A modern hotel with interesting architecture set into the cliffs. The prices are reasonable for the type of hotel. Eating options were restricted but those available were good. Great infinity pool at the top of the resort with top quality sun beds and a good fitness centre. Staff are friendly and helpful.

Hotel location and facilities definitely 5 star, but it is let down by the quality of its food and service in the restaurants. Service in the bar is fine. There appear to be lack of staff waiting on the buffet restaurant at both breakfast and dinner and this results in dirty plates not being collected from the tables. The quality of the food at the buffet is average at best, with average presentation. The food and service is vastly superior at the 'a la carte' restaurant, but even here it can be hit miss. Our first night eating there the service was appalling and the food appeared to have been slopped on the plates with little forthought. Our grand daughter was not even asked whether she would like dessert. However subsequent nights the service and fodd was of the highest quality.

We had an interesting experience at the pool bar/restaurant when trying to order a pizza for our grand daughter. We had seen a family the day before order a pizza but when we tried to order one we were told they were not available. I suggested that we order it from the room service menu (I was happy to pay the tray service) and have it delivered to the pool bar/restaurant. We were told this was not possible as the kitchen was too far away, yet there were rooms significantly further away who could order a pizza on room service. The answer NO at 5 star hotel is not one I expect. I was expecting the answer to be YES we can manage that and for exceptional customer service to be delivered and staff to go that extra mile.

My grand daughter made use of the children's club and she fully enjoyed the activities they undertook, so praise must be given.

In summary the hotel needs to focus on delivering greater customer service and raise their standards with respect to food. Would I recommend it - yes but setting the expectation that the service and food sometimes let it down

Booked at the last minute this was just what we wanted and more. The Hotel was so peaceful it was heaven considering the number of people in the dining room. Staff were all very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. We had booked half board and although Buffets are not our first choice we could not fault the food. Breakfast had the best seelction of fresh fruit and wonderful breads and the different juice every day was lovely as was the Cava a rare treat for breakfast! Dinner was equally good and never stuck for anything to eat, in fact the opposite the choice was excellent in particular the Chinese evening. The waiters made us very welcome and the wine list was very reasonable and the house wine was very good, our Waiter Juan and his 'brother' looked after us very well. The room was excellent and the balcony superb and we did not hear any sound at except from the birds! Plenty of sun beds and peaceful spots to read and relax.

Room Tip: Room 902 was very good and just a short walk to the adults only 11th floor.

It's always nice to find a busy hotel where it doesn't feel busy. There are loads of little spots where you can sunbathe and relax in relative privacy. The rooms are massive and clean and the beds are huge. The pillows were too soft but housekeeping were more than happy to replace them for firmer ones.

The restaurants are excellent and the choice of fresh food from the main buffet is vast. The pools are great and the roof terrace has superb views over the golf course, mountains and down to Maspalomas and the sea.

Great hotel all round and will definitely come back!

We went here hoping for a quiet romantic holiday in September 2013 and it was just perfect.

I would though recommend car hire for anyone wishing to do more than just stay in the hotel as it is pretty much in the middle of no-where. Car hire was not expensive for a week and Gran Canaria is an amazing place to explore with fabulous beaches, in particular Maspalomas beach. Make sure you go to the sand dunes – we walked right through them when it was cooler in the late afternoon and it was like being in an Attenborough film - and driving up into the mountains to visit a tiny village called Tejeda was a spectacular trip (if a bit of a hairy journey but totally worth it!) The hotel is an easy half hour drive from the airport – you pretty much only have to stay on one main road. When we got to the hotel we left the car outside the front as we were unsure where to park it, and when we asked at the check in desk they actually took our keys and parked it for us, as well as immediately bringing my partners iphone and wallet to our room straight after, which he unknowingly had left in the car!

Check in was easy and quick and the staff were incredibly polite and helpful all throughout our stay. One particularly lovely lady on reception even gave us super advice on areas to visit/things to do in Gran Canaria that we would not have found ourselves otherwise (such as Tejeda). Could not thank her enough. On our last day they gave us a private hotel room to get changed and showered in before we went back to the airport as we had a late afternoon flight. Could not fault the staff here at all. We asked about providing water to drink in the rooms and the lady recommended signing up to a Sheraton traveller deal which was a free card which would give us 2 bottles of water in our room each day. There was a lovely person on the restaurant door for each meal to greet you and free welcome drink (choice of alcoholic or non) on the way into restaurant every time.

The hotel itself is big and spread out in different blocks and on many levels up the side of a mountain, so to begin with it is easy to get lost. It has very arty/unusual décor and layout and is very modern. We thought it was very impressive and tasteful. Our room was spacious and clean, with double sinks and the most amazing wet room with lovely shower and huge bath, which was a see through glass box so from the bed you could see into the shower (I assume they only give this room to couples! – the toilet is separate with a proper non-see through door). We had a lovely balcony, room safe, free wi-fi, air con, comfortable huge bed and beautiful view. Couldn’t have asked for more. The cleaners were great – never came in when we were there, always came when we weren’t in and always replenished lovely toiletries. Water temperature in the shower was inconsistent and kept going hot and cold but fairly minor issue – you just had to keep stepping in and out of it to counter for the changes! Personally I was less keen on the very squashy half size pillows but we asked for a couple more to make whole size ones (again, minor point ).

We were half board and we did not need lunch. We ate in the main restaurant for all meals – late breakfast time was really appreciated so we could have a decent lie in every day. If memory serves me correctly I think it went on till 11am. Food was fine, plentiful and reasonably varied. Great coffee and fresh fruit juices at breakfast. The main meal food was ok but nothing spectacular the majority of the time. Sometimes you also had to wait a while for things to be put out and queue and a lot of the main meal stuff/hot food was very average. To be honest I would have expected a bit better to be in line with the very high quality of this hotel. Puddings however were fab and there was an outdoor BBQ area which always had the best meat and fish cooked to perfection. Nothing really to complain about but I have stayed in hotels of this quality where the main meal food has been a lot better.

There was the option to book for the a la carte restaurant included in the half board, but for a set menu, which was not published until the day itself, which struck me as a bit crazy. The restaurant was booked full on quite a few nights and on the night we did book for when we finally got to see the menu we did not like the choice so cancelled it. It would be far more sensible if they published a weeks menu in advance so you could choose to book on the night that you knew you liked the food!

In the week we went, the hotel seemed to attract a fairly quiet type of clientele with very few children. The pool areas were clean and tidy, with comfortable sun beds. The over 16’s only large pool at the top of the complex was very nice with super views and some giant comfortable Balinese beds if you were able to get one of these (we did on 2 occasions). On some days we did struggle to find free sun beds, other days it was ok. I thought that the hotel could perhaps invest in some more sun beds so that there were enough to go around as there was plenty of space to put more out.

We also had a free spa visit included in our stay, which was great, with a lovely spa pool and facilities. Really enjoyed our session here.

I would highly recommend this quality hotel to anyone wishing for a peaceful holiday in exceptional surrounds. There was live music in one of the bars some nights, but nothing intrusive or loud anywhere and no animation team etc. when we were here.

Perfect bliss if you want quiet relaxation.
