“A really good family holiday”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 July 2010

Stayed here with two children 9 and 4 years. We arrived here at 1 am in the morning, and it was very quiet at that time except for the security man who was walking around the hotel. We booked a suite which was a really good size and right by the pool, we had our own patio area with table and chairs. The hotel is very well run, lots going on all day and evening. The food is excellent and plenty of choice each day. The service is excellent at the bar with lovely people, and drinks are not limited. The entertainment is good with a laid back atmosphere and the more willing you are to join in the activities the better time you will have. The last review said that they had trouble sleeping with the noise. All the entertainment finished at 12 and no music was played after this time which meant we had good a sleep every night. If you have children who enjoy joining in with the activities this is the place for you, so you can also having a relaxing holiday. Brilliant.

We arrived @ 21.00 to find there was no record of our booking (Did the Thomson rep not check?) However the staff helped us out. We had a quick supper and then went for a drink. We couldn't hear ourseleves think let alone speak. The entertainment team, or rather the male part, seemed to believe that the volume control should only be on not just full but absolutely deafening. On an evening I was told that the show contained the inapporpriate use of balloons (I will say no more) and that it was embarassing for parents with young children to say the least and this was a family-friendly place!. Also, football and tennis were being played @ 23.00 some nights - which meant that sleep was difficult. Some of the guests had no concern about how their actions impinged upon their fellow guests. The management need to impose some discipline or there will be some serious injuries caused.
BUT
The female members of the entertainment team were very good, The staff in general were excellent both in the bar and in the dining room. and the food was fine and I liked the fact that it was generally Spanish and was available all the time during meals (there was no need to rush to be there early to get a good choice). I do not tip that often but we did for the staff here, save the entertainment team. One complaint however was that when we asked for a picnic we basically got two slices of dry white bread with a bit of ham and cheese and not much else.
We booked four days before arriving and so saved £207 each for a week on an all-inclusive basis. If we had paid the full price I would have been really disappointed.
As it was my initial thought of joining the escape committee mellowed and that was because of the efforts of the staff mentioned above but the problems mentioned above regarding the male entertainment team and that lack of discipline on the site meant that I felt sad that what could have been a really good week was rather something that we coped with..

My husband ,myself daughter, partner and our 4 grandchildren have just returned from an enjoyable week at this lovely hotel. It is exceptionally good for a 2/3* hotel and the food is excellent and better than a few 5* hotels we have been to.All the staff work exceptionally hard and the animation team are tops and the kids love them. The hotel is a 20/30 minute stroll through a wooded area with a purpose made path to the town or a courtesy bus ride of 6 minutes. The town itself has an abundance of cafes/restaurants and shops with a typically spanish feel. there is also a beech and boat trips. The hotel is spotlessly clean and reception staff/management very amiable and eager to accomodate, such as extra pillowsetc We paid an extra 65 euros to update our room to 2 bedrooms as the room we booked was too small for our needs. We were given a choice of alternatives. There was more than enough sunbeds,a massive pool plus a smaller one plus two kids pools and a jaccuzi You need to take your own pool towels and a hair dryer as not provided. the alcoholic drinks are of generous measures and potent. There are lots of soft drinks /beverages so all are catered for The all inclusive option was well worth the money. All in all a very nice hotel with hard working amiable staff and ideal for children.!

Cannot understand any bad reviews for San Eloy. Food was brillian and plentiful. Activities all day and night long, brilliant for what everyone wants to do. Entertainment staff, bar and restaurant staff and cleaners worked so hard all day and night, we cannot complain. As for a previous reviewer complaining about the wasps, if people put their rubbish in bins and did not leave empty sugary plastic cups by the pool, perhaps this might lessen the problem. Also, thank you to the bus driver, who always had a smile on his face and to Lydia, who always helped my daughter and me with learning of the Spanish language. Daniel, the lifeguard, was also a hero. Many fond memories of San Eloy. Wil be back.

There was 14 of us stayed at San Eloy, with children from the ages of 3-10. All the children loved it, there was plenty to keep them occupied during the day. The animation team were excellent with them and they worked really hard rehearsing for the evening shows in between. The location was a bit disapointing as it was in the middle of nowhere. However, there was a shuttle bus running from the hotel, the first week it ran every two hours but the second it was every hour, if you are all inclusive it was free, but like us if you was half board you had to pay 1 euro for adults and 50 cents for children every time you use the bus, which over two weeks mounted up!! There isn't really a safe route to walk into the town either as there is part of the road with no path so you end up having to walk in a very busy road, which isn't ideal when you have children.
The food wasn't that great, the choice was minimal and they didn't cater much for children, my children ended up living on chips and tomato sauce!! The staff however were very very friendly and accomodating.
The rooms needed a bit of an uplift, but on the other hand they were perfect what we needed as there was a fridge and a cooker in there.
Overall we all enjoyed ourselves, the staff were lovely and as it was only a 2 star hotel it met our expectations and was good value for money.

We went here in September and had an ok break but it wasn't really what i was hoping for.
The weather struggled to get above 20 degrees so that let it down a little but obviously not the fault of the hotel.
The first major problem for me was that it was completely over run with wasps, you couldn't have a drink outside or there would be a swarm of them in minutes. They were also all around the pool, which just put me off sitting out at all.
Therefore, spent a lot of time down in Tossa or Lloret, which while nice added to the cost of the holiday.

The food at the hotel was basic, fine if you enjoy chips with every meal but nothing traditionally spanish which was disappointing.

The entertainment was generally good with lots of activities throughout the day and evening to get involved in.
My stay here was 2 weeks and honestly one week was more than enough. Had the weather been better I may have enjoyed it more, but the mountainous location and bugs really out me off and left me spending 2 weeks sitting inside reading books.

This is a self contained hotel which is aimed mainly at young families. We took our 5 year old and 2 year old and they both loved it.
The castle style construction is ideal as it creates a secure, safe enclosure for the children. Staff are all very friendly and helpful, English is fluent with the majority. The rooms are basic but clean and functional although not much time is spent in them apart from sleeping.
The food and drinks are very good in variety and quality, with famous names being served from behind the bar. There are 3 swimming pools to choose from; a large rectangular pool, a smaller circular one and a small infants paddling pool, all have some shade throughout the day. The whole place is geared towards family fun which is demonstrated by the hourly kids games hosted by the entertainment team. On an evening the outdoor stage is busy with competitions and performances from the staff or outside entertainers, with the emphasis on crowd participation.
The hotel is set outside of Tossa centre backing onto the woods which cover the surrounding hills. This makes it very picturesque despite the lack of a sea view. There is a mini bus hourly which sets off from near to the circular pool into town which only takes about 7 minutes, it picks up where it drops off so you can return to the hotel at your leisure. Last bus back is 9pm. Most guests are English mixed with the French and the Dutch. The atmosphere is really laid back and after a few days you feel right at home. The set up at San eloy is quite different to our last "big hotel holiday" but even in August there was no need for the towels on sunbeds at 6am routine every day infact we came back from a morning in tossa to find our space by the pool still free at 12pm!!
There are plenty of bus trips to go on from the hotel including Barcelona, Marineland (very good) and Lloret de mar.
We were really impressed with this hotel and would go back without hesitation.
