After a long morning drive from Griante, scouring every inch of Isola Bella, we arrived via boat to this tiny island. Upon a high recommendation from our guide, the six of us hurriedly trekked our way to the Albergo Ristorante Verbano. Although rather busy, we were treated as though we were the only ones in the place. Asparagus crepes, lightly battered local lake fish, and the risotto were outstanding. We thoroughly enjoyed all of our meals, not being rushed to finish, and left the restaurant sated. excellent service and food

We had a late flight home so caught the ferry to Isola Pescatori for a relaxing lunch at the Hotel Verbano. Quite a formal dining room but the views over the lake were stunning.
We tried the menu of the day and we were not disappointed. The food was of excellent quality and well cooked. A perfect venue for our last meal in Italy this year.

We had stayed at the Verbano a number of years ago, and much had
changed since our last visit. The emphasis has changed from hotel to restaurant,
with a smart new lobby and dining room. First of all I must say we showed up without reservation because another hotel which we had booked did not live up to our expectations, and in this circumstance, the receptionist at the Verbano was kind and helpful, showing us the available rooms. Now, there isn't much wrong with the rooms, we certainly didn't mind the absence of television for example. However we did mind the mould in the shower, I've seen worse, but still, for the price the hotel are charging for a simple room you would expect better.
I can't fault the dinner at all, it was lovely, and they willingly adapted one item on the menu to suit me. Breakfast was fine, although I don't really know why some Italian hotels charge extra for eggs and some don't. Also as I have said in many reviews before, the availability of freshly squeezed orange juice in the morning goes a long way towards getting the day off on the right foot. In summary, one feels that this hotel is in transition and could, with a bit more attention to the rooms and some small details, go from very good to excellent. One last example, I asked for an extra blanket as the nights were drawing in, and was promised one would be brought up to the room. It never arrived.
About the island, during the high season, it gets totally jammed with boat day trippers. If you stay on the island, once the last boat leaves, it is peaceful and romantic. One last thing, if you do visit or stay at the Verbano, the next-door tiny church is beautiful and has 15th century frescoes and a stunning Venetian mosaic floor.

located on Pescatori Island we took a boat (arranged by our hotel) to restaurant of Verbano for dinner. Romantic location overlooking the lake and Isola Bella. Nice selection of wines and fish or meat dishes, although quite expensive. On arrival service was quick, friendly and attentive....although this dissapeared as the restaurant became busier. Overall a nice dinner / evening and worth a visit.

As most reviews below confirm, when in the Stresa area, this is one restaurant you cannot miss!
Excellent location, food and service.

We had lunch from the special menu of the day which featured wild mushrooms. Ordered a nice bottle of local white wine, and Karen started off with procuitto and melon. I had procuitto and zucchini pie. Then came Karens tagliatelle with wild mushrooms and truffles, and my veal chop smothered with wild mushrooms...wow! Both dishes were outstanding! See pics.

Finished off with sorbet and espresso, what a fabulous lunch. Not cheap, but what the hell it's VACATION!
Ya gotta treat yourselves sometimes.... :)
