“wonderful experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 April 2014

We found The Cowsheds on Tripadvisor and was impressed by other peoples reviews. I was looking for somewhere that was going to be ok for my parents whose mobility is restricted. Our experience began when we turned into the farm road up to the Cowsheds, this was lovely and we quickly realised how remote and peaceful our stay was going to be. As soon as we parked up David come over and introduced himself to us then led us round to our rooms. Both rooms are accessible by both steps and gentle ramp, so people who find steps challenging or use a walking aid or wheelchair can easily access either room. The rooms are both fantastic and can say that they are the best we have stayed in so far. The building work has all been finished to a very high standard and they are decorated beautifully. There is a folder in the dining room showing the transformation from farm sheds to first class accommodation, well worth a look. Every consideration has been given for guests comfort, there are various teas, three different coffees, hot chocolate, fresh milk and biscuits all of which is refilled the next morning or as needed just by asking. The breakfast is wonderful and I can say is the best we've had. David and Vivienne are wonderful friendly people who made our stay extremely pleasant, nothing was too much trouble. I would highly recommend staying here to anyone looking for a peaceful retreat, first class accommodation and perfect hosts. Thank you David and Viv.

What can i say except this is a hidden treasure!! On arrival we were greeted very warmly by Vivienne and David who showed us to our accomodation which was a beautiful barn conversion. Everything was spotlessly clean and very comfortable indeed. Great consideration has been given to guests comfort as there are plenty of towels available along with superb bed linen!! Vivienne and David are excellent hosts who really know how to look after their visitors. They provide an excellent standard of breakfast using local and homemade produce and nothing appears to be too much trouble.

I would not hesitate to recommend them and would certainly stay again.

Have stayed here several times - and always fabulous! The rooms are huge and spotlessly clean, with loads of different teas, coffees and biscuits and always fresh milk. Lovely quality bed linen (much better than we have at home!) and a great location for exploring. Really peaceful and quiet for a great nights sleep - we'll be back again soon!

Room Tip: Both rooms are great - huge with separate sitting area.

During October we just knew that we in need of a little bit of rest and recuperation. What better place to go back to than to the Cowsheds. It is a small taste of paradise on earth. The silence is enough to burst your ear drums. The only thing that wakes you in the morning is if you have set your alarm. This visit Vivienne had changed the bedding to winter quilts. This was wonderful, but we did have to ask the next day for the summer quilt to be put back on, which was done immediately. Vivienne and David, the owners, are such a lovely couple, full of smiles, excellent breakfast cooks and knowledgeable about the area.
On this return visit everthing was up to its more than excellent standards that we had found on our first visit a year ago. The added extra that we received was to meet Vivienne s father who is a real character. He ended up telling all about the walnut tree, berry trees, bee hives and his allotments that he tends. And if you are lucky enough you might get an invitation to visit the front garden of his part of the farm. Even in October it was a sight to behold!
This is a b&b that should have a 6* rating for everything they provide, the standard of accommodation, the wonderful breakfast, and the setting. Oh and I forgot to mention the delicious honey and home made jams and bread. Can, t wait to go back there.

Room Tip: Both visits we have stayed in 'Nellie' cowshed. It is wonderfully set up for luxurious accom...

Probably the best b and b we have ever stayed in! A beautiful, spacious bedroom and in addition our own sitting room and decking area all in a lovely peaceful location. Viv and David were perfect hosts and the breakfasts just delicious. We cannot recommend it enough and would love to return sometime.

We stayed here for a couple of nights after having it recommended to us and we weren't disappointed. Viv and David are lovely hosts, very friendly and welcoming, and we had a really relaxing stay. It is in a beautiful quiet spot but only a short drive away fom the coast. The room itself was spacious and very comfortable with a separate living room area, whilst the breakfast was superb - seasonal homemade stewed fruit, homemade bread, cereals and a delicious full English breakfast made with local produce and fresh farm eggs. We have no hesitation in highly recommending this B&B, just watch out for the bumpy farm track leading up to it!

Undoubtedly the best B&B we have visited in over 40 years of UK travelling.

Most welcoming and helpful hosts with first class recommendation of local pub for evening meal. We will certainly go back there.
