Slightly disappointed at the rating given by holiday companies on some hotels this is one of them room clean and not a bad size, facilities of hotel as expected from brochure description but its the buffet style breakfast and dinner on the cool side that for me lets the rating down, place itself is within walking distance of good restaurants though as long as 20minutes is within your range, sometimes think the all inclusive of many hotels now is spoiling my holiday experience.

We spent a wonderfull two weeks here, the hotel was always spotlessly clean, the staff couldn't do enough to help & our room was more than big enough with a large balcony overlooking the pool area.

There was always a large selection of food & it was always being taken away & replaced with fresh, the drinks were very reasonably priced for a hotel like this.

The pool area was wondeful with plenty of room, although you couldn't always get a sunlounger, but this is to be expected.

The entertainment was slightly dated but it still made us chuckle (even if it wasn't supposed to) we had a few day trips out to various places & the whole area seemed very clean & welcoming with more than enough to keep us occupied, on the days we stayed around the pool/hotel it was a very calm & laid back feeling, again the staff were always working hard but still taking the time to make you feel like nothing was to much trouble for them.

The beach is a short stoll away, we often got taxi's back, after a hard day lounging on the beach we deserved it ;) & it only cost a few euros.

We are actually booking the same hotel for next year as we were so impressed and that's something we've never done, we don't usually go back to the same place/area twice.

Returned from holiday a fortnight ago. Lovely hotel. Very spacious. The pool area is very big. Plenty of sunbeds available although i did find if you want a bed directly poolside you needed to be one of those people that gets up early and puts a towel on the sunbed but otherwise always plenty of beds to choose from. Pools not to crowded with children. Think the pools are big enough so you can find a quiet spot but not overrun with children. Was expecting them to be going by previous reviews on here but children were not a problem at all. Hotel was pretty quiet. I wonder if its the time of year as my partner and I stayed at the Fuertventura Princess around the same time (end May/ Start June) last year and found this hotel very quiet also so maybe this is the time to go to avoid loads of children etc?
Found the hotel staff to be very friendly and the housekeeping staff very thorough although sometimes they didn't clean our room intill about 3pm which we found a bit odd but never the less! We loved the food. Lots of fresh fish and salads. Something different every night to choose from and very friendly and helpful restaurant staff. We paid £13.50 euro to hire the fridge for the week. It didn't particularly get that cold? Rooms lovely and spacious with big balcony overlooking pool area. Only complaint is our air con didn't seem to work that much? It wasn't too much of a problem as it wasn't stifling hot at night but can imagine peak summer you would want air con that works! Our friend we hlidayed with was in the next room and he said his room was always too cold so his air con worked fine!! We hired a car as it was a surfing holiday and my partner and friend went off around the island every day looking for waves. Lots of surf spots in Gran Canaria if anybody is particularly interested in surfing! Was good to have the car to go up to the mountains. We went to the highest point and was above the clouds. Got fab photo's so worth a mission! There is a supermarket in the Hotel Duna (?) behind the Princess Hotel. Go out of reception, take a left, then left again. About 5 mins walk. Or there is a shopping centre about 10 mins away (by car) which is a bit cheaper.
Overall a very enjoyable week away. No complaints at all about the hotel. Only downside was Thomson flight delayed for about 5 hours but that is all. Our second time staying at a Princess hotel and we would be back.

I have been going to the Maspalomas hotel for over ten years (probably 6 times). When i first went 10 years ago, you could not deny the 5 star platinum standard- the decor, the food selection, the pools, the location, the staff, the amenities are all top notch. These areas are still of a high standard today also. The only thing i would suggest is a small upgrade on the furnishings and decor of the rooms/communal areas as they are starting to look a bit dated.

That aside the selection of food at both breakfast and evening meals is superb.

The staff are very nice.

The pools/outside area are fabulous.

The location is great for the camel ride near by and the nature reserve is fantastic to have a look at. The 15min walk to the beach is worthwhile to visit the resort- not at all cheap cheap.

This is a wonderful hotel overall.

Room Tip: Ask to be on the top floor to avoid any sound disruption.

This was the best hotel I've every stayed in. The rooms are large and airy with lovely big balconies. The food everyday was different it could be cooked fresh to order and was faultless. Staff very friendly and polite. I would stay there happily every year or one of its sister hotels.

This is quite a nice hotel. The room was quite large and the bathroom very spacious. There was ample storage space in the room which was cleaned thoroughly daily. The beds were comfortable and there were the usual facilities such as tv etc. The balcony was very large but unfortunately large plants grew just below it and therefore the view was obstructed.
The public spaces were very attractive and kept clean. The dining room was pleasant and the food quite good, although just the typical fare for this standard and type of hotel. Staff everywhere in the hotel were friendly, pleasant and helpful. The evening entertainment was quite good and varied.
The massive criticism of this hotel relates to the fact that you got the feeling that they were trying to extract every euro from you that they could Whilst it is not unusual to have to hire the safety deposit box, we have never had to pay to hire the fridge to keep water/milk in. The gym equipment was charged per 10 minutes and the min-golf, although free to use, had a hire charge for the putter. Wifi in the lobby was also charged.

Room Tip: Higher floors have better views from the balcony especially if you are over an external door area as...

We chose this hotel as a quiet break away after very stressful times at home. We were not disappointed. The hotel is large, airy and very clean. the staff are all charming and efficient. Yes, it is a little way away from restaurants etc but there is a lot going on at the hotel to compensate. That said, we had two pleasant strolls down along the dried river bed to Melonarus beach which takes 20 minutes or so with plenty of benches to sit and palm trees to provide shade. There is a place where you can go on camel rides across the famous dunes. We had a paddle in the sea and ice cream sundaes and caught a taxi back to the hotel at a reasonable E3..We also caught a local bus (number 30) into Las Palmas which took an hour and was E6.80. The boat trip to Mogan was worth the money (I booked on Thomson's website before we went) Friday is market day with plenty of souvenirs to tempt you.
There was a handful of children staying with families from Scandinavia mostly but these were not a problem to our holiday enjoyment. There is a supermarket at the Dunas hotel at the rear of the Princess hotel but there is a small shop where papers and magazines etc can be bought in the hotel. The safe was E13.50 for the week. We did not use the 'fridge. We used one of three complimentary rooms on the last day as we had to vacate our room by noon and the coach to the airport was not until 6.50pm. We may consider booking a late checkout room next time.
The entertainment was fine. The food in the restaurant was of a good standard and the choices were excellent. Poolside cafes were also very good. There are more sunbeds than guests so there really is no need to put towels down. I moved around according to where the sun or shade was!

Room Tip: There are no sea views. A 3rd floor room takes you away from any noises from the entertainment but...
