The Hotel is very comfortable with pleasant helpful staff, excellent housekeeping (towels changed daily and sheets changed with regularity), and again such pleasant people carrying out this service. Nothing is of too much trouble to anyone. The buffet breakfast was more than adequate, the choice of cooked or Continental breakfasts were very good, the tables for 2,4,6 or more and plenty of room between tables. How anyone can dare to grumble about the lack of "proper bacon" whilst in Europe is beyond comprehension to me, and on a few days there was "proper bacon" which proves that they try to suit all tastes. All of the hotel is spotlessly clean, with the ares around the hotel swept daily. This hotel visitors are mainly middle aged and above, and all amenities are close by, the pool with snack bar, and a private beach on which there're is a small restaurant belonging to the hotel. I highly recommend this hotel for it's great standards, for being peaceful and being on the beach too! The only reason I have not given 4 stars is because we did not have an evening meal for we like to "eat local"! We shall be returning next year.

Right on a magnificent beach, very clean, good food and plenty of it.
We were hooked right from the start when we arrived at 4am owing to a very delayed flight and found in out room two beautifully laid out salads and fresh fruit. So we sat on our balcony at 4.00amp listening to the waves and eating a beautiful unexpected meal. Thank you for your thoughtfulness.
We found all staff friendly and the room cleaning staff especially so.
    Would recommend.

Room Tip: We emailed a week before and asked for a sea view and a top floor. Very pleased with that. The lift system works well and the views are excellent.

We have just returned from spending ten days at this hotel and have had a fantastic holiday. I am disabled and have a wheelchair and was aware of all previous comments regarding all the steps but once the staff showed us which lifts to use we managed to get about the hotel fine. I had emailed beforehand and asked for a particular floor and was given a beautiful room with a lovely sea view and could easily fit my wheelchair in the room. The breakfast was lovely with a big choice and all the hotel staff were very pleasant and helpful. I could not fault the hotel and even though it is an old hotel it has lots of character and the position of the hotel is unrivelled. We will be definitely be returning to this hotel in the near future.

Just got back from one week at The Vasco da Gama at Monte Gordo and I have nothing but positives. The food was lovely not a vast choice but enough, sometimes too much choice and poor quality go together, and yes the Hotel is a bit aged through time but we found this quite nice the reception and the bar areas are wood paneled and have loads of comfortable seating and a really relaxing ambiance, happy hours five until seven, the whole place is kept nice and clean no problems there, we saw a brilliant guitar vocalist and the pianist is good as well. Everything worked well in the rooms air con etc. Staff are helpful and polite, The pool area is great nice and quiet and the pool is excellent if you're a swimmer, sun beds in abundance,
The beach speaks for itself nearly white fine sand for miles no wonder the Portuguese go there for their hols, which is one reason I think why the restaurants are quite cheap, drinks and food are very reasonable, we enjoyed walking through the streets and stopping off at the various watering holes.
We would definitely return for a really relaxing time.
