My partner and I visited this hotel but stayed for just one night before transferring to the Villa del Conde which was much more to our taste. Will not be negative about the hotel but really can't understand why it is so popular - and so expensive!

My wife, 1 year old son (23 months) and I have just returned from the Seaside Palm Beach from a 2-week stay, on a half-board basis. On arrival, the reception staff were friendly and courteous. We were offered welcome drinks in the lounge area, whilst we waited a short time for our room to be ready (we were early). Without exception staff were always polite and helpful, and made a big fuss of our son, which made us feel at ease. A special mention to Rocio, Hotel Manager, and Lelianne, Assistant Manager, who were truly excellent.

The hotel is located only 100 yards or so from the beach, 50 yards to the nearest supermarket and a short walk to the bus station, taxi rank, beach bars/restaurants and excellent shops and boutiques. It is also less than a 30 minute transfer from Las Palmas airport, which is very helpful with a young son to entertain.

The food was always of an excellent standard, lots of variety and well presented. The requirements of our son could always be accommodated and if there was anything that was not on the menu, we could ask for an alternative to be prepared. Breakfast was exceptional and always set us up for the day. We ate at the restaurant every night of our stay, the food was so good we did not feel the need to go elsewhere. The evening meal alternated nightly between a la carte and 'barbeque'. Perhaps the hotel ought to rename their 'barbeque' night, because it offered far more than a typical UK barbeque, with a wide variety of meat, fish, vegetables, salad, and just about anything else you could ask for. The hotel was also prepared for you to swap evening meal for lunch. On occasions, we did have a light lunch at the pool bar.

We had a double room with cot-bed, and balcony, with an upgrade to a pool view. The room was cleaned daily, with bedding and towels changed without fail. We were also given complimentary bottled water and chocolates every evening. The hotel maids were really friendly and we were particularly impressed with Nieves, who our son enjoyed seeing at the end of every day.

We were very impressive with the number of pools on offer. We used the children's pool, complete with slide, and smaller baby pool, which was fantastic for the younger children. The main adults pool was a great size and never overly busy. There was also a separate saltwater 'quiet' pool for those wishing to relax. Adjoining this pool was the wellness centre and spa. The pool staff were always friendly and available to help with providing mattresses and umbrellas as soon as we arrived. Staff from the pool bar were also available to take drinks orders and bring them to you poolside.

We would recommend this hotel and would have no hesitation in returning in the future. Definitely 5-star!

Room Tip: We had a double room with a cot-bed for our 1 year old son, on the 2nd floor, i.e. same floor as rec...

As soon as we checked in to the hotel the warm and welcoming receptionist informed us that dinners in the hotel restaurant are a "pants only" policy for men. Because of that, my husband and I took almost 2 hours to go find and buy pants from the nearby shopping mall, both of us starving for food, otherwise we would not have been permitted to have dinners in our hotel restaurant. What's wrong with this picture? I know that it is a 5 star hotel and because of that it has its high standards to maintain, but is it fair that to not be allowed to eat at a hotel which we are paying 1500 EUROS for (we're paying half board in addition to the room for 5 nights)? When we bought the pants we were told by the shop owners that many people buy pants from them every single day because of the same reason from this same hotel, so we were not the only ones!

Furthermore, to be confirmed, but I believe that drinks are an extra charge to the half board we have paid for. Perhaps that too is normal but that sounds a bit ridiculous to me, especially if we're paying for two meals a day, it doesn't even include tea or coffee or drinks, at least for dinner.

Also, beware for a bit of a swirly long walk to the hotel with your suitcases if you're getting off at the bus/cab station at the beginning of Oasis St. We had to ask a nearby bar how to get to the hotel. It is not easy to find. You can, of course, take a cab from that station but it'd take 1 minute and you'd be paying for that.

There are complimentary water bottles in our rooms but who knows if they will be replenished, but we expect it.

There is free wifi but 90% of the time it doesn’t work, and when it works it is very slow. Cellular phone connection is bad too as it comes in and out frequently.

We expected something more from our room, we're paying a fortune for a 5 star hotel after all. Nothing special and our room is actually quite small.

All in all, this hotel is definitely overrated and it is not worth half the amount of money we've invested into it. If you want a nice hotel, go to a 4 star one because surely you'll get what you paid for at least. I've read other people's opinions that it's owned by Germans and the standard is high and that many older people loyally return every year because they know the owners. Before you book a room at this hotel, make sure you know the details before believing the "high reputation" which it reportedly, but not in reality, ranks.

Room Tip: Also, beware for a bit of a swirly long walk to the hotel with your suitcases if you're getting...

Dear Seaside Palm Beach Guest,

Thank your for posting a review on Tripadvisor.

Our hotel applies the standard dress code for luxury hotels (4 and 5 star hotels) and therefore short trousers and sleeveless shirts are indeed not permitted at dinner in our restaurant.

Furthermore please note that drinks are generally not included in half board offers.

We are very sorry that you have not been informed about this prior to your arrival and wish to apologize for any inconvenience caused.

Since we strive to exceed the expectations of our guests we are happy when we can fulfill wishes or solve issues right away. In case our guests are not satisfied with the allocated room, we therefore always try to offer an alternative one, whenever availability allows it.

Moreover our reception would have gladly furnished you with a detailed description on how to reach our hotel with local transport. However please be informed that the Tour Operator busses drop our guests off right at the barrier in front of the hotel. When our guests or the bus driver rings the bell at the barrier our bell boys will help carrying the luggage.

