As above, really good, home made food. Good guest beer, should have got a taxi and stayed longer! Recommended....

We were recommended this pub for our evening meal whilst we were in the area so we thought we'd give it a try.
Although the décor and furniture are a bit dated, the meal was lovely, homemade and not overpriced. They had a specials board but we just wanted something simple and the chips, veg and steak and ale pie were great. There was only us in when we arrived, it was a little late but we had rang first to check if they were still serving meals (probably a good idea to book anyway as we were told they get busy).
We had a nice chat with the owner who told us the history of the rifle over the bar, amongst other things (whilst his wife was busy cooking our meal!!!)

Heard a few good things so decided to go and see for ourselves. Thoroughly recommend the shrimps for a starter, although the Camembert was a bit on the small side. Main course choices not as adventurous as the staters so had to settle for scampi with homemade chips and surprisingly roasted veg and hot red cabbage which made a nice change from the usual peas and scampi. Nice to have a real ale to wash it down with as well. Will call back :-)

We eloped to Gretna Green and headed up to this pub after our wedding for lunch, with our 4 year old son.
From the menu we both ate chicken stuffed with haggis, wrapped in bacon and served with a creamy whisky sauce. It was seriously the most delicious meal we had during our entire five week holiday in the Britain.
For dessert I had cheesecake off the specials board and my husband ate apple and blackberry pie with custard. Again, so yum.
I loved the ordinariness of this pub with its extraordinary food. When we finished eating my husband and son played pool while I chatted to the friendly owner. His wife is the fabulous cook.
I can't recommend it enough.
