguments. If your on ground floor you can hear upstairs walking about constantly, we thought they were going to fall through!! We couldn't sleep for the noise from above. The noise from other residents is also a problem because the walls are paper thin. If we come back will deffo be paying for Gold apartment.
Not everything is free!!!!! You had to pay for some of the rides, arcades, swing things, hook ducks etc. alcohols expensive too BUT there is a Spar shop which sells wine for £5 and larger etc.
Timing of breakfast annoyed me as didn't open until 8am? Our kids were up at 6am like most others and they were hungry but nothing is open until 8am it dsnt make sense?

I think it was more difficult for us as we had a 1 year old, if your kids are 3+ would be x10 easier. Our 3 year old loved it especially Splash world. We will come back but in 2 years time when our youngest is 3.

Tip: get top floors if you can, less noise, we left a day earlier because we couldn't sleep properly.

Been going for 7 years. This is the first year been dissatisfied. Poor activities. No Titian. Demolished kids favourite playfort. The fruit mine is no more replaced by bob builders yard, which is now in open air. My 11 yr old son was allowed through security on to beach without checking. Says no under 14 yrs old allowed out. Very few redcoats. Management staff in black blazers don't engage with you and there were more of them than red coats. Not happy this place is slipping.

Hi IDH2005

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review - obviously we're disappointed to read your comments but the only way we can hope to maintain our high standards is to listen to, and act upon, guest feedback.

Rest assured we will pass your comments on to resort, particularly with regard to the security at the entrance to the beach.

Hopefully you will feel able to return and give us a chance to match, and exceed, your expectations.

Thank you
