We spent a week at this hotel after my husband returned from deployment. And I can't say enough good things about it! Friendly front desk staff greeted us with a glass of champagne and offered to take us on a tour of the property. We originally booked a medium-class room and then upgraded to a suite. There are so many little nooks and crannies to this hotel and the property that we really felt like we were all alone most of the time. The pools are incredible and so many of them that you never have to feel crowded. Take the time to watch the sunset from the infinity pool at the top of the property and look out over the ocean. Wow. The staff here was superb for the entire stay. They helped us book excursions on the island and make reservations for some amazing restaurants off the resort. Not that we needed to leave, though, because the food here was impeccable.

This was a trip I will never forget. Thank you!

Dear Madam,

First of all I would like to thank you for your review! It is great to read about your romantic stay with us.

We agree, the hotel has so many places where one can get “lost”, that it almost seems you are alone. Ant the view from the Sunset pool is astonishing.

We look forward to your next visit to the island,

Just back from a week at this hotel ... absolutely excellent - very modern & contemporary & different, excellent food & service, staff friendly, Spa is a must visit!!! & the Sunset pool & bar + Sangria!!!- try to upgrade to a Premier room ... so much better!

Have just 2 criticisms - No restaurant facilites from 5 - 7 pm., which is awkward with young children to feed (we had a 2 yr old with us) so had to use Room service ( which when paid for half board was not good!) & not able to use the mini bar fridge in room for own use - again awkward with young children - bottles etc !! But apart from this, overall an excellent Hotel & island, would definitely go again.

Room Tip: FLOOR 1 - NEAR TO RECEPTION & RESTAURANTS - 114 - 119 - overlook front of Hotel - try upgrade...

We just came back from a 10 days vacation from this great resort .It’s a wonderful place for families as well as for couples. Even when the hotel is full you don’t feel it due to the fact that around 6 pools incl. 1 kids pool are there for your pleasure.
About food: fantastic breakfast and evening buffet…congratulation to the chef..:) Wide variety of products combined with a great presentation. For breakfast they have a “vitamin bomb” juice station with all kind of fresh squeezed juices e.g. orange, apple, carrot, celery, etc…
By the door is “Adam” – he is always friendly and has always a big smile..:)

About rooms: as far as I know all rooms facing the “amazing golf course”. If you like to play golf then THIS is the place to play..that’s all I can say about this ITS GREAT.
Staff: very friendly and accommodating- a few staff had difficulties to understand English or German. However they make it up with their smile and their will to please guests…

SPA-I went into the spa but I didn’t had any treatments…It looked clean and well maintenance
What are the minuses in that hotel?
First of all-it’s not on the beach…which didn’t boarder us but could be for beach lovers. But even for this they have a solution. Every hour there is a free shuttle between hotel and beach
Secondly-the food on the 7th floor right next to big pool could be tastier and better presented
Thirdly-they have a full automatic mini bar, which is good and easy to use, but if you have a child who drink form a bottle then you have nowhere to store the left over

