Monte Gordo, Hotel Navegadores, Algarve, Portugal
Date: June 26, 2009
Reviewer: Trip Advisor member, Londom, UK
Its star rating is is higher for what it provides.but located in nice area with good beaches. Do not provide beach towels, but you can take bath towel at your risk.Room entry cards sometimes do not work. More partonised by crowds of Spanish pensioners. Do not give meal or packed meal in lieu of missed one , like some hotels do, if you miss reataurant timings due to late arrival or early departures.
Food taste is horible and have littel to choose from.

After reading some of the reviews, I thought 'Oh no' but I must say everything was good, except the food and being forarmed we took extra money to buy out.Hotel very clean, staff friendly, nice spot in the village, nothing else to fault. The village was small and easy to get around, miles of beach, some great resaurantes and bars and not too many shops. Would go back again.

walking through the dirty glass doors of this hotel my first thoughts were"oh my golly, what have i done".being then told by unhelpfull staff i could not book in for another three hours made me think"oh dear"when we got access to our room it was spotless, full marks there and spotless during our stay.downside was the bed, very hard with poor pillows, also shower was a trickle and bath took ages to get enough to bathe in.access to the dining room is down two short flights of stairs, very difficult if the legs are a bit wonky which most of the diners appeared to be.food was yukk! breakfast o.k. if like me you like toast and tea.bartender was nicknamed the undertaker, enough said! so if your a brit don*t go there, any entertainment(and i use the word with a grin) is not for you.monte gordo is fairly pleasant, plenty of bars and snack bars, the garden bar down at the front is a good place to go and best night out was a gay bar down the front and to the left, full marks roberto you made a couple of straights very welcome, but we will not be back to monte gordo

First impressions - the "hotel" looks like a bottle green concrete block! The staff on reception were quite helpful. But we were told that our room would be ready in 20 mins, 2 hours and 3 hours! It was actually about an hour.

Your have to fight your way through a crowd of men smoking on the steps to get into the place. By the time you get in you stink of smoke and must have lungs full of it!

The room was basic but clean.Linen was changed on a regular basis.

The "school canteen! Oh my goodness! It was awful. Crowded, staff running round like headless chickens but not actually doing much. The food was slopped onto plates with little regard as to whether it hit the plate or not. They ran out of coffee, cups, saucers, sugar, bread rolls and spoons. Breakast was a joke. Cheap cereals tasting like cardboard and reconstituted fruit drinks! Dinner was a free-for-all. Not that the food was worth eating anyway.

What can I say to save other people from the same experience that we had except that other eating places in the area were fine.
