Our first visit to this very welcoming hotel, where all the staff took great pride in making you feel welcome. The twice weekly buffets were the highlight off the dinning experience, all the food was delicious although the service was somewhat erratic at times and some of the younger staff seemed quiet nervous.

There definitely seems a pecking order for the sun beds, we weren't able to get the same bed twice although certain guests appeared to fair better. We were outnumbered 10 to 1 by occasionally over boisterous Germans.

Taxis arranged by hotel expensive, probably could be organised easily and cheaper yourself.
Overall an enjoyable place to stay.

Thank you for having chosen the Seaside Grand Hotel Residencia during your recent visit to beautiful Gran Canaria.

It is a pleasure to read that you had an overall enjoyable stay and that you highlighted the famous Seaside Barbecue that we offer twice a week. I regret that you found the service at times erratic.

We do have always more sun beds available than we have guests in our hotel. Therefore there is no need to reserve them.

In regards to the taxis I would like to let you know that all taxis work with a meter and the taxi rates are exactly the same. Taxis that are ordered charge 0.50 € extra than taxis you get on the street. If you refer to the airport transfer, the price is slightly higher. Please keep in mind that we work with a limousine company and the driver meets and greets you at the airport. The transfer will be made in private chauffeured cars and the difference is not even 10.00 €.

The trouble with going to this hotel -- and it is not cheap -- is that it totally spoils you for anywhere else in the Canaries or indeed other holiday hotels in Europe. Rarely can a hotel get so much right and put so much effort into getting it right.

We did not like the location of the room we were allocated on arrival and a posse of staff from reception to duty manager worked long and hard to get an alternative.

The rooms are magnificent: the grounds beautifully cared for: the service by what seems a huge staff is outstanding. Even the pool attendant moves your shade during the day. There ARE more than an adequate number of loungers but there is the usual scrabble in the morning.

As for the food we are talking quite exceptional quality -- on some nights to an almost Michelin standard, with high quality cuts of meat. The waiters, with just two exceptions, followed high class service and did not lean across you to serve wine or food.

Downsides, if you have a ground floor room -- as we do for health reasons -- you are at the mercy of people above walking up and down with their shoes on at all times. Perhaps a notice in such rooms asking people to show consideration and remove their shoes might help.

There is a slight problem with night time entertainment. The hotel recently lost an immensely popular group, Chakra. The woman on one of their replacements gave the impression it was the last place she wanted to be. And a classical violinist and pianist seems a bizarre idea for a Saturday night in a holiday hotel.

Oh, and the hotel brochure boasts "Dogs on request". But when we asked for a dog they didn't have one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Other than those few quibbles, magnificent.

For the fourth time we went to this hotel and again we had a great time. Staff very friendly, (especially the two Paco's). Food wonderful and room very nice. We will be back next year and enjoy out fifth visit. Hotel is also fit for people with mobility problems.

This is our 5th visit. This hotel just gets better and better.

We have stayed at Reids Madeira, Sandpiper Barbados, Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria Sorrento, and Castillo Hotel Son Vida, Majorca and in our opinion this hotel beats them all.

My husband and I were welcomed back very warmly, given a glass of Cava and taken to the room that we had requested.

Everything at this hotel, from the bathroom amenities to the food is of the best quality, and nothing is too much trouble. All of our requests were met by a wonderful team of professionals who are warm and friendly.

The food is fantastic. Breakfast : Everything you could wish for was available. Evening Meal: An event to look forward to every night, even the two BBQ nights, which we don't usually enjoy anywhere else. Pool Bar: Lunch at the Pool Bar has a daily special as well as a full menu which is cooked fresh in front of you.

The staff are all fanstastic and it is very hard to pick out anyone in particular as they all go the extra mile. However, the young lady who served us at our table (11) in the evening was exceptional, and Andrea on reception is wonderful - especially when your tour company transfer doesn't turn up!

We are looking forward to our 6th visit very soon.

My wife and I have just returned from a 7 night break at this excellent, compact hotel.

This is a great little hotel, ideal for a luxurious, restful break, with good food and very pleasant staff.

If it's all action and a lively bar you're looking for, this is unlikely to be the right hotel choice for you
Guests are in the vast majority of cases, very mature, and the overall atmosphere is of quiet relaxation.

Our bedrooms were of a good size, well furnished and the maid service excellent. Only "could do better" is the hot drink making facilities in the room - they are not of a similar standard the other facilities provided.

We like to enjoy a coffee or two in our room before going to breakfast. We ordered coffee every morning from room service. The coffee was very good indeed, but not always served in insulated containers which meant that it was often lukewarm by the time it arrived. I'm still not sure if we were charged or not for this service, as sometimes a bill was presented for signature and sometimes not. I must check the bill.

