“The Staff let this hotel down”
Reviewed 22 July 2010

Bit difficult to find this hotel but we arrived at 1230 after a long drive through France to be told we couldnt check in until 3pm. The room was not ready for us which is fair emough but they still made us wait until 3 before giving us the key. We were the only people waiting around - how difficult would it have been to get the room cleaned right away knowing we were waiting?

We killed time by a quick visit to the beach which was OK - nothing special and I wouldnt want to spend more than a day there! After about 1 hour we returned to the hotel to be ignored and still not allowed in the room. We killed more time by taking a walk through the woods which was really very beautiful.

Back at the hotel we sat and waited until finally we were allowed in to our room. The room was OK, nothing special but the bed was very comfortable.

We had dinner at the hotel and the service was terrible. It was at least 2 hours before we recieved our starter. The main course they got wrong and I was then told I would have to wait another 40 minutes if I wanted to change it to what I had ordered!!! By this time I was just a little annoyed and couldn't be bothered to wait any longer. In fairness the food was quite good, however, my husband ordered beef with chili and he had a plate of raw mince beef. I know the French like their meat rare but this was taking it too far!!!

The following morning we had to be up and at the port for 0930 so we didnt risk breakfast.

The hotel was €75 per night but the bill was €169 with the couple of drinks and food.

Personally I would not go back here or recommend the hotel to others, however, I think maybe we had a bad experience and other people may find their experience to be a better one.

Excellent hotel. We will be using The Regina for all our short breaks on the Pas de Calais in future. Only suffers from the eternal problem that afflicts hotels everywhere - why, oh why do people have to slam hotel room doors at all hours?

Have stayed in Le Regina on 5 different occasions and it has never let us down. The hotel is situated in a very quiet and calm residential area of the town. Rooms are functional however it is well worth requesting a renovated room at the rear of the hotel with a balcony. Restaurant provides good food at reasonable prices. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. There is just one minor problem with parking as spaces can all be taken during very busy times. Hotel is a really useful overnight stop to or from the channel ports.

We travelled to France with our dog and needed to stay near Calais to ensure he could be treated by a vet prior to returning to the UK. A recommended vet was in Etaples, nearby, so this hotel seemed to fit the bill. The hotel is situated on the outskirts of Hardelot Plage, in a well to do, quiet neighbourhood. It is about a 20 minute walk to the beach, bars and restaurants, although there is a nice restaurant in the hotel, with competitive prices. Staff were friendly and our room was quiet, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. As we had a dog with us, we weren`t expecting much, but this hotel surpassed our expectations. We would certainly stay there again. Well done Le Regina!

Stayed here for the third time in11 years and found that the new management has uprated the rooms and decor - now an excellent 2 chimney Logis de France. The restaurant is still superb and although not cheap it is very good value for money. Staff warm and welcoming.

After years of staying in grotty dumps in Calais, this year we decided to stay outside but within easy reach of the port.
The Regina is set in a quite residential part of Hardelot Plage.
Our room was spacious and the bathroom, with bath, was large
and very well appointed. The room and bathroom was very clean
and the staff at reception and in the restaurant were all very efficient and polite. The food in the restaurant was good and reasonably priced, breakfast was also good although if I do have a crib, the choice was not large. That said we will definitely stay here in future.

We thought Le Regina was a great place to stay. It is motel style and in the forest area of Hardelot, at around 15-20 minutes walk to the small commercial centre and the beach.

The lady on reception was really helpful and spoke great english, which was a bonus. The room was freshly decorated with an outside balcony, big and comfortable bed and a clean large bathroom.

We had dinner in the hotel and it was very tasty, but not all that cheap. Breakfast was included in the price and a decent continental spread.

It was a great place to spend a night on the way to or form the channel ports, or for a longer stay in Hardelot
