“Excellent holiday.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 November 2013

Excellent stay, Nov 2013, despite the nit picking reviews. If you want perfection go to the Riu chains for £2000 per week. Wasn't sure what to expect after the prophets of doom but very pleasantly surprised. I did book a "superior room" for not much more and found it spacious, clean and NO cockroaches ! These rooms appeared slightly larger than the average with adequate cooking facilities and a delightful patio area set back just far enough from the pool to be un disturbed by activities therein. Reception staff good. The pool bar serves snack food, like sandwiches, burgers and chips etc. all good. 5 litre bottles of water over the counter, 1.50 euro to save carrying from supermarket !! On an evening there is a buffet next to the pool bar. 10 euro, eat all you want. Surprisingly good. Beautiful fresh salad selection. Then select your own raw meat , chicken, turkey, beef and the chef cooks it while you wait. Nearest supermarket, Faro 2 centre, 15 min walk. The only down side, if you like beaches, is it's at least 2km (1.5 miles in old money) walk. Ok for couples wanting exercise but not necessarily good for young tired children. Nudist beach to the left upon arrival. don't go that way (signed) if you are offended by dangling willies, plenty on display. Playa del Ingles next door if you like a lively place full of gay people. Meloneras next door very nice and more to see than in Maspalomas. Visit Puerto Mogan up the coast, (4.9 euro on bus) stunningly beautiful little port full of yachts. Taxis not expensive for local trips. Interesting market Wed and Sat in Maspalomas lots to see esp if you want a watch !! Excellent value and booked through On the Beach. Most days towards 30 deg in the day and rarely went below 19 deg at night in November !! Well pleased overall.

Room Tip: Pay the little extra (no more than £20) for a "Superior Room" More spacious than the avera...

We were in Maspalomas Lago Bungalows for a week, we booked with Booking.com.
The location is between the beaches at Playa del ingles and Maspalomas. There is a supermarket about 5 minutes away, very convenient (in Faro 2 shopping center).
We recommend that you have a rental car, although taxis are not expensive.
On checking in at reception they took payment promptly (as in all Canary Islands). The first impression on arrival was good; the bungalow was basic and clean, equipped with all the amenities and large enough. The bedroom had two comfortable single beds.
There are 3 lovely pools and the pools and the large area around the pools are very well kept and clean.
Dinner is a buffet costing Euros 10 per person. The bar and restaurant staff are as excellent as the rest of the staff.
Unfortunately there were cockroaches in the bungalows. Cockroaches come out at night. They do use something against cockroaches but they may need to do something more radical.
If you are looking for reasonably priced accommodation (just somewhere to sleep at night and have a central base) then this is excellent!!

We spent 1 week in Maspalomas Lago Bungalows from 17 to 24 March 2013. We are a couple with 10 months old baby. This hotel is perfect for families, very quiet (don'^t go there if you want to party...), the staff is helpful, we asked for a baby bed which they provided for free.
Location : about 30 minutes on foot from Playa del Ingles much more if you want to go to Maspalomas beach, we did it but didn't realize it was so far...but taxis are very cheap!

The hotel itself has 2 pools, (1 heated that we used most) and a small one for kids.
Beds and umbrellas always available, excepted on the last 2 days, a lot of Spanish people arrived and it was more crowded.

We were on half board so went to the restaurant for breakfast (big choice! yummy yummy) and dinner. (fresh meat that is cooked in front of you)..this was strange, we were often 3 or 4 tables occupied and that is it so sometimes we felt alone, also they close the buffet very early : 20:00 which you have to take into account otherwise you might end up ordering frozen pizzas if you want to eat after 20:00....

The pool bar is nice and offers cheap stuff to eat at lunch time (around 5 EUR for hamburgers).
They also have good fresh smoothies:-) and my husband loved their espresso.

Bungalow : nice, clean (cleaner doesn't come every day though), small kitchen with big fridge and you can cook (we juste used it to boil water for our baby).
The only big problem is the presence of cockroaches :-( we've seen them 3 times at night in bathroom.
There is a nice terrace as well, depending on where you are located you'll have either sun in morning or afternoon/evening.

There is a supermarket about 5 minutes away, very convenient (in Faro 2 shopping center).

Temperatures were great, around 24-27 degrees during the day, around 20 in the evening and very SUNNY.

Overall we recommend this hotel and would return again.

Room Tip: Bungalows behind the pooll are quieter.

Went here for holiday last week of Feb 13 for a cheap relaxing getaway and was not disappointed. Resort is a little difficult to find if making your own way as brochure is misleading as not right on beach but head for camp de international and the faro2 shopping centre and your on right track. Google maps find it no problem.
Site itself is clean and tidy both in and out with plenty of parking. Bungalows are exceptionally clean and very spacious. Cleaners come in every day to empty bins and linen once a week. Equipment in rooms are basic and not for cooking meals as no oven, microwave etc just a 2 ring hot plate and fridge freezer. You can get kettle, toaster and coffee maker from reception for €10 but this a deposit which you get back on return. Same as safe in room which is €15.
Beds very comfortable which is a nice change. No A/C but not needed in Feb. No sign of cockroaches as disappointing seeing others complaining about them.
Staff very helpful at all hours with 24 hr reception. Pool area clean and spacious and bar the same. You can get 5litre water from bar for €1.50 which a little more than supermarket but saves carrying it.
Shopping centre 5-10 main walk using cut through although lots shut due to out of season. Couple of nice restaurants and decent supermarket selling cigarettes and drinks and cheapest I could find. L&B €20 for 200.
Reception can organise trips for you and would recommend music hall tavern. Fantastic night suitable for all ages. Inuendos but subtle and fine for kids. Never laughed so much and food great. €34 inc transfers, 3 course meal and drinks during meal (beer wines and water).
Overall fantastic week and very happy with resort. Highly recommended especially for low price

Room Tip: If you have kids ask for one by pool as some back onto pool. If you want quiet ask for outside one.

