A lovely spot by the sea and good facilities for children with pools, tennis etc. We had one of the villa rooms so plenty of space. But the best thing about this hotel is the friendly home-from-home service. Would go back. Being refurbished which should refresh it. Please get more comfortable beds!

Room Tip: Villa rooms by the sea are best with their own terrace

Very nice hotel, cleaning ladies were wonderful, very efficient and nice. Just one big problem with people saving the sun beds, I did not get close to pool the whole of the week. We came down at about 8.30 after breakfast and there were towels all over. I could get over that somewhat , but lots an lots!! of people turned up after lunch and late afternoon. I did think a lot of good hotels had stopped that now by using a pool man to keep on top of it. I would not go again I afraid to say.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view.

I have stayed at this hotel several times, it always gives good service and good quality in everything, it is in a good area which is good for walking around the resort, the beach is nearby but the hotel has many facilities, however it is good to see the local life and the evenings have entertainment at the hotel or in the local town, the food is excellent and service second to none,

Room Tip: Ask for room overlooking the pool if possible,

Its the staff that make this place a pleasure to stay in. Initial reception was superb waiting staff excellent and friendly and cleaning ladies pleasant and efficient. All say good morning good afternoon when they see a guest.
Stayed in the small appartment blocks in the garden. very comfortable with small living room then bedroom and bathroom/ Food excellent. One small gripe is coffee served at breakfast definitely designed for the German customers. poor quality weak filter coffee I want a strong Spanish coffee in the morning.

Only reason did not offer five stars was that hotel closing this weekend and they started to remove facilities as the week went on. Sunbeds became a game of musical chairs as every day more were removed to get ready for the refurb. Even diggers were arriving and one of the pools began to empty before guests left. That was poor. the big bosses marching round the complex suited and booted should learn from their staff about customer service as they repeatedly ignored clients and used quite colourful language in front of guests. Even some of us English speak fluent spanish.

Wi Fi was not available in the grounds of the Hotel and the smaller swimming pool area either/

I am concerned about the refurb and upgrading to five star as this will raise prices and perhaps lose some of the informality of teh staff that makes this place such a joy to stay in.

Another great holiday at the Riu Palace Meloneras. If anything better than our last visit, and I hope to return. Lovely old style hotel, great foyer/ reception area. 1st class staff in all areas. Lovely large airy rooms and bathrooms, due an imminent refurb' & I only know because I was told. The hotel is in a great location as its large grounds stretch down to the walkway at the sea front, from here you can walk (or as most do) jog, either along to the Meloneras resort or toward Maspalomas passing lovely shops and restaurants. (Meloneras resort could do with a bit of investment, the centre there isn't at its best). Two great pools at the hotel, happy Martin keeping everyone smiling and topped up with their vitamin drink each morning! Two restaurants the main buffet and the Krystal. Both serving excellent choice and quality. Krystal had the same set menu as last year so it may be worth updating especially for returning customers (or as they say there, the boomerang set). The buffet can get a bit busy but it's never too bad, everyone is polite and gets on with it and the staff NEVER stop replenishing. Cafe type restaurant by the pool, could use a few more menu options for lunch.
To balance then - the air con was a bit ineffective (but the new work will sort that out) not much choice of TV for Brits, evening entertainment is poor (but then most are). One younger waiter at the pool cafe didn't wash his hands after using the loo & that is my main concern to be addressed. Internet wi-fi is abysmally slow and needs upgrading, and no need for that 20 Euro for a safe key - OK if the key is lost but otherwise why charge?. Will I return - wish we were still there!!!!!!!!!!

Room Tip: Higher floor the better, but all are good.

The Hotel RUI Palace is located on the southern-most point of Meloneras; as a result, it is the closest of the classy 4* Meloneras sea front hotels to the Masplomas lighthouse with its large range of shops, bars and restaurants....it means that it is one of the closest hotels to the fabulous Masplomas beach, without straying into Masplomas itself and its own range of 'other' hotels.

From the outset this was an experience (not least as the airport taxi driver deposited us to the wrong RUI hotel, which was fortunately next door!!)...the grand foyer and incredibly welcoming staff were a fine start, the free glass of cava, whilst the staff made the necessary booking-in arrangements, was the icing on the cake!

I was fortunate in finding a great deal on a Hotel villa suite, and we were not disappointed when the porter led us through the hotel gardens to the villas, which comprised of a dozen-or-so, two-storey buildings spread out throughout the gardens - each building typically had 4 suites on each floor. The rooms comprised: an entrance way with mini-bar; small lounge with TV; a large bedroom - a spacious terrace led of from the bedroom's patio door (therefore, make sure that you get a first-floor room for extra privacy and loads more sun!!) The rooms were spotlessly clean, and our every wish was immediately catered for; indeed, small maintenance jobs were undertaken as the cleaning staff spotted them - no need for guest involvement at all!!

Half-board appeared the norm and comprised a buffet-style breakfast (08:00-10:30) and two dinner sittings (18:00 and 20:00). The food throughout was superb, with only the 'buffet experience' of queuing for your meals, and the fact that all but the grill-to-order food was less than piping hot, taking the varnish off what was an outstanding selection of cold and hot food. The hotel also had an a-la-carte restaurant which, unusually for hotels, was included within the half board tariff - this was a great change for a night and the food was truly exceptional, albeit the menu was somewhat limited AND did not change from day to day - an opportunity lost in my opinion. Other reviewers have commented on 2 hrs being insufficient for dinner; I dread to think how much food someone could consume in that time - an hour an a half was plenty for us to have numerous courses and chat over a bottle of wine....you rarely get more that 2 hrs in a UK restaurant anyway.

It wouldn't be a balanced review without some pros and cons:

+ Awesome staff
+ Good food
+ Fantastic location
+ Recently refurbished to an exceptional standard

- The only wifi was in the foyer, there was no wifi AT ALL throughout the remainder of the hotel, what century is this?!?
- The a la carte restaurant menu did not change
- Restricted facilities for families with small children.
- As with most European hotels, there was no tea/coffee facilities in the rooms, so take a kettle!

There's lots of 4* hotels in Meloneras; having walked around others I can safely say that I chose wisely - I highly recommend it, we had a fantastically relaxing stay.

Room Tip: Villa suites, located in the hotel's garden, are without a doubt the rooms to pay extra for. To...

Stayed at this hotel as a family and have to say it was relaxing, pleasant and above all a very good experience.
The hotel is well located in th heart of the town, next to the promenade, restaurants, shops and the ocean! The restaurant caters well with a very wide ranging menu - buffet style. Presentation is good and quality of food is good. The only negative is that the presentation can look tired quickly as the masses gather their food and take their pickings. Staff try to pretty it up when they see the unsightly array. The swimming pools are a good size and you don't need to worry about the early morning towel on the bd brigade. There are plenty of seats/loungers and the clientele is mature.
The gym and sauna are small and unisex. Not such an issue, unless you are offended with large pot bellied men sitting in the sauna undraped.
The wifi system is poor with access only available at the reception area. Not available in the rooms.
The entertainment is interesting. None of them would get past the first round in the X factor! Having said all that the staff and management are exemplary. They take pride in the service they provide and offer genuine caring service. They make the stay very enjoyable.
