“Mega value for money!”
Reviewed 17 June 2010

My partner and I have returned from the Turbo Club yesterday evening (16th June) wherre we stayed for 1 week. We paid £638 for both us all inclusive through the teletext website. We weren't expecting much for this price, simply wanted a little break and some sunshine. When we arrived we were quickly ushered downstairs to grab some lunch as it was finishing at 2.30 and the time was roughly 2pm then. I thought this was a nice touch as the receptionist didn't need to ensure we had our lunch. We left our bags etc at reception and then collected them once we had eaten. Our room was number 235 which is ideally located just round from reception and with a balcony overlooking the pool. The grounds round about the hotel are nice enough and the buildings themselves look very nice. Our room was lovely, very clean. One bedroom with ample cupboard space for 2 people and lots of coathangers. Little kitchenette area with good working fridge, glasses, mugs etc. Couch, pay-as-you-go tv and balcony furniture. Good size shower cabinet in the bathroom with good shower, however, the hot water doesn't last too long! Everything you'd want really for the price we paid. Very clean as well. Only thing missing was air-conditioning which we could've done with. We simply left the windows open when in bed though and this cooled us off (though I appreciate not everyone would be keen to do this). The food in the restaurant was ok. Toast, selection of cereals, bread and meats, fresh fruit is pretty much it for breakfast. Ocassionally boiled/scrambled eggs. The lunch and dinner over the week consisted of chips, fish in various forms, beef in various forms, soup, lots of salad stuff, and a few of what seemed like "chefs specials" which I wasn't brave enough to try! My partner did however and she had no complaints on the food really. As most reviews say it wasn't the greatest selection but it is a 2* hotel so surely no one expects Michelin stars? The main issue for me with the hotel was the location. There is nothing within walking distance from the complex apart from Holiday World which is basically a big bowling alley and arcade centre with a pub "Moonlights" on the side of it. The issue with this though is its on the other side of the motorway from the hotel side and involves walking through a pretty scary dark grafitti covered underpass to access it! I didn't fancy walking through it at night so didn't venture over there. Playa del Ingles is only €4 away in a taxi and there is a rank on the roundabout outside the hotel. Also there are a number of bars and shops etc at the beach at Meloneras which the hotel runs 3 complimentary buses to and from each day. The entertainment was ok and there a number of things to get involved in during the day, billiards, darts, waterpolo etc if sunbathing all day isn't your thing. The staff at the hotel were generally nice and friendly. I would go back to this hotel if I was paying the same price again but its maybe not worth much more than this - but only due to the location. Though if all you want is a quite time in the complex taking advantage of your all inclusive to the max then this is the place for you.

Stayed here for one week with my husband and his 12 year old son as we just decided to book a last minute cheap holiday in the sun. You get what you pay for and although it was not an expensive holiday, I felt it was not the bargain I thought it would be. As other reviews have said the food choice is very limited, I did get sick of the sight of chips by the end of the week. When we arrived the place was packed out with Spanish and the bar staff just ignored us and served them first even though we were at the bar before them. On one occasion us Brits were made to queue up and were treated like second class citizens. Everyone was only allowed 2 drinks at a time which was not a problem for us but did cause longer queues for bigger groups. We could not get a sunbed as there was not enough to go round and they were packed together like sardines. People were putting their towels on the sunbeds very early in the morning and I even saw some putting them on the night before. This now seems to be the practice with all nationalities not JUST the Germans. It is something that should be clamped down on by the management. The Jacuzzi was full of young children even though the sign said "No unaccompanied Children" You could not move in the main pool for children, teenagers and several large inflatables. There was another pool which was quieter but if looked dirty and very unappealing. The rooms were unbearably hot and sleep was impossible - I have never stayed anywhere with pillows as lumpy. We hired a fan but it was not much use. The entertainer was excellent with the kids but the mini disco got boring after the first night as it was the same songs every single night. The rest of the entertainment was average - there was a fashion show one night with the offer that you could buy the clothes afterwards - if you were size 8 of course (I wish) These apartments are in a residential area and a fair way from the coast so you need to catch the shuttle bus into Maspalomas or face a long walk. To sum up I would advise anyone to pay a bit more and go somwhere else. The only good thing about Turbo on this occasion was there seemed to be loads of children so the 12 year old made lots of friends and we hardly saw him for a week.