We arrived for a one-week break. On checking in at reception they took payment promptly, photocopied the passports (standard stuff) and we headed to the room. On first impression I thought all was ok - the bungalows are basic but clean (VERY friendly cleaning ladies). Beds were confortable and we slept well enough (pillows were stained on the inside). Rooms were basic but adequate. Had to hire a kettle from reception - the 10 Euro fee was refundable - as long as you kept the receipt!
What I did not like is the fact I was killing 4-6 cockroaches every night. I'm not sure if this is a Maspalomas-wide/Canary island problem (I wonder what it'd be like in July/August with the heat but we were there in 'chilly' March!). When I informed reception of the problem they gave me a spray can of insecticide and said someone would come round to check the room, no one came. We saved our laundry in the wardrobe, rather than leave it on the floor. When picking up the clothes for washing there were cockroaches running around everywhere (horrible!), could see them regularly also in the bath, the kitchen sink, behind the fridge, under the beds, under the setee in the livingroom and on top of the kitchenwork top. I am not squeemish but wouldn't go back personally. At 50 Euros a nigth for self-catering i'm sure we could have found a lot better elsewhere.
Finally, if they invested say 300 Euros they could have quite a reasonable gym with free weights etc. They have 4 treadmills and nothing else...........................

Just back from a week at maspalomas lago. Found the bungalows very dated internally but quite attractive externally and pool area very pleasant. We didn't eat at restaurant but pool snack bar food good and not too expensive. The location is between the beaches at Playa del ingles and Maspalomas. About 30 min walk either way but bus stop right outside so not too bad and taxi reasonable to get back if too far to walk. It was very windy when we were there so the sands were off limits at times but nice to walk the length of the beach which is what people tend to do, a very odd sight! Nudists crop up from time to time along the route which makes it interesting! There is no English tourist info at the property, mostly Scandanavian but receptionists very helpful. very basic rooms but ask at reception for extras like kettle, toaster as they do hire them out if required, otherwise 2 rings only for cooking (no microwave). No air con so may be uncomforatble in hot months. weather pleasant (when not blowing a gale, i think we were just unlucky with the weather) 24 degrees and about 18/19 at night in March which is great for a bit of early sun.
The area around is lacking in prettiness as not very picturesque and the eating places are mainly in shopping area which are looking a bit rough and suffering from the economic problems. Not what you want really on holiday. We were in an outside bungalow which had quite a bit of road noise though some areas very quiet. There is a closed water park opposite the property, very ugly and a fun fair and bowling alley which are ok and the kids will probably enjoy them and also a sports bar nearby which was quiet mostly but probably more lively in summer. There are some nicer areas a bit further afield eg Mogan Port which is about a 40 min bus ride away and Porto Rico good for day trip about 30 min away by bus. We wouldn't go to this location again to be honest though the sand dunes are interesting to see. the looky looky men are a nuisance if you just want a quiet break and there are a lot of touts wanting you to go on trips/time share opportunities!! I found the island very odd with too much concrete used in the 80's and 90's probably which is now falling into disrepair and looks extremely dated and quite ugly. The "shopping centres" have all the restaurants and attractions but the one nearest the bungalows is almost empty and very dilapidated, such a shame for the existing traders who are doing their best to keep going. Hope it's sunny when you go otherwise not much to do.

Room Tip: Ask for a room near pool if you have children and avoid rooms on road side if poss as quite noisy fo...

Book low cost holiday for 26 February for a week and didn't expect too much but were very pleasantly surprised. Had a problem finding the place as no instructions with booking paperwork but had a good ride around. Asked a non english speaking (or very little) policeman for directions who insisted in calling roundabouts squares which gave us a chuckle all week. Once in the right area we used our satnav on the phone and soon found it.
Nice location with clean bungalows and good maid service calling daily to empty bins and change of towels and bedding mid week. Cleaning very good. Nice site with lovely pool area. Bar food and Restaurant reasonable with evening meal €10 each for three courses. Pick your own meat and chef cooks for you.
No oven (only two hotplates) or microwave in unit and you have to ask reception for toaster and kettle for a €10 deposit each item but refunded when leaving. No A/c but didn't need it in Feb. Did check to see detailed fire instructions on inside of door and smoke alarm in kitchen area but unit is open plan.
Music Hall Tavern a must visit one evening usually Wednesdays. Suitable for all the family, very clean and funny. Reception arranges with coach transfer.
All in all a very nice week with comfortable beds and nice patio for breakfasts.

Room Tip: Pool side rooms look good but we had an outside unit which was lovely and quiet.
