We stayed here for our 10 year wedding anniversary. The view and patio was wonderful and relaxing. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend this hotel if you want to stay in this area.

Room Tip: Get a room with a patio and view

Perched on the cliff with Andalusian countryside views is the reason we chose this hotel. As all other tripadvisor reviewers mentioned about the very narrow one-way to the top of the hill and the limited public parking space around Plaza del Cabido, we contacted the hotel about parking at their sister hotel's parking facility instead. They emailed to us the directions along with the map to Hotel Los Olivos-the sister hotel. With the lugagge and not wanting to hassle with the hotel directions, we decided to take a taxi to get to our hotel. Walking to or from the sister hotel from our hotel is actually very doable and not too far (10-15 minutes one way). We did this stroll after checking in our lugagge, had dinner at the new town at the bottom of the hill and walked back to the hotel.

Our room no# 5 is very roomy and airy. The view from the room private balcony is amazing. The balcony itself is decorated with Andalusian tiles. This was definitely a memorable stay at this charming pueblo blanco - Rick Steves' favorite.

We enjoyed staying in a former convent. Our private patio had an amazing view. The steps winding to the second floor are narrow so you need strength carring up luggage. The room for three is on the second floor. We ate our meals in the town. Arcos de la Frontera is a unique city to visit.

The view, as others mentioned, was fantastic from a wonderful patio. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They note to park your car at their sister hotel at the bottom of the hill. It is a short walk down hill. It is worth taking a shuttle up to your hotel at the bottom of the hill with your luggage. It was about 1 euro each.

We had great advice and thus great luck with seven hotels in Spain, but nothing prepared us for the outstanding El Convento. The family-owned hotel is absolutely gorgeous, on a hillside overlooking a river valley with beautifully landscaped farms. It sits atop a steep hill in the older part of the nearly 1,000-year-old town. We parked in the more car-friendly public parking in the lower part of town, and regular shuttle buses can take you to the top (we walked; a good workout!). Inside, the lobby and rooms are done in beautiful ceramic tile around white walls. The friendly staff escorted us to our room, which was actually downstairs from the lobby. We didn't quite know what to expect with that, but they opened up the very spacious room and opened the door to a patio that was larger than some of the rooms we've stayed in in Europe. It was a breathtaking view. The room slept comfortably and was very quiet. The hotel is just a 3-minute walk from an old-fashioned mercado, and very near a number of great, intimate restaurants (we strongly recommend the Taberna Jovenes Flamencos, where we had a fantastic meal sitting outside on a lovely night). For breakfast, we ate on the restaurant terrace, enjoying the fresh eggs made by the matriarch of the family that runs place. It's all very quaint and beautiful, and the perfect place to wind down, either for the entire vacation or at the end of a hectic one like ours. Arcos de la Frontera has an interesting history and a few cool sites, but its laid-back pace and businesses catering to the locals and not the tourists made it one of the least expensive stops on our trip, and one of the most enjoyable.

This is a great value Hotel in a most stupendous location - perched on the edge of the cliff in Arcos old town! In 100 metres you are in the main square next to The Parador (same view, but much more expensive!) and The Mirador. However, you have your own 'mirador' from your terrace.... We had a huge terrace, a small, but adequate room and good bathroom with excellent shower. The decor is dated, but it is clean and comfortable and SO peaceful.
You can take breakfast in the large reception area or on the upper terrace, which can be windy in the early morning...., but, looking at 'that view' whilst drinking your fresh orange juice is breathtaking!
The staff don't speak much English but were extremely helpful, especially with the car parking situation. This is where Arcos old town is 'challenging'! The streets are extremely narrow and the one way system can be difficult to get used to - however, if you follow signs to The Parador, you will, hopefully, find a parking space in the main square. The hotel staff can then issue with a permit ( charged to your room).

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view and you won't be disappointed!!

This hotel is perched on a clifftop and worth the price for the view alone. Stunning! We had a large terrace so we could enjoy the view whenever in the hotel.
The staff where very pleasant and helpful. They arranged to have my laundry picked up by taxi and returned the next day which saved me having to organise it myself.
As others have said driving up to the hotel is tricky due to the narrow and steep streets so leave your car at the sister hotel Los Olivos and take a taxi up, cost 5 euros.
My only slight complaint was that the room smelled a little musty due to it probably being shut up all winter (we were there at the beginning of the season) and was rather small. But this would not stop me staying again some time in the future.

Room Tip: Choose a room with a private terrace, the view is stunning.
