“Nice but flawed”
Reviewed 26 April 2014

Smart hotel located about 1.5miles from town centre and 0.5 miles from the beach in Zoute (rather than Knokke). Hotel is clearly going through a rebrand with smart Scapa furnishings and the breakfast room and lounge are lovely relaxed rooms. Bedroom was similar but the bathroom wasn't up to the same standard and looked dated and a bit tatty round the edges.

Main problem with the room was the noise. The door opened directly onto reception and there was virtually no soundproofing which meant it was noisy in the evening and the next morning.

Breakfast was a nice buffet with limited hot options but an outstanding fruit salad!

Staff were friendly but not that helpful. As an example there are four nice restaurants all within a short walk but on a busy Saturday the chap on reception did nothing to help us get a table, leaving us to our own devices.

There is paid parking next to the hotel . I guess for Knokke the prices were reasonable (€160 per night) but it just felt a bit much for the facilities and service offered.

In July of 2013 I stayed at the St. Pol with my sister. The room we had was big enough and had a king size bed. The room, bathroom and water closet were CLEAN. The hotel was quiet and we had a good night sleep. Breakfast buffet was great and plentiful. The people were nice and helpful. The price for the room was 135 euros. I thought it was pretty reasonable considering we were in the high vacation season and the location of the hotel was very close to the beach and the shopping district. I would certainly go back there again.

Room Tip: Difference between a single and a double room is minimal. Several rooms are on the ground floor and...

We went with the family and booked 3 rooms. 2 Suite, 1 standard room. Good beds and clean rooms. Breakfast was excellent, fresh and a large choice. The hotel was renovated and looked nice and romantic. Parking next to the hotel at 10€. The standard room was small, but cosy, the other 2 were large rooms. We had an issue with the shower, but they resolved it (hot-cold-hot) this was only in room 12. With the others, room 4 and 5, there were no problems with the shower. Very friendly staff! Location is a bit away from the beach, so you need a bike or car to go to the beach or Knokke centre. Overall very good hotel, price a bit high, but still acceptable.

We had a large room de luxe on the ground floor with a garden terrace. Super clean and large. Modern, no unneccesary stuff.
Viennoisseries at breakfast served until 11.00 am are delicious and do not miss the plum marmelade from the "Zoete Polder"
A safe hotel parking. Hotel rent good bikes. Center of Zoute is a 15 min walk. Last but not least, thank to the reception and the personel for their courtesy.

Knokke is not the place along the Belgian coast where you find cheap accomodation. With that background this hotel offers a good deal, with a very high standard. The rooms are clean and spacious, with a place outdoor to sit on sunny days. The receptionist welcomes you with information and courtesy. Breakfast is served in a nice fireplace room, with an excessive breakfast. Within walking distance you can reach the beach(a 15 minute brisk walk) or the nearby village where there are plenty of nice restuarants.

The two levels building is like a large local villa made of painted bricks. Rooms are ample. decoratiin is sober. White walls, light coloured carpets, pictures of polo games as the owner used to play the game. Very complete amenities in the bath room. Some rooms with balcony. No meals served other than breakfast. And a breakfast it is. Eggs, sausage, various cold cuts, smoked fish, fresh fruits, cereals, three types of juice and warm bread and pastries. A good thing that the hotel rents bicycles. 10 euros for half a day or 20 for two days. The hotel charges 10 Euros a day for outside parking. Rather expensive, but Knokke is not cheap. Tourists come here to spot migrating birds, sport cars or collection antique cars. There is a terrace on the ground floor between the building and the road where you can have breakfast or a drink when the sun is out. In summer I recommend a room downstairs as it can get pretty warm on the upper level. If you want a hotel with a soul ran by human beings, do come here everyone is helpful a change from all the anonymous chains
