“Great holiday!”
Reviewed 27 August 2013

Just back from Maspalomas and a lovely stay at the Ifa Faro. We paid for a sea view room and it was great- beautiful views of the sea and the palm trees from our good-sized balcony. The sun lounger reservation system is great- I don't know why all hotels don't do it! If you don't like your chairs, they seemed happy to move people, but we liked the spot we were given. We really enjoyed all of the modern restaurants on our doorstep- especially SushiMex for dinners and Pinguino Soul for ice creams. The day we checked out we were allowed to still use our sun loungers and then had access to a bedroom on the ground floor for showering and changing before heading to the airport- a great service for guests! We also loved watching the aqua gym sessions after lunch- the girl who leads them is so enthusiastic!

The only small improvement I would suggest is about the tv- I know I didn't go on holiday to watch telly, but when we're in the room getting ready for dinner or after an evening in the bar, it is nice to have something on in the background. The only English language channels are news channels, while there was much more variety for Spanish and German speaking guests. At least 1 non-news channel in English might be nice.

Would 100% recommend this hotel to a friend.

We're just back from spending 9 days here. The hotel is in a perfect location - right on the beach with plenty of excellent restaurants and shops nearby. It is kept very clean and the staff are all very polite and attentive. The pool is a good size with plenty of sun loungers (which are assigned to you for your stay) and parasols. I'd highly recommend staying here!

My husband and I stayed at the Ifa Faro during the first two weeks in July. What a brilliant hotel in a fantastic location right on the beach and next to a lovely promenade with a host of really good restaurants and some lovely shops. We lloved the fact that sun loungers are allocated for the duration of your stay - why don't other hotels do this? Staff in this hotel are really friendly and efficient and the rooms are spacious and modern. The balconies are furnished with table, chairs and sunloungers and most rooms have sea views. Food in the hotel is very good - excellent choice at breakfast. The pool bar offers a good lunch/snack menu and there is a lovely little coffee shop on site. We stayed on a bed-and-breakfast basis and dined in the evenings in the lovely restaurants nearby. Not a hotel for families as there are little to no facilities for children but highly recommended for couples.

We love this hotel, really near to the beach. Peaceful, lovely, and good price for one week. The pool is good, but we prefer the beach, is very big and lovely. If you come here, you can go to the El Inglés beach walking for the sand.

This hotel has by far one of the best locations in Maspalomas. My husband and I have just had an amazing week staying at the Faro and we will definitely be going back. The service was fantastic from start to finish, we arrived late in the evening and was immediately told that we had been upgraded to a direct sea facing room (we had already paid to have a side room with sea view), we were then ushered down to the restaurant, which was closed for the evening, to be greeted by a friendly waiter that was waiting for us and a table set. We were then presented with a lovely fresh salad each. Sun loungers are allocated to you for the duration of your stay and if for any reason you don't like them - they are easily changed. Guests are predominantly European and only a couple of other English couples. Lovely touch by having champagne available at breakfast too! The food selection and quality was brilliant!

Room Tip: Definitely worth upgrading to sea view room!

Just returned from probably our 15th stay at the IFA Faro. The staff are super from the Director to the Cleaners, at reception, in the restaurant, in fact everywhere. Spotless.
Super food, reasonable prices, fantastic location - it may not suit you but it is ideal for us.
Guests mainly German but it's up to English speakers how you play it - if you want to have great time, get involved - strike up conversations - it's a laugh.
Holidaymakers at the upper end of the age scale and hotel not really suitable for small children.
We will keep returning but YOU may not like it - we love it.
Look at the website before you book.

Room Tip: Go for a side sea view

Location: this hotel undoubtedly has the best location!! Right by the lighthouse, right on the sea front and beach couldn't ask for much more!!

Room: the room was great, bed was comfy bathroom was quite large and modern. There's a minibar with enough room to squeeze couple of your own things in! Didn't pay for a sea view but could see the sea and the dunes. The balcony has two comfy loungers along with tables and chairs

Breakfast: can't understand some of the complaints on here about food! The food was of an excellent standard and plentiful. There were plenty of cereals, selection of hot food, Lipton teas including English Breakfast and an abundance of fruit (and loads of cakes)

Evening meal: always two soups to choose from, great selection of breads, wide selection of salad and cheeses, fresh fish being cooked various vegetable dishes and usually some meat being cooked (being a fish eating veggie, plenty to choose from) great selection of cakes and ice cream as well as fruit! I agree that serving area may not be the largest but the team replenish items constantly and food is always hot!

Pool: lounger reservation is a fantastic idea, no need to rush down in the morning!! Pool is lovely, plenty of umbrellas! Pool bar is nice and good prices too (crepe with strawberries and ice cream €2.80! :-)

FKK: discreetly located on the top floor so doesn't cause offence to others! Could do being a bit bigger with a few more beds! As the reservation system isn't in place here some guests do reserve beds with towels and disappear for hours on end! Nice view!!

Wifi: do not understand why people have complained about this!? There is free wifi in the bar and reception. In the rooms there is 30min trial of wifi which was very good but you do have to pay is you want it in your room €6 per day or €24 per week (cheaper than some phone operators) did pay one day and it was good enough to watch a HD film from flixster.

Staff: were all friendly and helpful! :-)

Departure: check out is 12 noon, as I wasn't being picked up till 6pm was able to still use the lounger and also book a courtesy room to freshen up before leaving as well as storing my case safely.

Overall: if you are looking for a relaxing and chilled out hotel, then this perfect!! If you are looking for somewhere for kids which only serves chicken, chips and gravy then this is not for you!

Would definitely stay here again! And would recommend it to my friends and family that want to relax!! :-D

Room Tip: East rooms get a sea view and the dunes as well as sunrise but lose the sun by midday
