Reviewed 26 April 2013

I stayed at Bansbari Lodge with a group of 15 people for three nights and Paid Rs.6000 per night for room and meal. Basic lunch with rice, dal and one veg, one non veg item and no bread. Dinner same but with bread. Linen not changed in the rooms on daily basis (only on request), towels are very dirty and probably three/four years old and still being used, rooms infested with mosquitoes and flies ( being on the boundary of a national park), NO ELECTRICITY AT NIGHT as the hotel has irregular power supply and they shut the power backup at night which was very inconvenient. The big advantage of this hotel is that it is adjacent to the park boundary and right next to the entry gate. It is not a place to stay with family and children. Wildlife lovers will have to compromise the standard amenities that a hotel should have to stay here. No Ac or cooling facility.

Bansbari Lodge, Manas National Park, is a very dilapidated hotel. The service and food were basic, the staff was friendly, and there was electricity sometimes. A visit to Manas National Park is normally an early morning visit on elephant back (6.:00-7:00 hours), a walk to the nearby village or tea estate (9:00-11:00 hours) and a drive in the afternoon (14:30 -18:00 hours). The rest of the time you are in the hotel! In such a situation I would like to have good accommodations and Bansbari Lodges does not offer that! It is not maintained and was not the type of hotel I like to stay in! However, there are not many options around Manas National Park. A shame, for the park is beautiful with forest and grassland along Manas River and up to the foothills of Himalayas and the boarder of Bhutan. I stayed for two full days and had an elephant ride in the morning and a drive in the afternoon. The rides and the drives were scenic and interesting, but I did not see many animals, some elephants, one group of gour (buffaloes), deer, wild hogs and some birds, including peacocks and hornbills. I did not see any rhinos or tigers! My trip to Manas was arranged through Jungle Travels India, Guwahati, Assam.

Stayed here November2012 and had a wonderful experience. Rooms are basic but spotless and comfortable with good showers. The food is excellent, some of the best we tasted in India. Staff very friendly and helpful. Ideal situation as so close to the park and no distance to go for an early morning elephant safari. The jeep safaris were ideal, through fabulous scenery and with very knowledgable guides which made all the difference. Some beautiful sunsets over the river.

Room Tip: Try to get one with a balcony facing the tea garden.

Stayed for 3 days after my event. Nice, clean and cosy rooms with balcony. good staff and very good food. had a nice stay with a wonder experience of the Manas Sancturay. The lodge is just next to the sanctuary gate where the elephant safari starts. in front of the lodge you have vast field of tea plantation. Do visit the tea factory nearby and good aromatic experience. if you are a nature lover then you will enjoy the sanctuary and the area around it. Do not forget to take dip in the manas river (wonderful experience)

Room Tip: Try making booking as early as possible as it really goes full during the season.

The location is wonderful...just outside the gate of Manas...(though there is another hotel on a mountain overlooking Manas river...it is difficult to book rooms there as they have an office only at Barpeta Road Tiger Project centre).

The ambiance is amazing ....the lobby wonderful.

the rooms are neat n clean and very comfortable.

every room has a balcony.

Lamp shades n other bamboo accessories are everywhere in this property...so much so that...u want to carry them home with u...

the food is awesome and sumptuous with the manager ensuring that the menu is changed regularly....the buffet is priced at Rs 250 for lunch, Rs 240 for dinner and 150 for breakfast... was unhappy only when...the delicacies went running out in the buffet.

The best part of the hotel is the Manager, Mr. Dutta (09957966014) who is always ready at ur beck and call and every helpful....he made our trip that much more successful....a big thank u to u Mr Dutta :)

Memorable trip...

We have been to Manas National park in October 2012. We booked four rooms with breakfast, lunch and dinner, 1 jeep safari, 1 elefant ride, 1 walk through the village and transfer from and to airport in Guwahati. Even though we came very late everything was prepared. The rooms are simple but the staff and their manager did everything to make us feel very good. The food was great. It was a great experience to be within the wildlife after a long time in Delhi

We visited the place on the 2nd of Jan 2012.The park was full of the new year revellers and one could hardly feel that it was a National park. The lodge itself is a building built by the ITDC and leased out to the Assam Bengal navigation at the height of Militancy in the area. The rooms are large and the facilities are basic . I mean that they are not plush but give the feel of a govt. guest house. The toilets are cleaned only once a day and are not well maintained. The lodge is a large structure in itself.
The staff is not professional but the Manager is a great guy and is always there to help you .To my horror I saw one of the staff member almost burn his hands in an effort to light the log fire using Gasolene ! The food was just mangeable -they serve fish curry made with local (cheap ) fish varieties.
But since there are no better places to stay so one has to make do with it.But a rafting trip and elephant safari will aptly compensate for the slight shortcomings in your stay.....

Room Tip: Try and get room on the front side of the first floor as they have a great view from the balcony.
