I get the hostel comments on trip advisor, the rooms are small and sparse and some appear to be without private bathroom and look onto the hill behind. Ours had a PB, comfortable bed and was fine. What makes this place are the forward views, mountains, fjord and boats. The young team were very helpful and the breakfast was one of the best in Iceland.

Room Tip: Try for front facing and private bathroom.

We sadly only stayed one night in this hotel but we loved it right from the start. It has a beautiful view over the harbour. The house itself is old but everything was rennovated a modern scandinavian style. The breakfast had a very good selection. And the staff was super nice.

During my 8-day stay in the Westfjords of Iceland I spent one night at Guesthouse Ráðagerði in Patreksfjörður village on the southern part of the Westfjords. My visit was in July just a month after Ráðagerði opened their doors to guests after a thorough renovation by the new owners. Ráðagerði is a small boutique hotel with 11 rooms both with and without a private bathroom. We stayed in a room with a shared bathroom. Everything was immaculately clean and welcoming and I loved the complimentary toiletries :) The view from our room and the restaurant area was of the fjord, mountains and the village, very lovely.

The Swiss woman working at the hotel surprised us by speaking flawless Icelandic, but she had been studying in Iceland for 3 years. I talked to one of the owners and she told me the history of the Ráðagerði house in which she was born and later on bought with her husband, her uncle and a local friend to renew it and open up a boutique hotel.

We had a lovely stay here and it was good to get a chat and advice from the locals :)

Ráðagerði is on 2 floors with stairs so there is no wheelchair access.

. An improvised structure, 4 stories above the level of the road, steep steps, without an elevator. We were there 2-nights in an upgraded room with en suite bathrooms. Tiny room , nothing but the bed. All the equipment on the floor, suitcases, clothes, towels, etc. The bathroom is the size of a broom closet. The place is run by a
manager who is also the maid, the laundress, prepares a breakfast
Cleaning tables and washing dishes The place was a default for us.

This place was located up a hill and was extra hard to get to this week because they are pulling thr road up out the front. Once we got there check in was efficient but matter of fact, lacked any enthusiasm. The place is basic with narrow stairs - challenging with our big suitcases. Shared bathrooms too but no problems there. Heating worked well and rooms well cleaned and made up. Great view out the window. Breakfast simple but did the job. As always in Iceland the home made bread was terrific. Wifi good too!
