Best Western Palads Hotel
Ranked #2 of 4 Hotels in Viborg

Right in the centre of town. The room is as you would expect in Denmark, well equiped but appears a bit sparse. However the room had a large desk, very comfy office type chair, doudle bed, small kitchen area with fridge (stocked as a minibar). The bathroom was very good, all the amenities with a shower with 3 showers in it and a sauna.
The breakfast is good and again what you would expect in Denmark.
There is also free wifi and free self service laundry facilities if needed.
The carparking at the Palads is limited, so when busy it can be an issue.
Shops, bars restaurants all close by.

Stayed at this hotel for business and had some very mixed experiences – as long as you are aware of what you get I would be fine. I stayed in “Block B” which is just across the street: room had lot of space, proper desk and office swivel chair that was excellent to work from. Rest of interior decoration was quite scarce and not very welcoming – a TV in one end and two armchair in another. On the plus side, the room had a small kitchen cupboard with hot plates, tea maker as well as plates and dishes – perfect for a stay with the family. Bathroom with sauna, shower and whirlpool bathtub – only bathroom I have been to with 4 showers (sic!). All in all, working, but boring and slightly worn.
Main building looked like something from the 1950s and the check-out took ages as receipts were handwritten (sic!). Credit cards worked though. Breakfast was a huge disappointment with only the basic stuff: 3 types of bread, cheese, some salami, very little hot food, some basic cereals.
Location just outside the city center - close to restaurants and pubs.
As long as you know what you are getting this could be what you are looking for. Or absolutely not – depending on your priorities.

Room Tip: Block B is perfectly OK to stay in - no AC means you are exposed to outdoor noise as you need to kee...

This hotel is located in city proper. The breakfast is ok. Free wifi, sauna and jacuzzi in every room. The rooms are spread in 4 blocks just across the street in front of the main building. Breakfast is at the main building. Good restaurant beside the hotel and shopping area is just a few meters away. The room is ok with a mini bar tea kitchen with free coffee and tea. A big parking area too. It's ok for 1 or 2 nights stay.

Opened the bedroom door to find a large room with sofa, desk and large double bed with a mini kitchen area. Room was light and clean and quiet. Opened the ensuite door to find a jacuzzi, sauna and shower. Spent a fabulous three nights taking advantage of these before sleeping well on the most comfortable pillows I've ever laid my head on. No wonder Denmark is the world's happiest country!

Had to stopover for one night while on business. Hotel is OK, greeting friendly and helpful. Rooms are located in 4 blocks across the street from the main hotel block (where check-in, breakfast, bar etc are). Room was clean and pretty spacious with a large bathroom including shower, bath and sauna.

Fairly dated hotel where all areas could do with a revamp. Large airy rooms with desk etc for working at and big bathroom with jacuzzi bath and own sauna. Just all a little tired really. Good town centre location though. Breakfast was typically continental but ok.

We stayed here for 4 nights whilst moving house; using the hotel the bare minimum.
We did not appreciate the fact that the hotel was spread out over 4 blocks on the other side of the road from the original building until we arrived. The walk to breakfast, very pleasant in summer, must not be so on a rainy winter’s morning, even though it is not far (30m).
We were in block B, in hindsight I would have asked for another. The facilities in the large room were very good, they can be used as apartments: 2 burner hob, fridge, kettle, coffee maker, sink, 2 decent chairs, a chesterfield sofa; and a good-sized double bed. The shower room had a good and large shower, a whirlpool bath and a sauna. Upon entering the room my husband put a finger through the dust on the alarm clock, otherwise it was relatively clean. Fast internet access was available by cable. One had free access to the town’s swimming pool and there was access to a fitness centre. There was free private parking.
We had 4 nights’ disturbed sleep – Friday night the revellers were out until 02.00, Saturday night they were out all night –we were awake from 02.00 to 04.00 with constant shouting and talking. On Sunday we thought, “Work tomorrow so a quiet night’s sleep” WRONG – it turned out that the road block B faces, called Dumpen, is the access to St Mathias Centeret (the biggest shopping precinct in Viborg), and delivery lorries began arriving from 05.00 for the next two mornings…much noise from engines and reversing beepers. As it was so hot, block B being south facing, we had to keep the windows open, if air conditioning had been available we should have been able to shut out some of the noise.
Breakfast did not live up to expectations. The first day we arrived at 08.00 (breakfast being from 07.00 to 11.00) to find that no hot food at all. The choice of bread, meats and cheese was okay. Two good things about breakfast – a kettle to boil water for tea bags, and a toaster to make your own. The waiter on duty seemed to amble round whilst actually doing nothing; one of the jams was empty and he stood looking at it, without doing anything, another time he shook the crumbs off the cloth napkin (designed for folks to use whilst cutting to prevent accidental contact with the bread), then promptly laid the bread loaf back on top of them all again.
I ate honey each morning, the sachets had obviously been there a while as the honey had solidified into one end. The stem vases were devoid of water on the second morning, and the chairs were sturdy but needed re-upholstering. One had the impression that the hotel staff felt that they did not have to try too hard; there is only one other hotel in Viborg, the Golf near the lake – also a Best Western.

Room Tip: Stay away from block B in summer and at weekends!

Thank you for your review. I am sorry that there was party in town. We have installed special window glas that very effetely stops the noise if the windows are closed. If you had told us about your problem we would have given you a room in a quiet part of the hotel. We try to improve our breakfast as much as possible. So I am gratefully to your comment. I shall use your information to improve. We really try hard to do the utmost for our guests