We travelled as a family of 4 which included 2 young children (2 & 8).

Our holiday was cancelled at the end of April due to the ash cloud, and we were forced to reschedule for mid May.

Despite most of the reviews being fairly positive, we were a little apprehensive having never stayed in a 2* hotel before. The apprehension soon disappeared upon arrival. We were greeted at reception and very promptly checked in. Our room (118) was perfect. The balcony doors opened more or less on to the main pool area, which was spotlessly clean.

We headed straight for lunch, which on first impression looked great. My only gripe was it wasn't very hot. This was about the only day we encountered this problem. For the remainder of our holiday the food was of a good standard. Food was reused from lunch, but if you think this doesn't happen anywhere else, even in 4* hotels then you're mad!

The drink selection on the All Inclusive was absolutely fine.

We only stayed around the main pool area, which was really nice, especially for the kids. The kiddies pool even had a jacuzzi facility, which was quite fun.

Rooms cleaned 3 times a week, towels changed 3 times a week, however if you needed extra towels this wasn't a problem, just ask at reception.

Daily entertainment was ok, nothing special but for adults things like darts, rifle shooting, water polo, billiards etc and for kids, cartoons on tv, drawing etc. At night there was always a show, again it wasn't perfect but we expected there to be nothing at all, so it was an added bonus. The kids mini disco was fun, and both our children really enjoyed it. Some of the prizes were brilliant (family day passes to Aqualand - £60 worth there alone)

In and around he hotel was very quiet, there is an on site shop between rooms 119 & 120 which was reasonably priced.

Holiday World is a short walk away, this is an amusement / mini theme park attraction which was good value, and kept the kiddies happy when we had a break from the hotel. There is also a full size bowling alley within this complex as well as a few restaurants, and pubs.

The free bus to the beach was always on time, and if you've never been to see the sand dunes at Maspalomas beach, we would highly recommend you do this at least once during your stay. Please be aware of being approached by a rep from 'Anfi' trying to get you to test drive a hotel of theirs in Arguineguín. This is a scam to try and sell you membership in their company, luckily we didn't fall for it, but we witnessed several people falling for it.

Discounted attraction tickets available from reception. Internet also available in reception.

All in all, we had a really lovely break, in a very nice hotel. We have stayed at other all inclusive hotels which have been 3* or 4* and have been equally on par with the Turbo Club.

If you're used to luxury, and go to this hotel expecting luxury but paying a small fraction of a luxury price then this hotel will not be for you. If you're fairly open minded, just looking for a comfortable break as a couple or with a family, and looking for decent value, I promise you that the Turbo Club will no disappoint.

You know what, we couldn't fault this place! Four of us went, aged 23-42, so a varied taste & we all loved it here at Turbo Club. None of us can understand how people say there is nothing food wise for kids.. what on earth do you feed them on?? Every day the food was super, lots of meat dishes, different varities of potatoes, roasties, mash, boiled, saute as well as chips. Choice of vegetables & loads of salads. Among the meat, pork, beef, chicken was also fish dishes & things like rabbit & octopus too! We always liked lots on offer every day. For dessert, there is fruit, ice creams, cakes, jelly, caramels etc.. plenty to choose. Drinks were great, we found the German combo of beer & coke a bit odd but there are plenty of spirits & soft drinks to keep you happy.
Rooms are spacious & well equipped, with a kitchen. Clean & modern & ours was a stones throw from the main pool & bar. Excellent!
This is a fun down to earth place, where everyone was friendly around the bar. Ok, the entertainment was hilarious at times but going on holiday is all about fun.The onsite shop is so handy as is the beach bus. The centre of Playa del Ingles or the swish Faro, are only 4 mins & 4 euros taxi ride away. All in all, as our first all inclusive holiday, a top choice. I would definitely go again!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Turbo Club, the rooms were cleaned 3 times a week. Staff very helpful and friendly. The Meals were good plenty to choose from. The only thing I would say is the entertainment in not upto much .
