We picked this place of fthe BBCanada website because it was in the right location for an overnight stop on the way back from Ottawa to Toronto to get back to the airport. One look at the photos of the swimming pool and we were hooked - made a booking online and thankfully received a prompt reply confirming our room. Buck House takes a bit of finding but I am sure it would be easy if you had a GPS or accurate directions. However its worth every minute of the wait until you pull up at a beautiful house, beside a lake at the end of a quiet lane. What a place! Its perfect! The owner Karen greeted us and made us feel at home with a tour of all the facilities and we were left to make ourselves comfortable, which for us meant lounging by the pool and taking a dip. The pool overlooks the lake and the owners own jetty, with boat alongside. We stayed by the pool until the sun went down to catch some relaxation after what had turned out to be a busy holiday. Karen had kindly recommended somewhere to eat in the nearby town and even made bookings for us so we didn't have to go searching for somewhere. When we came back we sat by the pool and enjoyed all the stars overhead because being deep in the country there is little light pollution and its SO peaceful! Breakfast was a HUGE feast in the gazebo on the decking overlooking the pool and was beautifully prepared by Karen. I have to say there was so much food neither of us could clear our plates, but we did the best we could! I wish we had discovered this place with an extra day to spare because I certainly would have been happy to stay longer. We were booked into the Serenity Room which had its own bathroom just opposite, containing a bath and a large walk in shower. The whole house is beautifully decorated and the lounge is large and sunny. There is a pool table downstairs but we didn't use that or the TV in the same room, there just wasn't time. I highly recommend this B & B, its in the Kawartha Lakes Region so I would imagine there is quite a lot to see and do if you have the time - boating, golfing, hiking and such like as well as the beautiful lakes, scenery and wildlife. If we are ever in the area again I would like to think we could return. Thanks Karen and Ian for a memorable visit.
