This small, sparkling clean hotel in the middle of the charming ,ancient city of Frascati is. a great base for seeing the hill towns and countryside out of Rome. While there is no lift nor lounge area for guests, the attentive service to the guests' needs and wishes was more than expected-"simpatico". The friendly staff and the central position of the hotel made for a great "close-up" experience of life in a small , but ancient Italian city. Hope to return, but will book a room on the first floor ( fewer stairs!) next time.

This was the last night of our holiday and we decided to stay out of Rome. We drove to Frascati, a beautiful old city. We didnt have a reservation anywhere and it was looking very slim that we were going to get anywhere. One hotel rung the Hotel Colonna and we stayed in the hotels last room. A room just off the reception, which I think would a managers/night shift room. The room was immaculate as was the hotel. Staff great and breakfast good. We would stay again.

Stayed at Hotel Colonna in May 2014. All the reviews of the hotel are correct. It is a perfectly clean, reasonably priced Hotel right in the middle of Frascati. However, on arrival we were informed that the roof terrace was closed and there was no air conditioning as they don't allow this until the end of May when the engineers have to reprogram the system.
So when we stayed there were hot days and nights without air con which was not good. We opened the windows and suffered from noise from the square until around midnight and then workmen start at around 7am in the next block with drills and hammers. If you stay here also be aware that the roof terrace is closed. There is no lounge in this hotel and the breakfast room is closed during the day so if you need to relax you either go to your room or find a café nearby.
The staff are very friendly and helpful (as per other reviews) and the breakfast is quite decent - fresh fruit, toast, ham, cheese, cakes, tea of coffee.
My advice is to check the air con is working before booking and don't expect too much.

Room Tip: Not sure if any rooms would avoid the night time noise or the building works carried out from 7am. S...

The hotel has a very smart appearance and is situated well for seeing Frascati. However its advertised short distance from the train station is a farce, a very long series of steps is required to arrive at a piazza somewhere near to the hotel, otherwise a long route or a taxi. There is no lift so carrying luggage is an issue. My room was nice but 2 of the 3 plugs did not work and computer ran out of power. They seemed to have been repaired but the next day the same thing happened. The internet is not very powerful and you have to access it each time. In addition the shower head was broken and had to be repaired. Noise at night is bad, there are people in the piazza until well after midnight, which is not a problem if there was glazing to reduce the noise. In the early morning noise is also an issue. Just all kinds of other little things have been neglected and reception is often left unmanned, so customer service could be improved.

I stayed at this hotel with fiance and friends in October of 2013. This hotel does have small rooms, however, they were accommodating and sufficient. The hotel comes with free breakfast in the morning and for the price can't be beat. It is in the center square of the little town of Frascati, surrounded by stores, shops, a church, restaurants, and bars. Anything that you could possibly need is within walking distance.

This town sits on a mountain and so the views of Rome are beautiful. It is an easy 20-30 minute train ride to arrive into the center of Rome. There is free wifi. The only complaint was how terrible the hair dryer was. So ladies, if you have a converter for your hair dryer, bring that, as merely a European plug does not do the trick. I have a European hair dryer from Germany that I had brought and that still didn't work.

The hotel staff at the front desk are very nice, friendly and are happy to recommend restaurants and attractions in the area. Having a rental car to see villas, wineries and attractions local to Frascati is nice. There is not too much English spoken in this little town, however, the locals are all willing to try and help.

Room Tip: Ask to be put in a room that overlooks the square. It is a cute little center of town that really c...

Frascati is a beautiful hillside town outside Rome. I loved it here and explored many of the other little towns around the region.

I stayed at Hotel Colonna in the centre of town. This proved to be a great location as it was central to restaurants, pasticceria's and pretty much anything else we needed. My room was very spacious, clean and the air conditioner worked (thank heavens as I stayed there in Aug). The owner and his son we also really helpful and great to deal with. The breakfast downstairs is typically "Italian" with some other options, like fruit, muesli and tea. There is also a laundry close by for any washing you need to do. There is no elevator - so you do need to walk up the stairs - try stay on the first floor!

I would definitely stay here again if I was was to return to Frascati.
