I was almost tempted to do a terrible review to try to keep this place a secret - but the truth is that this place is hard to fault!

Our package included flights, transfers, half board accommodation and use of the spa. It was incredibly good value i felt given the quality of the experience, the location, facilities, service and sheer relaxation.

Our Easyjet flights were almost civilised given they're more like a proper airline these days!

The free transfer is easy due to the well organised system which is always a blessing when arriving, as often the 'last mile' can be the hardest. Be aware the free minibus will likely make several drop offs and this place seems to be the last, so the journey was an hour or so. So if you want to guarantee the quickest transfer you'll have to make your own arrangements.

Our room was on the fourth level (there are 11!) with a balcony affording a fabulous vista overlooking the front of the hotel, old golf course, mountains and across to the sea a few miles away. It was comfortable, well equipped, spacious and clean. The bathroom was a wet room with monsoon shower which was fabulous!

The only downside to the room was the overly complicated television. Don't be embarrassed to call for help! There were far more German language channels than English. This isn't a complaint as we didn't go for the television coverage! There is ample Wifi coverage in room and in public places which works pretty well. It did drop out for a day but the hotel got the issue fixed.

Tip: I would recommend asking for a room that didn't overlook the restaurant as this may be a little noisy at times.

The room was effectively a twin with two single beds pushed together. It had a curious glass panel that allowed a full length view of anyone showering from the bedroom. When we asked our porter what the purpose of the panel was he replied simply "Romantico" - which made us laugh - but seriously, if you are friends sharing a twin you may want to ensure you are comfortable with this!

The hotel complex is large and has lots of choice of pools, recliners, balinese beds and the like. Getting around is fairly straightforward once you have worked out how the lifts are arranged because some only go a few floors.

Tip: go for a really good wander as soon as you are checked in as this place takes some working out and there are loads of nooks and crannies to explore!

There are amazing vistas wherever you are because of the elevated location. There are a couple of really nice infinity pools that maximise the experience of being up in the gods.

Our dining experiences were very good. We had breakfast and dinner as part of our deal. We used the main Gofio restaurant and found the choice and quality to be very good. A glass of fizz with breakfast and a cocktail with dinner is always offered with a smile. We also chose from the wine list which cost extra. The list isn't very extensive and the cheaper wines sell out but the wines we had were very good.

My girlfriend is gluten intolerant and she felt adequately catered for although my advice to the hotel would be to invest more effort into the food labelling as it wasn't clear what gluten free options were available. I'm sure coeliacs are able to fend for themselves but it would just be that little touch safer.

There is a choice of a couple of other dining experiences. We didn't try these but other reviewers have, so best check their reviews out.

At the top of the hotel complex, the Sunset bar is a fabulous place to get a sun downer. The only problem with this bar was that in low season the bar shuts early and well before sunset which seems like a missed opportunity! They have a sunset party on a Sunday, which is only one night and still has quite an early finish!

We found the hotel staff (everywhere) to be universally efficient, corteous and a real asset to this place. We often left a do not disturb sign on the room until well into the afternoon and yet the room was always made up on return!

We used the spa facilities and had treatments. They're priced at the same level as high end spa treatments in the uk and the setting and facilities are fantastic. We had use of the spa thrown in. It was great to have that.

There are a couple of golf courses to choose from. I played the new course and whilst it is breathtaking to play on holes carved out of the side of a mountain it is also not for the casual golfer. If you play occasionally I recommend the old course as a fairer challenge. Some of the golf holes are stunning and the course plays plays well for a high dry location. The greens are very quick!

I could go on and on about this hotel and we barely scratched the surface. We only had a week here and for instance we didn't take the free shuttle to the beach because we didn't feel like we had exhausted the pools and facilities in the week we had (and we're a bit lazy!).

One thing I would say is that we were the last week classed as low season - even though the weather was fantastic - and it got noticeably much busier on the first day of school holidays. But the hotel still dis not feel overcrowded even with the influx. If you have the choice try booking at the end of low season and you really will feel like you have the place to your selves!

From the warm greeting on the first day, and the much needed welcome drink to the very last day at the Sheraton Salobre, this was one of the best hotel experiences ever.

The hotel was beautiful, the staff were amazing and the food was incredible.

I would recommend this hotel to ANYONE visiting Gran Canaria.

We (a couple in our mid 40s) have just returned from a week in July. The hotel was wonderful from start to finish. As you crest the hill leading to the hotel it is an oasis of green in the surrounding arid area. The hotel is set on the edge of the hill on various levels which means it is not at all congested.

Throughout our week the staff were all very friendly, happy and welcoming. Our room was very luxurious, spotlessly clean and very well serviced.

We were booked in for half board. At breakfast and dinner on arrival we were given a glass of cava or a aperitif. The food selection was incredible, all freshly cooked. If we had stayed 2 weeks there would still be dishes that we didn't have time to try. The best quality and variety we have come across in a hotel.

All of the pools were very well maintained and there were ample sunbeds to change locations during the day. The top pool area is adults only so was perfect for a relaxing holiday.

A free courtesy bus to the beach was available to be booked each day. This dropped us off at a villa where towels were available, changing facilities and a small pool could be used after a hard day on the beach.

I would recommend the hotel to friends and would be more than happy to return.

Being set on a hill side, despite lifts and ramps, the hotel would be difficult of the infirm or wheelchair-bound.

My husband and I returned from a 10 night holiday at the Sheraton Salobre last week. From the moment we arrived we were greeted by courteous, professional and very friendly staff. I would like to commend all staff from the start to end of our stay as they were all fantastic. At check-in we were greeted with a glass of Cava and shown to our room. There was one minor glitch in that our TV remote control was not working but that was quickly fixed.