Overall- great place, great people, great atmosphere

We have just returned from the Sheraton Salobre Golf Resort and Spa in Gran Canaria after a wonderfully relaxing week. We were thoroughly impressed; the resort is stunning - set in a valley overlooked by the beautiful volcanic mountains and spread out across acres of land including an 18 hole golf course and numerous private hire villas, the hotel sits in the centre and is a masterpiece in design. We had a Premier room on the front of the hotel with the most enormous bed I have ever seen and a large, walk in wet-room as well as full bathtub and double basins in the bathroom. There is tremendous attention to detail here, the whole property is designed to make you feel as though you're on a private vacation even though you're staying in an enormous hotel. Rooms are clustered into separate accommodation blocks built up the hillside and connected by alleyways and stairwells (all outside but sheltered by roofing), making it a great labyrinth to explore for kids. There are swimming pools everywhere but again, these are set in central areas and set back on the roofs so that small clusters of people are gathered around each rather than hundreds crammed around one pool. Public areas, lounges and bars have a relaxed, Moroccan feel to them with sunken sofa beds and lanterns, beautiful in the evenings and all with options to sit in or outside with a cocktail, cigar or game of cards. There is a full gym and a fabulous spa with an infinity pool looking out onto the mountains, amazing! The restaurants serve food to a very high standard for the island and there are several to choose from. We had a half board arrangement and were pleased to learn that we could choose between "all you can eat" in the buffet restaurant or a 34 EURO per person allowance in either of the A la Carte restaurants (one is fine dining, the other tapas). These restaurants are carved out of the hillside with stunning romantic views and although you have to reserve a table in advance are well worth the visit. The only drawback with both is that they have limited menu options, certainly not enough to last for a whole week, which is a shame as the ambience and the style of food in Camaleon restaurant is far superior to the buffet. Great to have so much choice though and the staff could not have been more friendly. These are people that take huge pride in their jobs always smiling, multilingual (all speak Spanish, German and English as a minimum) and enormously helpful. You must note that the Salobre resort is set apart from the main hustle and bustle of life in Gran Canaria, about 15 minutes from Maspalomas and 25 - 30 minutes from Playa Del Ingles. The hotel has a free shuttle to Meloneras, the beach district of Maspalomas and through this you can enjoy local shopping, beach bathing and restaurants but the last shuttle is 10pm so you can't rely on this for nightlife. Having said that, you wouldn't come to this hotel if you were a go-getting clubber anyway, it's too far off the beaten track. You also won't get any of the tour operators visiting to pick up for trips to the island attractions. As I've labelled it, this hotel is perfect for those seeking a luxurious relaxing getaway but if you want to explore as well then get a hire car. I have rated this 4/5 purely because we felt slightly let down by the standard of housekeeping (though note that we are very fussy!) and we wished the a la carte restaurant had a bit more choice on the menu - but apart from that this was exactly what we were looking for. Lovely hotel in a beautiful setting where nothing is too much trouble - bliss.

We are very happy that you enjoyed the big Sweet Sleeper Bed (one of Sheraton’s signature programs), it is very comfortable, isn’t it? Also the views from each room are stunning.

We will pass on the comments about the menu to our management. We are welcome to suggestions.

I'll be honest - I wasn't very happy when Mrs P said she had chosen Gran Canaria for our annual break. Preconceptions aside - Even a cursory look online will throw up pictures of holiday hell. Huge resorts full of screaming kids, sun loungers and cheap 'English Bars' - Worse still - the island appears to resemble Mars with an interior about as remote and as accessible (Look at the road network on Google Maps :(

Collected our hire car from the airport and hit the main (Only?) road that skirts the edge of the island. To be honest - it looked just how I pictured it - Grim. Approaching Maspalomas the hotels from hell towered up in the distant looking like Architectural rejects from Las Vegas, the landscape hard and baron.

But the road to the hotel takes you away from all of this - Literally, you wind your way up a small road (Pay attention to the road here and not the scenery!!) and over the hillside, moving inland away from Maspalomas and into a hidden valley, a hidden green oasis of a valley.

The hotel is part of a Resort - The Golf course, The Resort Villas (You can rent them) and the Hotel. You drive up the valley past the villas to the Hotel, set into the hillside overlooking the Golf course.
Lets get the Golf thing straight - it is there if you want it but I found little trace of its influence at the hotel (Apart from the Electric golf buggies parked out from) Forget any thoughts of large boring men wobbling round with Golf trolleys - yes a few people will play a round whilst staying here but it is by no means a dedicated Golf Resort Hotel... it is a Fantastic hotel in its own right.

So you arrive at the hotel and it feels like walking into an airport departure lounge - Huge scale , large features but in a warm subtle way.

The reception staff are as sharp as I have ever encountered - Fluent in French, Spanish, German, English .... I am sure the list goes on - Professional and very efficient.
The room was as expected - spacious, modern - A fantastic shower, and a balcony.

Meal times were a delight, good selection and an impressive wine list - we only ate in the main restaurant (We were half board) - looked at the other options but they seemed quite empty.

I don't know how full the hotel was during our week but I never felt like we were in such a huge hotel, the layout and design make for a very private and intimate stay.

Discover the rooftop pool and bar -Sun loungers and light Cafe del mar music - If for this one feature alone I would return to this hotel, the beach is 20mins away and its not that nice so don't fight it !! Arrive early to secure your lounger and stay till siesta time...
Return at sunset for a glass of Cava and watch the sun dip over the Sea - Cracking.

Check out the Spa - Again a very slick professional operation - With its own pool and hydrotherpy loungers !!

I am 35 and went with my Wife - I found it friendly, stylish, small hotel feel but with enough facilities that you never felt the need to stray too far.

I cannot recommend this hotel enough, I think the architect team have really shown what modern hotels can be like and all the staff should be very proud of one another - From Duty Manager to Room attendant, Head chef to Head gardener - Good Work.