Lunch for those who weren't still eating breakfast at 11am, is served at the pool bar, is well presented and offers a comprehensive selection.
Dinner was a comfortable though formal affair - and diners made the effort to comply with the "no shorts or mobile phone" rules. The kitchen makes a genuine and mostly successful attempt at Michelin Star product and presentation. We were on the half board tariff (four courses every night with the option to order from the A la Carte menu at a price supplement), but personally would have liked the option on a couple of nights to dine less formally without having to leave the hotel. It would have suited us very well if the pool bar stayed open until say 2100 on 2/3 nights per week serving their usual simple lunchtime menu (which is very good), or a couple of evening "specials". If you enjoy the sun and the beach (which is about a 10 minute walk away), sometimes it would be nice to have an option to getting back and dressed for dinner, by having something simpler with a beer or two in a relaxed atmosphere.

On a minor (but nevertheless irritating) note, on the vast majority of occasions I found it impossible to get any salt out of the grinders on the tables of the terrace restaurant or pool bar and had to resort to taking the grinder apart and seasoning the food with giant lumps of salt crystals :).

A previous reviewer mentioned that there were sufficient sunbeds. This may well be true from a mathematical perspective, but during our stay, this hotel did appear to have attracted insomniacs who commandeer all of the best located beds at dawn or earlier using the international warning sign of a towel and paperback book to repel invaders. We saw beds being commandeered first thing and used either not at all, or for no more than an hour. It's very irritating to be stuck on beds under palm trees, in walkways and busy areas when the beds in the best positions are occupied only by a paperback book. I have stayed in hotels that simply do not permit the reservation of sunbeds and state that they will remove any unattended belongings for security purposes. This provided the hotel with some control over how the sunbathing areas are used. The rules were only ever implemented when people were acting unfairly and selfishly and overall, it worked much, much better.

All of the staff that we encountered were very pleasant indeed. My only suggestion for improvement to service would be that the staff looking after the pool and sunbathing area more actively presented the poolside drinks and snacks service. On the majority of occasions, I found myself putting on shoes and a shirt to go to the bar and order drinks to be served at the sunbeds. My wife and I would have spent much more money in the pool area if the drinks service at the sunbeds had been made more readily available. Often, empty drinks glasses were removed with such efficiency, that they glasses and the member of staff had "been and gone" before we had the chance to order another drink!

Evening entertainment was not really our "cup of tea" by way of either type or quality. After hearing "Lady In Red" four times, by as many performers accompanied by a variety of digital backing tracks, we didn't make a point of being in the bar for long for after dinner drinks. Given that there was a smattering of polite applause, I expect that some of the guests enjoyed it and it may just be us.

Overall, a very enjoyable stay - and we look forward to our next visit.

It is a great pleasure to read that you rated the hotel excellent, the staff pleasant and the culinary experience Michelin star like on most occasions and most of all, that you had a luxurious and restful break.

As we always strive to improve our services I appreciate your comments for small improvements.

As the majority of the guests enjoy dressing smart casual for dinner that is served in an elegant, yet relaxed setting, we are aware that others prefer to dine more casual. We will discuss the possibility to have the pool bar open on some evenings.

At this point we do provide espresso machines only in our junior suites and suites, however we do offer complimentary coffee at the pool in the mornings until 9.00 am.

We are looking into the issue of the salt mills and I am certain that we will find a solution despite the fact of the high humidity that we had.

In regards of the sunbeds we do have indeed plenty of sun beds available and ask our guest not to reserve them. However, some of the guests do it anyways.

The musical entertainment is always a challenge to meet everybody’s taste and we are frequently doing updates and changes of the entertainers.

We have just returned having spent 2 weeks at this fabulous hotel . Everything about it is faultless . We knew as soon as we had settled in the next day that it was going to be good because the manager could be seen in all locations. It was a pleasant surprise to see that the room was as good as the photographs .The beds were very comfy i tend to have back ache sleeping on most hotels beds but i had no problem at all. The gardens were beautifully kept. Sun loungers tables etc were cleaned every day and the pool guy cleaned around the pool area even steralising the steps into pool. We only book bed / breakfast because when we go away we like to sample different restaurants which there were many and very good. .Breakfast could not be faulted and the lady who cooked bacon eggs etc to order (cant remember her name) was really lovely and good at her job. ,We did have lunch at the poolside bar restaurant most days , the quality of the food was excellent, cooked freshly by 2 chefs worthy of working in top class restaurants anywhere. in fact all the staff were exceptional. What we liked about the area was the fact that you could walk out of the hotel and bars and restaurants were all within easy reach ,We took taxis a couple of times to Del Ingeles and it only cost 6 euro Not rip off like Costa Del Sol. !!!!!

Room Tip: We stayed in room with garden view and was very happy with it but would stay in any one of the room...
