“Beautiful Oasis!”
Reviewed 16 April 2014 via mobile

Hotel is in a fab location right on the beach which leads to a pristine promenade of shops.

Fabulous hotel with lovely friendly staff and beautiful grounds. Could take a walk about the gardens and not bump into anyone.

Rooms cleaned thoroughly every day and public areas constantly being cleaned.

Loved our stay at the Oasis and would definitely return!

Date of stay: 31/3 - 14/4/14. One of the best features of this hotel has to be the beautiful acres of grassed areas and palm trees Add to that the fact that the rear of the hotel offers you direct access to the beach and promenade means you couldn't be better placed. Our room 245 was in a good position, offering slight sea views. Although the room was somewhat compact it had more than average storage facilities, a reasonable size private balcony and the bathroom was also a good size.
When we booked the holiday with Thomson Al a Carte it was listed as five star, it has since been downgraded to 4 star which I feel is a great pity. Yes, the building might be a little old and dated but with all the other hotels under RIU ownership in the immediate vicinity, this one could easily have retained it's 5 star status and become adults only. With so many hotels offering multi pools and kids entertainment, this hotel offers little for youngsters and yet there were lots of families holidaying here.

Food was generally very good with an excellent choice and the main dining room was a pleasant place to eat, with most tables having views of the gardens. My only gripe was that on several occasions hygiene could have been better regarding cleanliness of cutlery and plates, this was much more of a problem in the lower restaurant used for lunch and late breakfasts. I have to admit it's the worst I've come across and we've visited many RIU hotels. I did make a complaint at reception, believing it to be an important issue which needed pointing out.

Entertainment in the evenings was very good and we attended most of the shows. Lord of the Dance tribute was particularly excellent.

This was out second visit to the island and it will certainly be our last. With most of the hotels and apartments being concentrated around Playa del Ingles, Maspalomas and Meloneras, if it's peace and quiet you're looking for, forget it. The beaches are constantly crowded and driving between these resorts is a confusing labyrinth of duel carriageways and roundabouts. The resorts have evolved with little thought to planning. On the plus side, drive away from the coast and you will see some amazing scenery of pine forests, mountains and quaint little villages far removed from the resorts hustle and bustle. Be warned though if you suffer from vertigo, the roads are quite scary.

Recommended trips by bus:
Puerto Mogan (well worth seeing)
Las Palmas (visit Vegueta, the old quarter)
Peurto Rico and Amadores

Room Tip: The ground floor rooms are very dark and the be avoided

This well known hotel was designated to be torn down and thoroughly renovated.due to issues from the government in regard of monument protection they had to postpone this project
And came up with a very good solution for the time beeing :
They converted the beautifull high standard place into a ALL INCLUSIVE HOTEL
and now you still have the advantages of the former five star grand hotel for the reduced costs of a four star inclusive place.
Very good service, food , pool, tennis courts, childrens club , activities ........
Very much to be recommended

We visited this hotel 2 years ago before it became all-inclusive and had a wonderful time then due to its excellent location, friendly staff, good service and food. Having read some of the reviews since the change we were a little apprehensive as to whether the standards had slipped and we would be disappointed. No worries! It's every bit as good as it was and service is even better. The rooms are best described as traditional but immaculately clean-it's having a re-decoration this summer . First surprise was upon arrival when we were upgraded from a room overlooking the car park which we had 2 years ago to a sea view(room 317) and all staff were so cheerful and obliging. We were originally allocated 8.30 for dinner but we prefer 6.30 so we asked to change and after two nights our sitting was changed, as a result of which were sat next to a delightful German couple with whom struck up a lovely friendship.
To all staff and management well done-a holiday to remember. We'll be back. P.S.the weather was perfect too.

Room Tip: At least 3 floors high if you want a view and overlooking sea and gardens.

The riu palace oasis may be one of the oldest established hotels in Maspalomas but still offers a grand hotel with exceptional personal service to every single guest. You can not beat this 24 hour all inclusive hotel for its beautiful sub tropical grounds and location which sits right on Maspalomas beach, possibly the best beach in gran canaria plus the beach promenade with amazing walks full of shops and bars and restaurant's right on your doorstep. The hotel offers excellent food with premium quality drinks.we must mention the fantastic friendly staff throughout the riu palace oasis from arrival we were greeted by Marino with a glass of champagne and then escorted to our beautiful room on the top floor with garden and a amazing sea view. Through the week we kept on receiving the most friendly greetings and service from all the riu staff through out the hotel restaurants through to the reception, show area and even pool and garden areas and your drinks were rarely empty before the waiters offered another. As mentioned in other reviews they say the hotel is out dated but we found it grand, comfortable and exceptionally maintained and very clean. Everything in the room worked and was lovely and our room attendant toni who has worked at this hotel for many years like her husband and many off the riu palace staff members, kept our room amazingly clean and fresh always with a fantastic smile and greeting. So we would like to thank the whole team at the riu palace oasis from start to finish for an amazing stay. Thank you.

Nice enough and staff couldn't be more helpful but the hotel is desperately in need of a good overhaul, especially the pool which looked scruffy and I think I caught a tummy bug from swimming in it. The lounge area, where the entertainment took placed, was very smelly and dark, and not nice at all. I would not return unless it was completely refurbished throughout. It is a shame as we had a good holiday and the weather was excellent, and the food was ok too.

Room Tip: We booked a suite and the room had a view of the sea which was a nice thing to have. The suite gave...
