This is one of our two go-to places in Amberg for German food. Prices are typical for German fare (3E beer, 4-5E wine, 10-15E main meals). Service is very friendly, and the food is some of the best we've found in the area. My favorite dish is the Russwurmpfandl, with pork medallions, spaetzle and cheese; my husband's favorite is the Wildkalb with Preiselbeern (although I personally think there should be more food for the price), with the Leberknodlsuppe a close second. The entire meal was a pleasure.

My wife and I have eaten here on many occasions and consider it the best German food in town. The head waitress is always dressed in a Dirndl. The food is always of the highest quality. They don't speak english, but I always get by and have a great meal. Try there special whenever they have it.

This restaurant is small, cozy, and quaint; and reservations are needed to secure a table. The staff was friendly and the food was very good. I highly recommend the pork medallions served in an iron skillet with spaezle and a mushroom sauce, topped with crispy melted emmentaler cheese. Wow - so great! My husband also enjoyed his rump steak. The restaurant has a special ambiance and we highly recommend it for a special meal with friends or a romantic evening with your sweetheart.

Several coworkers and I dined at Rußwurmhouse tonight and all loved the food and atmosphere as well as the service - and of course the Brückmuller bier. I started with the Leberspätzlesuppe which was delicious - subtle broth with tender and flavorful liver spätzle. This was followed with a beautiful salad with several types of fresh crisp lettuces, lightly pickled cabbage, carrot, and cucumber. My main dish was Rußwurmpfandl which was fabulous - a generous portion of käsespatzle with pork medallions covered in a fantastic rahmsoße then topped with Emmentaler cheese and broiled to a golden brown. I shared a small bit of each of the other dishes which were equally fantastic including grilled bratwurst, Kartoffelknödel, and juicy slices of pork with an amazing crispy cracklin skin. Along with two 0,5l kellerbiers, my bill was about €21 which I think is excellent value for money.

English was not spoken by either of our servers but both were patient and helpful.

We ate inside tonight given the Biergarten was closed due to the cool temps and it was very comfortable with a nice ambience. I've also eaten in the Biergarten which is fantastic as well - very nicely decorated with flowering plants. I'd recommend it if the weather is good.

So, I'd have to say that if your in the mood for something more than just wurst and such, this is a choice that won't disappoint.
