“Top quality service, cannot fault”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 July 2009

We enjoyed every moment of our stay here (7 days) and cannot recommend the hotel highly enough.

Good points-
>The service from all of the staff was excellent, everyone was very helpful and polite and made every effort to assist us during our stay.
>The hotel was very clean/well kept, an interesting aesthetic but very nicely designed, especially the pool areas.
>Although we did not use the Spa or Golf course, both were of a very high standard.
>The hotel was not crowded during our stay as for a Golf resort it was considered a low season. However, the resort could have easily handled more guests.
>It is away from the main town meaning it is very quiet/peaceful. This may be ideal for some, or not for others however it is a spa/golf hotel primarily so this fits in with the design. We enjoyed the fact that it was away from the noise of the main towns.
>Breakfast was of a very high standard, again with very good service, as was the evening menu and room service. The hotel has an excellent restaurant which is worth the money.
>Rooms are very comfortable and finished to a high standard- the only thing that could be said is the odd design- which includes a see through window between the shower/bath and the bed- so if you require privacy - not the best choice! For us this was not a problem.

Bad points-
>The hotel location is not ideal, although it is just off of the motorway there is a winding road to get to the hotel which can be a little tiring if you are driving, however the Hotel offers a bus service to the beach which runs frequently. Taxis are also relatively easy to come by.
>The general area is currently being redeveloped, hence you need to head to the main town for shops etc. it is more residential. Some may prefer something closer to the main towns. (If you have a hire car however this is less of a problem as it is 5 minute drive).
>The only issue with the actual hotel is the parking charge- probably relevant for peak season, but in the low season where a substantial part of the car park is empty, a €7 per day charge seems excessive. There is parking just outside the hotel on the road however, which is were we found most people parked.

Overall i would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a nice relaxing break in a new/stylish hotel offering great service and food worthy of a 5 star.

We stayed at the Sheraton in the last week of May and had a superb holiday. We loved the location of the hotel; going back from the main resort was always a pleasure and a relief. The mountains are beautiful, especially in May, as there are a lot of colours and flowers. The views from the hotel room (we had a corner room on the 11th floor) were just perfect; all you could see were gorgeous mountains and the sea in the distance. The hotel itself is modern and minimalist, with beautiful plants and landscaped gardens. There are lots of lovely areas to discover and enjoy. I loved the way quality, natural materials were used to create beautiful space. The sunset pool is all you expect. I have not swam in the pool surrounded by mountains before, so the experience was very special.
Although the hotel is undoubtedly beautiful, it is not totally immaculate. However, a little chip here and there did not spoil the overall effect.

The service was excellent, everyone was friendly and really helpful. We appreciated their advice about the places to visit and good restaurants. They did not try to push their own restaurant.

Rooms
The rooms were ok. Nothing exceptional, but very comfortable. No privacy in the shower. The balcony was lovely and the view is what made the hotel really special for us.

Restaurants
Breakfast in the hotel was very good.

We ate in a seafood restaurant in Meloneras called Rias which was good, but quite expensive and strangely located in a shopping centre. Our favourite restaurant was Restaurante Patio Canario overlooking the very pretty marina of Puerto Mogan. Well worth a drive (approx 20 mins) on a very good, well marked road, no problem driving back in the dark. We had excellent fish and paella there, served with flair by Oscar. Another very good restaurant was La Casa Vieja, follow the signs for Fataga off the GC1. Don't be put off by the neon sign. It is not a fast food joint. You will get excellent, made to order food at very reasonable prices. It has live music on some nights.

Beaches and sightseeing
We spent most days on the beach of Maspalomas. The dunes are vast and it is relatively easy to find a quiet spot if you are prepared to walk for 10 mins or so. Bear in mind that the beach has a large nudist zone, which can be easily avoided as it is clearly marked. We used the Sheraton Beach House a few times to shower on the way back from the beach, before we went off to explore the island. We had it to ourselves each time and the attendant was very friendly and helpful. The mountains are a must. A drive to San Bartolome was very scenic. The cave houses near Ingenio and the pretty town of Aguimes with its bronze statues were really interesting, not what we expected. Puerto Mogan is another quaint and lovely place to visit.

