The hotel is OK, clean, the staff is polite. Breakfast was not bad, but it was the only hotel we stayed during our trip that did not offer smoked salmon. In addition, juice machines were set up to disperse part juice, part water- never seen that before done in a open by hotels:) The check in time is 4 pm and they do make ppl wait!

Room Tip: If you come to Flam after 1 pm, ask to check if your room is available before 4 pm I bet it will be...

A beautiful hotel in a superb setting. Stunning! I was in the ground floor in a HUGE suite comprising lounge room, bedroom and bathroom with doors opening on to a picturesque garden. Looking directly at the rail station and the dock, literally a stone's throw away. Don't do it in a day trip - stay the night in Flam. Comfortable room, helpful staff and good breakfast

We arrived with a party of four & of course there had been a mishap with the travel agency but the staff was so very accommodating! "No problem, we'll take care of it,". And they certainly did.

The hotel is peaceful, welcoming and very we'll preserved. It's "old" but all amenities are modern. The buffet breakfast & dinner were both wonderful. Fresh, local food done simply with a wide selection. Something for everyone.

And if there's a more beautiful place than Flam, I've certainly not found it.

The hotel is very nice with good decorated lobby and dining area that perfectly suits to the that beautiful peaceful place. You can admire the incredible view of the fjord from the glassed area under the roof. There are no light curtains in the room and as my room was on the first floor and instead of the veranda it has the direct way to the yard, it was a bit uncomfortable to feel my self observed from the glass door, so I had to close the thick curtains thereby darkening the room. The room was clean and comfortable, but unfortunately there was no robe and slippers. The breakfast was very good

This hotel is arguably the best hotel in Flam given the fact that Flam is really a small place. The hotel is strategically located, within easy walking distance once you berth from your cruise ship, it is also next to the Flam railway and besides the hotel there is a souvenir shop selling their famous shoes which Flam is known for. The hiking also starts near the hotel. The room offer good view of the fjords. Buffet is nice. One must try the nearby café next to it that offer a good view of the fjord while one is relaxing admiring the view and having goat sausage and coffee.

Room Tip: Ask for room that face the fjord.

Set among magnificent mountains and spectacular views, this charming hotel is in a perfect location. The harbor and train station are conveniently located directly in front of the property. The rooms are clean and functional. There are coffee and tea in the rooms, but no mini refrigerator or safe. The hotel offers a free washer and dryer for your laundry! This was a thoughtful and appreciated amenity. The breakfast was good and the dinner buffet was acceptable. There are few other dining options nearby. All of the staff were always friendly and very helpful.

If time permits, take advantage of the beautiful walks in Flamsdalen valley. Hop on the Flam Railway in front of the hotel and then disembark at one of the stops along the way and enjoy the return walk. We took the train to Vatnahalsen and hiked back. The 20 kilometer walk was absolutely stunning - beyond description. It was a little over five hours back to the hotel, but not a difficult trail. Shorter options are available from other train stops. Bicycle rentals are also available. They are accommodated on the train and make for a great ride down the trail. The hotel staff will provide many suggestions.

Try to get a room with a harbor view. If you are staying more than one night It is probably worth it to upgrade your room. To avoid the noise, avoid the rooms near the lobby.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms too close to the lobby and try to get a room with a harbor view.

Stayed overnight during Norway in a Nutshell tour
- very charming hotel close to station, unexpected in a such a small place
- paid 1990 NOK @ Booking.com, as the hotel was sold out via Fjord tours. Prices could be cheaper via Fjordtours but remember to enquire about the type of room (fjord facing or mountain facing), we had a Fjord facing room #208
- Comfortable bed, nice small balcony, good service, helpful staff
- do try out the brewery nearby
- we requested check out at 12:00, but we were refused. Understandable as usual checkout time is 11:00 am.

Room Tip: Ask for Fjord facing rooms.
