My husband and I stayed in this apartments hotel for just one night, but would certainly return for a short holiday and stay here. The apartment was described as 'budget; and so we thought the room would be very small. However, it was certainly spacious and well equipped if you were to stay more than one night. The mattress was not quite up to our comfort and the wifi was non-existent at this time as there was a problem with it. However, it was operational in the bar and also in local cafes.

The receptionist was really friendly and smiley.

Breakfast was included at the really fantastic price of only 31 euros.

Returning from 3 days at Foz Atlantida, I had a good time at Montegordo.
Spacious room, clean with a plain TV with the 1 bedroom apartment. Kitchnete well equiped, just miss a toaster.
Furniture of the living room and WC need to be changed. Reception worked very well, agreable receptionists that informs you when you need.
There was no Wifi at the hotel, that was something we were already informed.

Room Tip: Ask for a one bed room, at the 6th floor, where you can have a sea view.

The Foz Atlantida is in the heart of Monte Gordo. The rooms are spacious, clean and well equipped and the kitchen has hob, fridge, kettle and microwave plus good quality cutlery and crockery. There's a small TV and safe for valuables. The hotel has free wifi but it's not quite up to UK standard and works best if you're sitting in reception close to the wirless hub. The staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel is central so does get a bit of noise from nightime revellers and passing traffic, especially if you have to leave the windows open overnight to keep cool. There's a roof pool and sun terrace which is only open during high season but it didn't look very inviting so I gave it a miss.

Monte Gordo itself doesn't offer any great surprises. It has a very nice big sandy beach just 100m away but apart from that it's all souvenir shops, bars, restaurants and a casino. Great if that's what you're after. If you fancy a nice walk try going left out of town and keep going till you hit the marina. The football tournament mentioned elswhere happens in April 2014 so if you want to avoid the kids keep an eye on the dates. It was fairly quiet when I went and most people were 50 plus so no rowdyness.

This isn't a luxury resort or hotel so don't expect it but it certainly offers excellent value for money and a relaxing break. Two weeks would have been a bit too much for me but if you're someone who can spend time on the beach and not get bored (and you get good weather) you will be happy.

just returned from 10 days at foz atlantida had a great time. reception was quick and very freindly any questions answered and if they didnt know the answer they,d try to find out. we had room 55 twin beds seperate lounge and bedroom the apartment was huge. balcony got sun all afternoon.loads of hot water that ran of 2 water tanks.room cleaned every day. we went selfcatering and there was enough utensils to make a snack and a fridge for wine. FREE safes in the room.FREE airconditioning and if you wanted breakfast which looked like large continental it was 3 euro. you can keep room till 12oclock then leave luggage at reception no shower room but massive toilet behind reception to wash down and get changed if youve been on beach. had agreat time 1 min to beach this was our 4th time to montegordo and loved it would use again if price was right get a high floor then no tip tapping above you

I don't know why hotel has 4 stars for me it was 2-3. Rooms not very clean, not working WiFi, breakfast-for that price you can get nice meal up the town, bathroom -not working shower and you have to wait until hot water will heat, service-very hard to communicative, they don't understand English at all, and the worse part- it was very noisy up there.
The best part-brilliant location.
