“Excellent Tapas Bar/Restaurant”
Reviewed 16 March 2014

We had been looking for a supermarket to do some food shopping in Maspalomas when we stumbled across this string of local bars and restaurants away from the tourist centre. In particular this bar was excellent, with very authentic Spanish tapas at a reasonable price (long gone are the days when tapas were given free with the drinks:-().

The selection of tapas was extensive, with a good choice of fish, meat and salad dishes, all well presented and served.

Although initially a little reserved, the service was good and the waiters did warm up once we made an effort to engage with them.

With over 40 years travelling around Spain we believe we know a good tapas bar when we find one, and this was the best we found in the south of Gran Canarias - we visited several times for lunch and it was excellent every time.

Certainly MUCH better than some other supposed tapas bars in Playa del Ingles:)

“Nothing great about it and not the best for tapas”
Reviewed 8 March 2014

No not the best for tapas as what we could read here ! what a let down !
First the décor is probably what you could see in any big franchise chain of pseudo typical restaurants, too much and could be anywhere.
Then if the waiters are amicable they are completely tourists money orientated, their advice on wine goes immediately yo the most expensive bottle on the list which is invariably a bad sign in a restaurant. Then the wine list is very poor and not the best in spanish wine if they have a Beronia which can be excellent of course they produce the bad one, not even crianza or reserva but a young horror!
The food, we went for tapas as it is so much appraised here ! probably by people so fed up with the touristy horrors of the yumbo that they have lost their common sense or taste!
No they are not great, just average and the quantity as much to be desired ! The cheese plate was ordinary manchego in no quantity and nothing of a good canarian cheese just supermarket quality ! half portion for 7,50 € ! the croquettes were too small and just 4 of them and just the tortilla was somewhat better than the rest, only one good point is their homemade breat which is fantastic, we had an other tapas but can not even remember what as it was nothing to be impressed about, so little for more than 35 € !
There are much better tapas in Arrinaga or in aguimes for far less and of better quality. we will not go back there and are sorry to read that tourist can consider this tourist trap for authentic !

“Food OK but small portions”
Reviewed 8 February 2014 via mobile

Spent 30 Europa on two tiny tapas, and two portions of fish plates. No salad, each fish plate came with 5 small potatos. Taste was OK but nothing special. I would not got there again for sure.
