Having read other reviews I was generally suprised as Hotel was great, Beds really comfy, rooms spacious but basic. Hotel staff very pleasent. The hotel is catered more for portugese but if you are looking for a quiet relaxing holiday this is the place to stay. 10 mins to beach and 5 minutes to shops walking. supermarket is in the town about 10 minutes walk. Only down fall with hotel bar did not open for drinks the whole week we were their. also no were to get water in hotel or snacks. I would not Monte Gordo for young adults as their is no night life at all. So if you are looking for a relaxing holiday and very very cheap place to drink and eat out this is the place. oh no iron in room we had to go and buy one.

We booked this hotel very last minute... in fact the night before we arrived.
We didn't mange to arrange a transfer before we left the UK so had to arrange this at the airport upon arrive. The first quote we got for a taxi was 72euro!! we managed to get this down to 55euro. We did while we were there arrange a transfer through suntransfers.co.uk for our return.
Was a little worried that the hotel maybe they wouldn't have our booking from Hotels4U but was surprised upon check in.
On our confirmation it stated that checking in was from 1400.... but upon arrival at 12noon we were told it was 1600!!! after a little discussion we were told that it was fine for us to check in then and that we had been upgraded from a studio room which we had originally booked to a 1 bed apt.
The hotel reception staff were quite friendly and spoke many languages, which was needed due to the vast guests that were staying... Spanish, Dutch, French
Upon reflexion we probably would of been better with the studio apt originally booked.!!
We were allocated room 102..... this room was on the ground floor at the back of the hotel looking out on a white concrete wall and metal gates, had no sun what so every and had constant noise from the road. We had to keep our curtains drawn permanently for security and more so priv
The apt was very basic which we expected for the price... but we wasn't prepared for the level of basic.
No can opener, no kettle, no toaster, 1 frying pan, small thimble glasses,
Towels were supposed to be changed every 2 days this didn't happen.
Bed linen was supposed to be changed on 4th and 7th day... this didn't happen neither.
I had to constantly wear flip flops around the apt for the fear of stepping on long black hairs from the previous occupant.
The pool area was well maintained though and there was never ever trouble getting sunbeds and parasols... the pool was icy cold which was a relief from the stifling sunshine.
The location was perfect, Monte Gordo is a lovely little town with lots of little cafe bars spilling out on the streets centred mainly around a little square.
The supermarket was a short 4 min stroll away on the front main road facing the beach.
The beach is the busiest beach i have ever seen, and seem to stretch for miles... never a problem finding space on there though. (tip....bring a cool bag full of cold drinks and beer the prices on the beach are expensive especially compared to the prices in the local supermarkets)

Room small but adequate, nice big balcony with 2 sunbeds table and chairs and lovely views. Beautiful beach, and woodland walks. Excellent base for athletes for warm weather training or for touring round.
Pool area clean with plenty sunbeds.
Continental breakfast but plenty of everything. Resturants have good value meals for around 10e, good shopping area.
Would certainly come back, hopefully next year!

Nice hotel, good location and a good relation price / quality. The hotel is an average 3 stars, good enough to go for a weekend or so, maybe borring if you want to book more than a week. Pool zone is clean, but small, it has a 3m. by 3m. children pool also.
The staff were competent, but not very friendly. Breakfast is ok for a 3 star, clean service. If you go with car, parking is caothic, the hotel has a park, but you must leave a 40€ deposit plus 6€ for each day.

This hotel is in a quiet area but a short walk to the beach and restaurants. The rooms are clean, comfortable and air-conditioned. The best supplied for kitchen equipment (apart from a kettle) that I've seen in a long time. Although the breakfast is a little dull, it is more than adequate with plenty of bread, butter, ham, cheese, eggs, jam, cereal. The swimming area is good also. The bar is basic but there are lots of nice cafes nearby. A good value place to stay.

Just returned from spending 12 nights at the Alba hotel, on arrival the reception staff were very helpfull. We were allocated a room on the ground floor, that unfortunatially looked out on to the street behind the hotel, a rubbish view, this side of the hotel never got the sun. This also meant that people walking by could stare in at us, so we had to have our curtains shut a lot of the time.
The room was clean, 2 single beds, tv, fridge, kitchen area ,2 electric cooking rings. Bathroom, shower and bath. We booked bed and breakfast, breakfasts were continental style, ham, cheese, boiled eggs, toast, bread rolls, cereal, etc.
Overall the hotel was more in line with a two star, rooms basic dinning area basic a smalll lounge and bar area, pool area ok.
I wouuld recoment this hotel for anyone requiring a cheap break, however a lot better hotels can be found in Monte Gordo.
We did enjoy our stay, and all the staff were very friendly, and helpful.

We spent a "fantastic" 2 weeks in Monte Gordo, Portugal, this year, late September/early October.

It was our second time to Monte Gordo, and we returned to the same Hotel/Apartment - Alba!!

They have really lovely staff, so polite and friendly.

The rooms are cleaned every day and nothing is ever too much trouble for them.

We resumed our friendship with Miguel Horta, the assistant Manager, who we wade friends with last year. We even went to his wedding as his personal guests whilst we were there. His family made us most welcome and I cannot speak more highly of them.

The people in the town of Monte Gordo are wonderfully friendly. Our favorite restaurant was Restaurant O' Jamie. Fantastic food and wine.
Wonderful company.

If you go to Monte Gordo, hire a car from Faro Airport and visit the local area every day!!

Spain is only a short ferry trip away ( about 10 mins)

We will be returning again next year to see all of our friends again.
