My husband and I are seasoned travellers and we wanted a short break somewhere warm and away from the maddening crowds..We were very wary of this hotel after reading some of the negative reviews, however we were pleasantly surprised by the overall quality and service offered on all levels. On arrival and departure the service was superb and we could not fault it at all. The staff were courteous, friendly and willing to help in any way possible.
The food was excellent, imaginative and plentiful. We were always greeted with a warm welcome and an efficient service.
As all inclusive guests, it was a bonus to have free use of the wonderful spa facilities between 3-6pm.
The sunbeds were plentiful although towels were still reserving the prime ones.
We would definitely return to this hotel. The only downside for us was that we did not have the room we requested...that is a sea or pool view, we were allocated a room overlooking a road with a mini view of the sea!! This would be our only reservation about returning in the near future. Having said that it was Easter and the hotel was seemingly fully booked.
The location is beautiful and we would highly recommend.

Room Tip: Definitely request a sea view or at least a pool view...seemingly the higher the room the better the view!

We have enjoyed a relaxing week in this hotel. Overall the hotel had many good points, being clean, efficiently run and with some well-maintained gardens and superb architecture. The breakfast was excellent, but we would recommend eating out for supper, as the hotel is only a short walk from a selection of restaurants and the dining area had the atmosphere of a canteen, with rather a lot of commotion.
Some food for thought might be the 'manner' of the staff, particularly in the main restaurant and reception area. They were generally polite but on occasions a little disinterested and with the main nationalities being Spanish and German we sometimes had difficulty trying to communicate (being English). We had requested a late checkout from the room weeks in advance, only to be told on the day of departure that this was not available, though the hotel was not full.
The swimming pools were clean and interesting, being well placed in the grounds. However, only the infinity pool was heated, albeit a little chilly. In our visit last year the larger pool was heated and warm, but we were informed that this was due to a 'fault'!
In terms of value, the hotel was reasonably priced, and the poolside meals were good value.
It is best for families or older couples (but perhaps not elderly because of the large network of staircases throughout the hotel).

Room Tip: Room 723 was quiet with good views but not the closest to the poolside area (if you were travelling with children), as it is on the top floor.

H10 Playa Meloneras Palace is in the quiet resort of Meloneras, just a 15-20 minute walk from Maspalomas resort & dunes. Situated directly next to a golf course, the sea view rooms from the high floors are lovely. We were in room 723 overlooking the pool bar, golf course and nice sea view. The balcony is really private & rooms a good standard. The buffet restaurant was excellent quality and although we normally go out for evening meals, we ended up in the restaurant 5 nights out of 7! If you are half board & wish to swap your evening meal for lunch, you can - nice touch. Staff were friendly without being overly familiar, especially in the restaurant, always pleasant and helpful. Meloneras itself is feeling the effects of the recession with the local shopping centre struggling to keep some of its shops & restaurants open but there are still plenty of options for both bars and sea front restaurants. There is a chill out bar & club next to the beach but its not open all the time at the moment and wasn't particularly noisy when it was open at the weekend. Back to the hotel, there are lots of steps so if you have problems walking, you might want to ask for a room on floor 4 - ground floor, there are lifts though. Three different pools (one heated) and one indoor pool - although the indoor one is within the spa and hotel guest have to pay $3 per visit. There are always loads of sun loungers free - the stylish wicker sun beds get snapped up really quickly and people do reserve them so you'd need to bag them early! Overall, I'd recommend this hotel - its not a snobby 5* like the Lopesan nearby, but we felt totally at home & would definitely go back.

Room Tip: Pick a high floor for sea views

In in the first week of my hols at present and I can say I'm impressed. The reviews I read on here worried me about coming but I don't know what they were on about. The food is great, I can see loads of empty sun beds, the rooms are clean and well appointed and the staff very friendly. If you have booked you'll have a good time and of you haven't then book.

My husband and I have just returned from a week at this hotel. On the whole, we very much enjoyed our time there.

The hotel is lovely, very well kept, modern, nice grounds, plenty of areas to sit or lay and relax. It is in a quiet area - there are a few bars and restaurants nearby with the beach just in front. It is a 20 minute walk into Maspalomas although we didn't do this because of my husband's walking problems - torn tendon in foot. The hotel does offer a shuttle service into Maspalomas.

The buffet selection was great - most of the time enough variety to satisfy all tastes both at breakfast and dinner. In fact, people dining in the Gaudi Restaurant expressed their preference to come down to the buffet, even though they had to serve themselves. We particularly liked the freshly squeezed orange juice at breakfast and the champagne which we used to take to the outside terrace with some nibbles afterwards.
Really friendly and helpful staff - particularly the Maitre D's.

Our room was on the 6th floor - the 4th floor was on ground level in our part of the hotel. We had a major problem with the pigeons - we had a mating pair on our balcony which continually messed all over the floor, table and chairs so, in combination with their constant noise, it made it very uncomfortable to sit out there. Our room was also a long walk to the lift and restaurant and as my husband had just torn a tendon in his foot he was in extreme pain every time he walked to and from the lift. We asked to change our room 3 times, mainly because of the pigeons but also it would have been nice to not have to walk so far to the lift each time. However, even though the hotel was not full we were offered just 2 alternative rooms, both further away from the lift and both in a terrible position. The reception staff were not very helpful at all - perhaps they have heard it all before.

The room itself was fine, however, kept lovely and clean, spacious, large bathroom and although it was probably in need of refurbishment, we were quite satisfied with it.

The staff in the bars do not like giving out receipts for drink purchases for some reason - they give you a piece of paper to sign with your room number on and the items bought. If you ask for a proper receipt so you know how much you are paying, they rip the original up angrily and then print one off via the cash register. Why? Personally, I like to have an account of how much I have spent during my holiday so I can check it off with my final bill.

The entertainment was hit and miss - good when they brought outside acts in but rather lacking when there was the DJ who played videos which did not match the music - strange.

Overall - it was a great holiday and we would go back to this hotel but try and choose a room next time which was quieter (not near the children's area) and in a better location (and without the pigeons). Maybe they should bring a falcon in!

Dear guests,

First of all we would like to thank you for sharing your opinion in Trip Advisor. This is one of the best ways for us to improve our service and get your satisfaction.

We are very happy that you enjoyed the buffet restaurant, we will let all the staff who work there know.

We are also sorry about the pigeons, our cleaning ladies do their best in order to keep clean the whole hotel, but pigeons are a protected species and there is not much more to do against them.

We will let know reception department about your disappoinment with the room. However, we recommend you to make a request some time before your arrival, informing us about your husband´s walking problems in order to assign a room nearer to the lifts.

It was a pleasure for us to welcome you at the H10 Playa Meloneras Palace, and we hope to see you soon.

Kind regards,

H10 Playa Meloneras Palace Team
