A really nice clean hotel, spacious rooms with balcony.
The breakfast were good, same every day continental and English hot.
My only complaint was the lack of entertainment here, we had to go out and search for a lively place! Lots of OAP's, no-one in the bar at night.

It seems those in know find a bar with some music, we eventually found them.
Good to get a bus to Villa Real, and go over to Ayemonte, also a trip to Tavira is worthwhile.
There is a train station to get to Faro, we never tried this.

A fantastic beach resort, but winter a lack of entertainment spoiled our trip.

Room Tip: New rooms bigger, with flat screen TV and fridge.

Visiting friends in Monte Gordo.... November very quite, weather sunny and bright, not sure
if I would sunbathe. The beach is fabulous goes on for miles, possibly the best feature of
Monte Gordo, People lovely, food OK. Only had BB in hotel. Hotel spotless friendly, but not
4 star. UK 3 star. In the centre of town and a 5 min walk to beach. Only 2 stories high so not to overwhelming. Swimming pool heated and undercover..

Room Tip: Rooms over the main entrance had a better outlook.

The hotel is rather small scale, at a quiet square just a few blocks away from the boulevard. Wonderful North-african themed decorations, friendly staff, clean and spacious. It took them the full week to fix the wireless internet, which is only available in the lobby. Breakfast is standard, but don't expect too much. be careful with the ham, one morning it smelled funny. Dinner is OK, but there are lots of excellent restaurants just a stroll away.

Room Tip: The rooms at the back are larger and have a better bathroom. It is worth to give up the better view...

Have just come back form staying here Hotel excellent staff brilliant very friendly nothing to much trouble. Food was good we stayed half board and the evening meal was excellent with different menus everynight we were there for ten days. Only problem was that there was no entertainment except on saturday night which was very very old fashionsed more suitable to 70year olds this doesx need to be given some thought.

Lovely hotel rooms nice and clean beds comfortable only booked for breakfast which was plentiful good choice of food, never ate there at night time as there where many resturants to chose from. This is was our second time in Monte Gordo will return as it is nice and relaxing, not far from Spanish border and also Real Villa Santo Antonio is a must.

Just returned from this hotel and found it more or less as was stated in the reviews I read for it. My opinion:

+
Good location (near the beach and shops, bars etc). Nearby promenade where local items are sold (honey, jewellery, cakes, ice cream).
Clean room/bathroom (maid service every day if required), comfortable beds, clean sheets and towels and lots of hot water at any time. Plenty of toilet paper supplied.
Nice balcony with new table and chairs.
TV (not flat-screen for us as in one review); only BBC1 channel in English.
Clean breakfast area. Cooked breakfast (sausages are frankfurter and not nice) or cereal, juice. Individual orders placed.
Nice pool but freezing water!
Couple of areas to sit in near reception so not in room all the time.
Bar (did not use).
Restaurant (not really serving local food so did not use).

-
Room had dark furniture and lighting very dim.
Tiled floor throughout so be careful not to drop anything breakable. Noisy when those above are moving furniture.
No tea-making facilities in room. Take a travel kettle if you like your nightly cuppa.
Some rooms facing a play area where young children congregate well into the night (can be a little noisy).

Room Tip: Try to get room on 2nd floor as noise from that floor can be distracting when you want to relax in r...

We had mixed feeelings when we booked this hotel as there was a mix of reviews. We did not need to worry this was a really nice quiet hotel with the nicest staff I have ever come across they could not do enough to help. It had such a relaxed atmosphere and the room was lovely , beautifully clean with cleaners coming in to sweep the floor , clean etc every day they even made our beds. It is situated at one side of a quiet square where ther is a playground for children. We spent some of our time sitting on the balcony in the evening heat drinking wine and listening to the live music from the pub round the corner very romantic. In reply to those that said the rooms were dark and badly lit well with five lights in the room how much more do you need and yes the bar area was dark but it was a welcome retreat from the midday sun and you can sit outside. Monte Gordo has a beautiful beach with warm water and is two minutes from hotel(on foot). the town is mostly modern but it is a nice place for families with no sign of trouble, lager louts etc and is has a very laid back feel and is full of all nationalities. The food at the hotel was good but if you are vegetarian I would go for breakfast option only as the main meals were fish or meat but there is no shortage of places to eat in this town. Would definately go back.