We are sorry that the free wifi did not always function perfectly. Please rest assured that we are working on optimizing the connection.

Since it is important that all our guests leave happy we would appreciate very much – should you still be on site – if you could contact me or my management team if we can do something in order to make your stay an enjoyable one.

Once again we would like to thank you for your feedback and remain

With kind regards,

Myself and my husband stayed in the Palm Beach from 2 August for one week. From the minute we arrived to the minute we left it was 5 star all the way, Staff couldnt be more courteous, food was excellent, rooms and grounds were excellent. Lots of little touches that made things special. We would highly recommend this hotel. Excellent location and many shops and restaurants just a stroll away. We used the local bus service to go to Palmitos Park and Peuro Mogan and everything went very smoothly. The bus station is a short walk from the hotel. I look forward to making a return visit.

My husband and I and a couple of friends spent the first week in July at the Seaside Palm Beach and what a find (thank you Tripadvisor reviewers). From the moment we arrived everything was superb and queries dealt with really quickly. We were given a sea facing room at first although we had booked a pool facing room as reccomended. One of the wonderful team of duty managers was immediately summoned and our room changed. The team of duty managers (all female as far as we could tell) were so attentive and helpful constantly checking all was well - special thanks to Stephanie. Rooms well appointed, spotless and spacious and being pool side we had sun all afternoon, lovely to sit out before dinner. Dinner as others describe alternate between Barbeque/Buffet and Al a Carte. All the food was delicious, if there was a course not to your liking on the al la carte evenings they would happily offer an alternative. As for the barbeque I can honestly say that the description is a real understatement - so much choice and so fresh and uterlly delicious. We also swapped dinner for lunch a couple of times and the lunch offering was also superb. We loved the sea facing pool, joining in the (very easy) pool aerobics, using the lovely open air gym and playing boule. Beds were always available, towels in abundance. The sunbeds are possibly the most comfortable ever.
It as also our first experience of Maspalomas - we wanted a week in the sun, near the beach, with a spa, gym, some walks - the beach and dunes are amazing, lovely retail therapy, bit of entertainment and an alternative choice of restaurants and bars. We got it all.
As to the hotel being full of Germans after all it is German owned and benefits from their great efficiency, we found ourselves speaking to Dutch, Spanish, Austrian, Belgian, French and of course good old Brits.
We were sorry to leave and will be go back.

Room Tip: Book a pool room - from floor 4 upwards.

Myself and my partner stayed half board for one week at the Palm Beach Hotel in July 2013. We were very impressed with the hotel. Our room was lovely and it was serviced twice a day - the free bottles of water, chocolates and use of bath robes were much appreciated. We had a room on the ground floor overlooking the pool; privacy was a little limited on ground floor due to people walking past (had to keep the curtains shut!) but the room was lovely and had sunlight in the evening so we could sit on the balcony. We felt sorry for anyone on the ground floor one the other side of the hotel as there would have been a view of the car park so try to avoid this where possible.

The food was lovely (alternative buffet/BBQ and a la carte nights) although the drinks service was slow and service in general a little slow on the a la carte evenings. Staff very polite and friendly. The breakfast buffet is AMAZING!!! Anything you could ever want.

There is hardly anything going on in the hotel in the evening, empty bar (where were all the guests!?), no proper entertainment, so we found this quite boring. It is mostly older German couples who stay there (I am 30 and my partner is 32). Usually on holiday we are happy to hang out in the hotel bar and watch whatever is going on and have a few beers but most nights we walked into Meloneras or got a taxi to Playa del Ingles as it was just so quiet at the hotel. I would have to say I wouldn't recommend this hotel for younger couples, or groups of friends, or anyone looking for a lively holiday. Saying that, the bar is actually lovely although drinks are a little on the expensive side but this is what you expect for a 5 star hotel. We were confused at first but you pay for drinks on a tab (no one offers this information you have to work it out!) by signing a receipt with name and room number. We decided to pay ours mid-week as well as at the end so that it didn't get out of hand.

The hotel is practically on the sand dunes which is great, and very close to bars/restaurants of Meloneras (although mostly restaurants, no lively bars). When at the hotel during the day, we spent most of our time at the amazing flotation pool! This is slightly heated so no shocks when getting in, and is mineral enriched so you can float. The jacuzzi areas of the pool are so relaxing. We never had any problems with getting sunbeds and it stayed hot and sunny well into the evening which was great if we had been out and about in the day. Don't bother booking excursions - the hotel is a few minutes away from bus/taxi station with very easy to use bus service (they have a helpful website).

Great hotel and very helpful friendly staff - thank you.

Room Tip: Overlooking pool is best

Dear Seaside Palm Beach Guest,

Thank you very much for taking the time to review your holiday on Tripadvisor.

We are glad to hear that you were impressed with our hotel, appreciated our friendly and helpful team and enjoyed your stay to the fullest.

In the summer time we entertain our guests with live music and shows at our African Bar as well as with ambient music on our restaurant terrace and in the bar.

The majority of our guests choose our Seaside Palm Beach**** in order to relax and to enjoy its quiet location close to the famous dunes of Maspalomas. However Playa del Inglés and Puerto Rico (both famous for offering a lively nightlife) are just a short taxi ride away from our Resort.

Furthermore we wish to thank you for your comment regarding the service at the a la carte evenings, which we have already shared with the relevant team members.

It was a pleasure having you as our guests and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the near future.

Kind regards,

Rocío Cibrán
