“A wonderful hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 March 2014

We stayed at the hotel for a full week from 22.2 till 1.3.2014.
My, wife the kids and me have only good thing to say: nice and welcoming staff, nice rooms, good food, very nice sauna and pool area.
The hotel is well managed and we simply had a great stay, we highly recommend it.

Just returned from Mitterhofer hotel.
The week of 11-18/1/2014 was quite exceptional, due to the lack of snow. The slopes were in quite good conditions, but there were almost no people, neither at the lifts, no at the hotel.
We were group of family and friends, total 9 people and we felt ourselvs like in the private chalet, because there were another 8-10 people in the hotel and us. The rooms are new, bright and very clean. The location is excellent. The service is great and the stuff is very professional.
The only points that I have to menation are the restaurant and spa facilities.

1) Spa is very nice, well decorated, extremely clean, BUT:
It's written that the hotel have a whirlpool( jacuzzi) , which for my opinion is absolutely MUST for the ski hotel. We were quite surprized, when we saw a small corner bath with stream botton and shower ( exactly the same I have in my private bathroom at home) and it was consider to be a whirlpool. You must fill the water by yourself and empty it after you finish, but you can hardly fit inside this small thing, and all the water is around on the floor while it's working. For the such level of the hotel the first thing that must be removed and re-biuld is the whirpool. Otherwise it's a joke!
The other thing is indoor/outdoor swimming pool. There is no indoor pool at all! There is 1,5 meter insider entrance to the outdoor pool, which considerable to be 30 C. Maybe it was, but it was quite impossible to swim , as the water was very cold. ( outdoor temperature was quite warm, +3/ 4 C). We used to have hotels with outdoor pools that you can use without screaming during your entrance, and the water was no less, than your body temperature. So you can feel warm , nice and have a very good time.
2) Reastaurant.
The waiters were very good, the quality of the food was also good, but the choice was quite limited. The vegeterian and fish dishes can be impoved. The pork meat was in every dish, including some soupls, starters and main courses. We didn't have lamb at all during 7 nights and beef only twice. The variaty of salad buffet was every day the same and on 3rd night it's already boaring. The best night was with mediterranian buffet, where there is a big choice of vegetables, seafood, meat, etc. This kind of food is much healthier!

I think that if it'll be a new whirlpoor, hot water in the pool and just a little bit improvement of the restaurant, the hotel can be consider one of the best in Schladming area!

Fantastic choice for our first skiing holiday. Excellent proximity to the Golden Jet (about five minutes walk around the corner, 10 minute waddle if wearing ski boots). Wonderful range of facilities, the outdoor pool was excellent for an evening swim, though a little cold and the jacuzzi area didn't work.Tucked away at the back of the pool is a secret cabin with a sauna and shower - wonderful after a chilly dip in the pool and for easing sore muscles after a day on the slopes! Spa facilities were lovely with a great range of showers, though I would watch out for the naked European's if you're a reserved Brit! They also have a store room for all your ski equipment and a bar with a wonderful selection of drinks for the evening. The best thing about the stay, however, was running down to the restaurant every morning and evening. The food is quite simply SUPERB and the waiting staff extremely attentive and friendly. I cannot recommend this hotel enough if you have a hearty appetite!

Buying wine won the staff over - before splashing the cash they were a little stiff - suggesting they are not well looked after.

Rooms were great bar no drink making facilities/mini bar.

Facilities were good; though Brits should watch out for European habit of nakedness throughout the spa area, despite many guests being morbidly obese.

A good stay though - the food was SIMPLY EXCEPTIONAL and the staff were very friendly after the midway point.

This is supposingly a 4 star hotel. According to the reviews on Trip Advisor it is supposed to be excellent. I do not agree (not at all) and was negatively surprised. In my room the furniture was at least 20 years old and the room looked rather sadly decorated (was there any decoration??). My TV set was an old big box with a remote with buttons totaly faded and unlegible!! The SPA is devided in two areas (corridor in between) so every time when you go from one are into another are you have to swipe your room card to open the door..totaly unpractical. Reception staff was not always very helpful.
Breakfast is one of the highlights and the staff serving it was very friendly. Very nice room for skiis & boots.

Room Tip: Take a look before accepting the room..maybe other rooms are better than mine?

Very good hotel close to the cabin lift and ski slopes. It is just walking distance (250m) to the ski lifts and slopes. Excellent service, very friendly staff. Their spa complex is just amazing ! Very generous breakfasts and delicious dinners. Highly recommended hotel in Schladming !

We stayed here for two nights with half pension and found this hotel to offer good value. A five course dinner with vegetarian options was a pleasant surprise in the small charming town in central Austria. Our room was huge (maybe 20 x 25 ft) and had an extremely comfortable bed. The internet connection was somewhat of a problem at first until I realized you need to have a cable to use your computer (no WIFI).

The best part of the town is the drive north up the hill toward Ramsau which winds around some of the prettiest villages you can imaging.

The walk into the town of Schladming from the hotel was interesting once you got there, the walk itself along a busy road much less so.
