“WOW food & a very friendly girl named Lisa!”
Reviewed 19 July 2014 via mobile

If i lived in Kufstein i would eat here every weekend. We found this place on trip advisor and it was a blessing. Thanks to the help of a very sweet girl named Lisa we ordered the following: Two clear beef soup with sliced pancakes as starters, tiroler Grostil and Beef Goulash. Portions where very big that i didnt even manage to eat my share. (Nb if you are not a big eater avoid starters). The ambiance is very nice, its like going back in ancient times. Thumbs up to this place and very well done to the super friendly staff especially Lisa :) We booked beforehand as on weekends its pretty busy. Hope to be able to dine here again one day. Thanks for a lovely evening.

Thank Deborah B

“Great food and service but too loud”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

At the beginning of April my wife and I had some friends visiting us from Scotland so we decided that we would take them to a local restaurant that everyone seems to rave about.

We had passed it often as it is the old city centre of Kufstein and just beside the castle.
Very picturesque little corner indeed and one all the tourists visit.

Unfortunately we had chosen a Saturday evening and the place was jammed packed full but as we had reserved we knew there would be no problem getting seated. However as the restaurant is situated in a very old medieval building almost like in the castle halls it seemed to echo the noise of all the customers.

I have to say that all the food that we as a foursome ordered was absolutely lovely, well cooked, well presented and delicious. It was not particularly expensive but nor was it cheap. I would say however that it was good value for money.

The bas thing that all four of us noticed and all complained about when we left the building was the feeling of claustrophobia in there and the terrible noise.

Whilst there were some noisy groups of people there it just seemed too loud.

Would we go back…. Yes I suppose we would but only if it was much quieter, and not as loud as a disco used to be in the 70s.

“A little Gem!”
Reviewed 12 May 2014 via mobile

We have been living in Kufstein for a few months now but I have only had the pleasure of dining here recently. The building oozes character. You have to climb a narrow staircase to enter it and the floor space is surprisingly big. It's fully of little snugs and has an authentic traditional Austrian feel. The staff are very pleasant and knowledgable. If you order steak they bring the raw meat to your table and cut it to your specifications. The menu is extensive and they do provide an English version! I would recommend trying the very tasty beef burger. You can decide how much you want to pay for it at the end of your meal. The desserts are scrumptious too! If you are staying in the area for skiing/walking, you should check it out!

“Great food, great atmosphere”
Reviewed 1 March 2014 via mobile

We had dinner with the family on a stopover from wintersports in zillertal and had a great time. Food and wine was excellent and service very friendly. The children had a massive hamburger of which we could determine the price ourselves afterwards. Steak is recommended, but also the other dishes are very nice. Try the Austrian tapas dessert, which offers a selection of the best Austrian sweets. After dinner you can have a nice stroll in the pitoresque town center.

We cross the street to go to this restaurant as we were at the hotel across and we were not disappointed especially about the food and the delicious home French fries. Une bonne addresse !