We had a hire car for the week and I don't think we would want to stay at the Sheraton without it. There is a shuttle bus to Maspalomas and there are taxis, but it would be a pain for us. It was very easy to park the car in the street right outside the hotel, so you don't have to use their car park as they charge for it. Although we used it free of charge on our first night as we arrived late. Parking in the resorts was not that difficult.

We had a fabulous holiday at the Sheraton and would recommend it to anyone who does not mind staying away from the main resort (approx.10 mins drive) and is not looking for a lively hotel with nightly entertainment, etc. The drinks at the bar were reasonably priced,
£8 for cocktails, £6 in the resort, and were excellent. We did not experience any effects of the microclimate in the mountains. The weather was gorgeous all the time.

Second time there so they must have done something right first time round. An even better room this time - spacious balcony with great views to the mountains. Only gripe was that there was only one restaurant open in the evening which had a limited menu if you were there for long - it was off season for them so the buffet restaurant only opened on Sunday. It did mean though that the hotel was very quiet so lots of choice of sunbeds, Balinese beds etc! Useful bus to Maspalomas for restaurants and bar. Most importantly we were able to relax.

Stayed in the nearby villas last year and decided on the hotel this year. Web booking rate only €105 per room per night, room only. Quoted €20 pp for breakfast.

Hotel double debitied my card at time of booking but all sorted with one phone call. On check in, advised that our rate included breakfast....result.

Terrific room, spacious, spotless, modern, massive bed, seperate wet room, comfortable, on 8th floor with a mountain and distant sea view. Large terrace area with sunbeds, table & chairs and day bed.

Breakfast would have been well worth the price. Spectacular buffett with quality and quantity in abundance. Runs 7am to 11am - how civilised! Great staff literally running from table to kitchens and back to ensure no one was waiting more than a moment for a table, coffee or anything.

Great aspect of this hotel is the design, with almost as much outdoor space as there is indoor - dozens of lounging areas, all comfortably furnished and kept immaculately clean. 7 pools to choose from and none felt crowded, even over the Easter holiday.

Spa is spectacular, Tapas bar menu a bit limited but otherwise good, 230 bar very comfortable with good service.

Although the location is a good (but easy) 10-15 minute drive to Meloneras or Maspalomas, the peace and quiet and mountain views more than compensate.

If you're a golfer (I'm not) you've really hit the jackpot with 27 holes literally on the doorstep, smart clubhouse facillities and shop.

Even at the rack rate, a great hotel in every way. Guests of all nationalities, upmarket but never stuffy or pretentious. The Sheraton website doesn't really do this hotel (or its excellent management) justice, all my expectations were exceeded. Would certainly return.

2 adults 2 children aged 6 and 3 stayed nine nights, premier corner room.

check in was quick and professional, champagne on arrival and in the room within 10 minutes. Reception is very modern like the rest of the hotel with harwood, slate, glass and lime stone the style throughout.

Hotel is on 11 floors set against the mountain in blocks of 3 and 4 floors. We had a corner room on 10th floor. Room was large plenty room for our party. wet rrom with shower and bath sepertate toilet, flat screen tv and plenty towels and freebies. Plenty storage and wardrobes.

Bed was huge, not so keen on any of the 7 pillows. Balcony was large with excellent furnishings, the view was outstanding looking over several pools, the golf course and mountain and sea views beyond

Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice, the food was of a good standard but the service for omelletes and fried eggs could be a little slow at times. The other restaurants were again all very modern and stylish, the food of a good standard the pricing as with much in GC very overpriced.

The pool areas are very attractive but could be more child friendly. The sunset pool on the 11th floor was the most child friendly and the views up there were fantastic.

I dont have any real negatives about this hotel it is very good but it lacks something i cant quite out my finger on, its may be a little to chic and lacks a bit of character?

I would not put anyone of this hotel it is very good and 4star plus imo.

GC is very expensive for what it is and we wont return in a hurry.

Stayed at this hotel for a week with my wife who is 22 weeks pregnant as we needed time to relax and unwind.
Location is great - away from the noise and chaos around 'Ingles' but not too far from all the hotspots on the island.
Lots of space to lounge around - plenty of sunning areas!
We hired a car to get about - be aware central parking spots are not always clearly identified in town and we got towed!!!! Cost €150 to get the car back.
Parking charges apply at the hotel - €7 per day
No kettle which is extremely annoying so i had to get hot water from the bar for tea/coffee.
Spar shop at the entrance to the hotel for snacks etc.
