The beach is just lovely, beautiful golden sand and it is cleaned every night, we have watched this being done from the terrace at Vasco da Gama as the sunset and we are just longing to go back. We have walked along this beach many times and just love it. The locals obviously love their beach and it is busy but not overcrowded, always room to walk for miles.

12 miles of golden sand, cristal clean water, it's like a giant swimming pool, no waves at all. Lifeguards every 100 mts, safe and cleaned every night.
Monte Gordo has over 300 days of sun a year and the waters are very warm due being so close to the mediterranean sea so the further into the Algarve you travel the colder temperatures are.
No drunk people, no swearing and a very family orientated village where you can walk with your kids past midnight.

We have been visiting Monte Gordo for four years as our relaxing beach holiday having found it by accident. The 11 mile walking sandy beach is one of the best we have been on and that includes Cocacabana and Ipamena beaches in Rio which we visited in April this year. The town is not a pretty place as they have allowed building which should never have taken place on the sea front but there are many other good things about it. It is very popular with the Portuguese and Spanish also the Dutch. There are few Brits here which is great. It is very family orientated and there is no rowdyism or drunkeness and it is super not to hear bad language at all.
The main square is very buzzy and the numerous restaurants off a wide choice for dining out. Bikes can be hired for 4 Euros a day and dedicated cycle paths enable great cycling. Water sports are available and the sea is good for swimming and wave jumping. It is easy to get around on the local bus and horse drawn carts offer a tour of the town for 15 Euros. Its just a lovely holiday destination for families and couples and we aim to return again next year for three weeks.

Loved the friendly, layed back feeling, very family originated area, you could walk around midnight feeling safe families out and about eating and buying icecream! And no one drunk or rowdy, such a joy to find, Sorry if that sounds anti british.

the beach in Monte Gordo is just lovely miles of white sand great for walking. Also sandy in the water for swimming, great for kids. they have life saving teams right along the beach and pedalos and jet skis to rent. Lots of beach bars and there is even the fishing boats who will sell you fish if you get down when they come in with their catch.