We were on a half board package. All I can say is that the food was absolutely amazing and we were spoilt for choice. It was particularly good to have the hot food of our choice cooked in front of us. There are two sittings for dinner in the evening and we had to let reception know if we wanted to change from one to the other, which we did on a few occasions. This was never a problem. My only comment is regarding babies and small children in the dining room. Some of our meals were spoilt by screaming/fussing children. Perhaps all small children should be seated in one area of the dining room or asked to eat at one sitting all together. We were enjoying listening to a classical guitarist but it was then interrupted by the sound of a toddler seated in a buggy by the table playing with loud electronic games.

One more comment I'm afraid also involves children. We decided to go up to the sunset level to watch the sun go down one evening, only to discover a family encouraging their children to jump in and out of the infinity pool! This somewhat spoilt the evening.

Apart from these two comments, we very much enjoyed our stay at the Sheraton Salobre and were particularly impressed with the peace and quiet of our room. Our room was a very good size and the bed amazingly comfortable and large. It was also good to have blackout curtains. We slept very well throughout our stay. We loved the bathroom area with his and hers basins plus the large bath and wonderful shower in the wet room (with window into the bedroom).

We used the hotel provided shuttle bus on a couple of occasions. You need to get tickets for the outbound and return trip from reception. Never a problem. I would also recommend hiring a car. We hired one from the hotel at very reasonable rates. We drove into the mountains a couple of times where the views and scenery are simply stunning. On another day we drove to Puerto de Mogan, a very pretty fishing port and beach.

We went to the spa towards the end of our holiday and wish we had been there earlier. One visit was included in the package but it only cost 15 euros for a visit on subsequent occasions. The spa pool is lovely and warm. A hint regarding the spa is to get there early when it opens, as it get quite busy later in the day.

A wonderful holiday and we will certainly return. Thank you to all the staff for welcoming us and making it so special.

Just got back last night from this amazing place, I have travelled all over the world and stayed in 100’s of hotels but this one beats them all. So great full to my daughter to finds this heaven for us.
If I can say…. that over the 7 days we stayed there, we could not fault anything. The staffs are just amazing; the rooms fault less, food just perfect, so peaceful could not believe it, and played Golf what more can one ask for.
Already thinking of going back next year for a short winter break to get some sun, Sheraton please do not change anything  . I would give this hotel 5+ *

Jay

Room Tip: as far as I know all rooms are perfect and over looking the golf course and mountains.

My daughter and I have just returned from a fabulous week at the Sheraton Salobre and we enjoyed every minute of it. We were given a warm and friendly greeting and we were lucky enough to be upgraded to a suite. The room was fantastic with a lovely large terrace, large comfy bed and fabulous bathroom and shower room. The room was serviced twice daily by lovely, friendly staff. We had half board and we were overwhelmed by the fabulous choices at both the breakfast buffet and dinner buffet, staff went out of their way to be friendly and accommodating at every mealtime. The pools were fantastic, there were always ample sunbeds and the beds up at the panorama pool were outstanding. We treated ourselves to a couple of treatments at the Aloe Spa and again, found staff to be friendly and efficient and we loved the Spa Pool. Not too keen on Gran canaria itself but would recommend the Sheraton wholeheartedly for a relaxing, luxurious break.

We spent seven nights at Sheraton Salobre this July. From the first minute until the last, it gave us an amazing experience with wonderful staff, excellent facilities and lovely food.

We were welcomed on arrival with a glass of Cava at check-in, setting the standard for service at the hotel. It is quite large, but there was never a sense of rush or having to fight for a sunny spot or seat in the bar(s). There are no less than four pools (there may be more we didn't discover!), and although the ones outside the spa are a little cold, all are very pleasant. The Sunset bar area on floor 11 is something special, with panoramic views in all directions, a large infinity pool, lots of sunbeds and some attractive gardens. Importantly for us, this area is off-limits to kids, meaning we had the peace and quiet we craved - although to be honest most guests seemed to be couples anyway. All the pools, the public areas and the rooms were spotlessly clean. Although we didn't spend too long in it, our room was very comfortable with King-size bed, balcony with a fantastic view and a very good bathroom. The Aloe Spa is wonderful, although possibly quite small if the hotel is busy but we had no problem with access during our stay. The pool in the spa is heated, there are also the usual jacuzzi, steamrooms, saunas, etc and a range of massages and beauty treatments - although we didn't try the latter.

Breakfast and dinner begins with a complimentary drink - cava in the morning, and a different aperatif in the evening. The food selection at breakfast and dinner buffets offers a huge range to suit all tastes, was all very fresh and well prepared, including a range of fish, meat and vegetable options cooked to order. Dessert was a feast of its own, from fresh fruit to freshly-baked cakes and puddings.

We had only one minor problem during our stay, with a TV remote control not functioning on arrival. One call and it was sorted out. Similarly, a minor medical emergency was handled very smoothly by reception staff, with a taxi called and an appointment made with a dentist on our behalf. Antonio in reception and Alex the chef, and the lady and gentlemen at the Golfio restaurant door deserve credit for their excellent service - but really every member of the team we met was lovely. Nothing was too much trouble, and everyone was very pleasant.

So if you are a couple looking for a relaxing break in luxurious surroundings, good food and a completely stress-free experience, look no further. I might suggest the hotel could be a little boring if you're after family-friendly facilities or a more lively holiday. There is only one relatively small bar open till late, and it is of the laid-back variety although with some very nice live music on Saturday and Sunday. But for a relaxing break, Sheraton Salobre is perfect.

Room Tip: The higher the floor, the better the view.
