Just returned from an excellent week at Ataitana Faro! It was a last minute booking but the price for the time of year (New Year) was excellent. On arrival the welcome was great and we were soon shown to our room. The room itself was basic but has all you need and was fairly spacious with two balcony's with the one coming off the upstairs bedroom having lovely views right down to Maspalomas.

All in all I would not hesitate to recommend these apartments I you are looking for a bargain stay in this area.

As indicated by others, these apartments are very basic, fairly shabby and have only limited equipment. But they are very cheap. My main grumble was the beds/bedding - cheap, worn out mattresses which rattled when you lay on them and brushed nylon sheets and pillow cases. The complex itself is quite pleasant, the free wifi at reception works well and there was a distant view of the ocean from the balcony.
You pays your money and takes your choice, I came here because everything was full. Next time I'll invest a few more euros for a better night's sleep.

Stayed for a long weekend mid October. Let's start by saying that the room rate here is fantastically low and for that you expect basic accommodation, if you have expectations otherwise you may be disappointed. However for your money you get loads of room (duplex apartment with good size living quarters and a huge balcony on both levels) which is clean and was everything we needed for a base for beach holiday in Maspalomas. The complex is in Sonnenland, a largely residential area of town - bars and restaurants are limited to those attached to the accommodation complexes and were uninspiring to say the least! You are quite a trek from the beach and the centre of Playa Del Ingles, but there is a thrice daily bus to the beach from right outside and as anybody who's holidayed in GC knows taxis are dirt cheap, so getting around really isn't an issue. A bonus of the distance from town is the peace and quiet, didn't hear a thing overnight so fantastic for a good nights rest! The apartment itself was very clean, those staying for longer might have concerns regarding the servicing of the apartments - for stays of 4 nights or under there's no cleaning or linen change at all so I'm guessing it's not that frequent on longer stays either - but we were quite happy with this, allowed for some lie ins without being disturbed! As previous reviews have stated the residents here are mainly long term stays or Spanish (I'm guessing from Las Palmas) - the number of the latter really only picks up at the weekend so there were occasions in the week where we appeared to have the place to ourselves and the pool was empty - perfect! Given the choice between a pool view and non-pool view I'd go for the latter (which is actually cheaper!) as it's a bit more private and gives a better view from the upper balcony right over Maspalomas and the sea in the distance. If you are planning on cooking in a lot you will really struggle - there's no kettle or toaster as advertised but this didn't bother us too much - we had a good size fridge and freezer which is really all we needed. The receptionists English seemed very limited - he was very friendly and helpful but reckon we may have struggled if we needed anything more than a simple check in - but hey, we were in Spain and hadn't bothered to learn any ourselves! In summary this is a great, basic complex which for us proved a perfect base for a bit of peace and quiet overnight, a fantastic balcony for enjoying a few pre-night out drinks with a view, no hassle, no frills. Don't expect to pay what Ataitana charges and enjoy luxury accommodation but go with the right expectations and I don't think you'll be disappointed.

We stayed here in september, there is some good points and some bad points to these appartments.

We stayed for 10 days and bedding, towels etc were not changed at all in this time

The kitchen had no kettle, microwave, toaster and the oven/ grill didn't work - not a big problem as we ate out most if the time

The cafe/bar didn't open once and on looking in it was completely empty so don't expect it to.

This is on quite a steep hill, so lots of steps, or slopes to get anywhere including back to the rooms, the walk to the closest bar or shop was often too much for my mum so we often got taxi down to the boulevard by the lighthouse to eat.

Most of the appartments were being lived in rather than for holidays, the one next to us was a woman with two (noisy) kids, they were not quiet when getting ready for school and then shouted if we sat on the balcony in the evening and made any noise as they had to be up for school/work in the morning.

The rooms were generally clean when we got there, tho the first night we were met with a giant cockroach, bit off putting!!

There was some good points, reception was helpfull tho their English was limited, pool area was clean and quiet except on the weekend when the residents were off work and took over, for 5 euro you could get to some lovely places

At the end of the day I think at £20 a night ish for 3 of us we got what we paid for - it was ok, we could relax and got a great tan :)

Stayed here over easter 2013 for 10 days.
Was in apartment 42 to start with, but the place seems popoular with locals from LAs palmas in the north, and they are not quiet!
So asked to be moved to the rear of the property and where it was alot quieter away from the pool, but did have a fantastic view of the dunes and surrounding area. Sun from sun rise to sunset on the balconies.
As others have described ,the apartments are duplex, sparsely furnished, but clean, in fact the second apartment I was moved to (20) was a bit nicer, altough it did not have a working toaster or kettle I just swoped them from previous apartment.
I rented a small scooter for the time I was there, the area (Sonneland) is a bit far from anything, although there are local supermarket and resturants nearby. But to really get out you would need some transport. The beach is about 2kms away.
The pool was clean although a salt water pool.
The staff were OK, and moved me without too much fuss.
Overall OK for the price, just don't expect too much, and you'll be pleased.

Room Tip: If you want quieter go for away from the pool.

I booked this apartment after doing a little searching on the web, and to be honest its not all it says it is on the tin! It advertises that the apartments contain a toaster and kettle which neither were available. It also says that there is a poolside bar which was closed for the two weeks we were there.

On the plus side the apartments were spotlessly clean when we arrived. We chose the no cleaning option, but please be aware that unlike other apartments we have stayed at this really does mean no services at all. We had to empty our own bins, the sheets were never changed for a fortnight nor the towels. you had to buy your own toilet rolls too.

The pool area was lovely, well maintained and clean and to be honest wasn't used by many people.

The reception staff were ok, but had limited launguage skills.

The apartments themselves were as I have said, very clean, but they were also very dated. The majority of the apartments appeared to have been sold off to private owners. This was an issue because the aprtment next to mine was owned by a spanish lady who insisted on playing her music deafening loud which did disturb the peace and quite on a daily basis.

The location is in Sonnenland which is a good distance out of the resort. good if you want peace and quiet but everywhere is a taxi ride away. It costs less than 5 euros into Playa or Maspalomas.

If you go out of the complex and turn left there is a well tocked Spar shop about 500 metres up a steep hill. Also by the Spar is the Vista Bonita Restaurant which is well worth a visit.

Also, the beds are really hard, the only time I didn't wake up with a bad back was when I slept on the sofa!

We been there in February 2012 and i think that the Ataitana Frao Apartments are compared to a lot of other accommodations good. So in total i would give 3 1/2 Points for this place.

The apartments are nice with a small livingroom / smaller kitchen and a nice terrace on the ground floor and a bedroom, toilette and a small balcony on the first floor. The furniture in our place was old but ok. But we are not so picky with stuff like this. But some people might say that this place is worn out and could use new furnitures.

But for us it was just a place to sleep and sometimes sunbathing on the balcony or the pool which was really nice but really cold aswell :-)

You have free wifi access there and they have a little store in the entrance. You can walk from there in 3-5 Minutes to the next supermarket and they have some parkingspaces as well in front of the entrance.

The staff in this place is very friendly and thy "cleaned" the apartments every second day and gave new towels.

Room Tip: It doesn't make such a difference if you have poolview or not. If you have poolview it meens you...
