We were the first guests at the new self-catered accommodation at Blackdown Cottage. It was brilliant – the place is beautifully decorated and there is everything there you would need. The accommodation was a great size – separate kitchen and really good sized rooms with lots of home conforts. It was also one of the comfiest beds we have ever slept in.

It’s in an idyllic spot on beautiful moors, and there was lots to do around the area. We went on some great walks, as well as enjoying afternoon tea and some lovely pubs.

Robin and Helen will make you feel very welcome (but also respect your privacy) and provide lots of information on things to do and see in the area. We had a lovely relaxing break staying here and would highly recommend it.

We had a really comfortable evening staying with Robin and Helen. Arriving in a disheveled heap from cycling with our 2 x 20 year old boys was fine, hot showers and baths hugely appreciated We bought food to BBQ and this was quickly set up in the beautiful garden with a lovely westerly view of Brentor, accompanied by a bottle of red wine offered by our hosts at cost. We later gathered that they would have given us a lift to the pub. They very generously gave our boys rooms in their house, so they were also very comfortable. The ensuite large double room is beautifully appointed and the bed very comfortable. Heated towel rail is a big plus. Breakfast was fantastic and a great start for our cycling day. I would love to come back for a restful chill and stroll week.

Room Tip: Only one ensuite B&B room but our 20 year old boys were offered 2 other rooms in the house with...

This is a very small B&B - as far as we can tell they only seem to have a single room available. Having said that, it's a very nice room! The decoration is very tasteful and the location is quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed a good cooked breakfast and the owners were friendly and helpful - in particular Helen had lots of information on walking routes in Dartmoor and lent us a couple of maps.

What a great find. Such a peaceful place, just what we needed - so much so that we have booked again! The rooms are great (bedroom, bathroom & private dining room) - very well presented! Breakfasts fill you up so much there is no need for lunch. As others mention - nothing is too much trouble including being a 'taxi service' to the local pub/inns. Made my birthday weekend very special indeed.

Robin and Helen couldn't have been better hosts at this lovely b & b. A beautiful and peaceful setting on Dartmoor and a spotlessly clean bedroom and en-suite. The memory foam mattress on the bed gave us an extremely good nights sleep and the breakfast was first class. Nothing was too much trouble and being able to enjoy the garden and having use of the barbeque made this a memorable stay.