We stayed at the Sheraton Salobre in mid July 2011 for 1 week and were not disappointed. We wanted to have a relaxing vacation far away from the daily routine, which we certainly had. The location is great, only 30 minutes away from the airport by car, it is a quite and luxurious urbanization on a hill. We arrived in the evening and were welcomed by the porter and then by the reception staff who were already expecting us, since we were their last check-in. They offered us a welcome drink, we could pick fresh orange juice, water or cava free of charge. Then we were brought to our room by the porter who explained everything very well. We requested, a room on a higher floor, after reading the reviews on tripadvisor and were not disappointed. We had a great room on the 10th floor over looking the golf course. The room was spacious and had everything for a pleasant stay. The bed was comfy and huge, the shower and bath featured a window into the room, so it was possible to look out of the room-window when showering, which was great! After that we had a dinner in the buffet restaurant, since unfortunately, for no reason, all other restaurants were closed and only open on Friday and Saturday. The salad buffet was average with a selection of canned and fresh veggies, salads, salmon etc. However, the meat at the live cooking station was great (this evening it was duck and something else). The chef was very friendly. The service staff was friendly, but clearly stressed out. The dessert selection was good, but by the end of the evening they ran out of some things. A nice touch, the ice cream with all kinds of toppings. It was not very good ice-cream but clearly a nice idea. We thought a frozen yogurt machine would be a great plus ( since it is a growing trend). The breakfast is ok with a good selection of warm and cold dishes and a jamon leg (great idea). However, it could be better by using branded and better tasting yogurts, better jams(they were not enjoyable) and proper muesli( in addition to all these "kellogs" flakes and pops). The bread and pastry selection was extensive and even boasted whole grain mini croissants, which looked like they were freshly made and tasted heavenly. The breakfast service staff was very attentive(esp. Adam) and remembered our order, the drinks came fast and dishes were cleaned promptly. However the tea selection was horrible, it had only tea bags which tasted like hay. It would be great to have a better tea selection and maybe even loose leaf tea to be served in pots. All in all the breakfast was good value for money. One night we asked for a good tapas restaurant and were recommended "La Tapita" which was anything else but good, a typical tourist trap in Maspalomas, it was disappointing since we know good tapas and very assured by the reception that it was VERY good, which apparently was NOT the case. The next evening we drove o las palmas and discover a great and very affordable "Allende" (reservation advised) which had great food (deep-fried eggplant fries with honey and "montaditos" to die for).
The hotel has 7(!) pools, so there is always space. We especially liked the sunset pool with comfy "bali" sunbeds, where we spent our days reading a book or napping. Only one small point of improvement are the missing curtains on some of the beds.
Once we also went to the the Camaleon the more fine-dining restaurant with table service. It was quite busy, and it seemed that they were a bit understaffed, but they managed. The music selection was quite amusing ( girly pop music) , but we liked it. The food was good and the prices reasonable. The 230 bar was nice and offered a variety of drinks and cocktails at reasonable prices (cocktail - 8euros). However, the bartender is not a professional one a had difficulties mixing some cocktails that were not on the menu. It is definitely worth it having a drink at the bar. On our last day we booked a massage in the spa, and then we also had free access(normally 15euros) to the spa pool and sauna etc. The spa is rather small and uninviting. The heated pool is a nice feature, however people can look into the pool area and which makes you feel like on a stage. The spa does not look very well kept up: all the floors were full of water and the relaxation beds were wet, because people would lay there with their wet bathing suits. The massage was disappointing and it was far too loud in the room because of the whirlpool, this made the massage rather less relaxing. We addressed the noise issue at the spa desk after our massage, but the receptionist acted surprised, although you could hear the whirlpool even in the spa reception area... a tip for the spa: make the doors of the treatment rooms sound proof and maintain the areas better .
All in all, our stay was good and we would definitely come back to the hotel, because you really can relax there(apart from the spa). The prices in the restaurants are reasonable and the room service is affordable. The extra fee for the internet is rather ridiculous nowadays, the parking fee of 7 euros for 24 hours is alright but you can also park your car on the street outside of the hotel for free(we always found a spot). We missed slippers in our room. But had complimentary drinks upon arrival in our room and every day two little bottles of water free of charge. One final thing is the gym which was relocated into the basement, and used to be upstairs at the sunset pool, it is bigger but has no natural light.
Our advice, come to the hotel and you will not regret it.

Room Tip: Room with golf course view!
