“Good service.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 May 2014

I spend night in Lakeus and i was happy to service. Room was clean and new. Receiptonis was given also good service. This hotel is popular so choose it earlier. Breakfast was very good and there were some special thinks like "sea-buckthorn juice"

Room Tip: Choose room opposite to parkin place.

Hotel Lakeus has a great location few blocks from the railway station and the city centre. You also can easily arrive by car: here is plenty of free parking space.

All the staff were nice and friendly. Everything went smoothly even if the hotel was full booked. Meeting rooms were modern.

The hotel seems to be renovated recently. Everything is new and shiny. I had a superior room with a little private sauna. The room wasn't very large but I was travelling alone so that was no problem. A decent working desk with free wifi, safe and a tea set were found in the room, too. There is no ironing set and the room info card had no info if it will be arranged on demand. The bed was good but I had to turn off air conditioning at nights because of its loud noise.

Breakfast buffet was good as usual in Sokos hotels. No surprises, good or bad. In a business hotel I find a gym very important after travelling and/or between meetings. Unfortunately, here is no gym. But if You have Sokos hotel card, 'S-Card' (sold separately with annual fee) there should be a limited number of member cards for a gym nearby.

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 February 2014

After reading the comments of previous visitors I felt the need to give a little praise to the hotel. We visited in January 2014 and if I understood correctly, all rooms and facilities are now renovated. At least we didn't see any sign of construction.

Our visit had a great start as we were warmly welcomed by the lovely receptionist. I have stayed in many hotels but never had such personal and attentive arrival. She explained all the features of the hotel, restaurant, sauna, breakfast and our room.

We had booked a superior room as it was only a little more expensive than the regular one. The room was amazing! The decor was minimalistic, the colors soothing and carefully planned out. Everything was shiny and new and the room was meticulously cleaned.

I specially liked the little touches like the artwork in the bathroom. Many things reminded of Finland: Aarikka chairs, lingonberry in the complimentary toiletries and they even had a special water of the area (2 bottles included in the room price). To add a bit of luxury there were complimentary bathrobes and slippers.

The room was massive. A separate living area with writing desk, a large sofa and TV. The bedroom had another TV and sofa with a table and a couple of rocking chairs. The room also featured a minibar, water boiler, safe and sauna. We wished we could have stayed for a longer time when we saw all this. The only little negative was the size of the sauna. It could easily fit only one person at a time, so we had to take turns.

We slept well as the bed and pillows were so comfortable and went down for breakfast. Finnish hotels usually have a wide range of items in the breakfast buffet and so did this one. There was also some local specialties such as a shot of sea buckthorn berry juice (non alcoholic and very healthy), Finnish squeaky cheese with gooseberry jam and so on. The coffee was excellent, food was fresh and tasty. Everyone in the staff seemed very hospitable and friendly.

There are two hotels of the Sokos chain in Seinäjoki. One of the reasons we chose the Lakeus was the easy parking. It is totally free and you don't have to reserve. In the wintertime there are a couple of dozens spaces with electricity for warming up your car. If you are fortunate enough, you might score one of these. Unfortunately these places are also the closest to the doors so we noticed nearly all of the people with cars in these spots didn't even use the electricity. They just could't be bothered to walk the extra 10 meters.

The other reason was the location of the other Sokos hotel, Vaakuna, which is situated just a couple of blocks away on a market square. The other hotel also has a night club and during the weekend there are drunken Finns having a good time and probably making a lot of noise. To avoid the possible noise hazard we thought the Lakeus would be a better choice for us. This hotel is still very close to the center of the town and near the railway station, but in a more peacefully location next to a park.

We had such a lovely time in this hotel and I am eager to visit it again. Highly recommended!

Room Tip: The superior room is worth the extra money

Lakeus is a tired hotel, now and finally under renovation. Unfortunatly the ongoing work has also affected service. At breakfast there are too many small faults - bread knife that was totally blunt, two first coffee mugs that were dirty with leftovers from previous use and cold porridge from the "warm" buffet. And that the staff did not bother to say hello - not one of them.

Room Tip: Avoid 3rd floor and street side. Renovation in room 301 from 6 am.

Stayed for business in a room that probably dates from 1980s and it shows. Service seemed to be all right - nice chat at the reception desk, got instance. Renovation of rooms is under way, so this hotel might soon offer better value for money.

...from a Sokos chain hotel. i.e. clean room and no real 'faults'. Superior room was nice with sauna (albeit tiny).

Very nice and friendly staff at the reception.
The restaurant could do with a wave of Gordon Ramsey/Jyrki Sukula makeover, a lot of random choices. Food was ok, but nothing mind-blowing. For the price of the starters one would expect higher quality.

We stayed at the Lakeus Hotel for two nights in July 2012. As we had our kid with us we booked the superior room that was a bit bigger than the normal one. Overall, we were very happy with our choice. The hotel was centrally located and everything worked the way it should. The staff was friendly and helpful, room comfortable, bed good etc. Breakfast was good, too. A nice little bonus was the children's playarea downstairs next to the restaurant. Just two minor complaints - the bathroom had a sauna attached to it that had a window to the room (someone said to me that the great idea behind it is that you can watch tv while sitting in the sauna - not sure if that is true). So when I went to toilet in the middle of the night, the light woke my partner and my two year old up. On the second night we attached a towel on the window to dim the light. Another thing was that the service in the restaurant was very slow. But as I said, overall we were very happy with Lakeus and I would probably stay there again if I went back to Seinajoki.
