Fantastic hotel, great staff isabelle (receptionist) could not of done more for you. Pools - Large one very cold but the others were great. Apartment was clean could not fault it. I would recommend to anyone looking for a great hotel . However, did not use the entertainment, Bar or restaurant, we went out to the local restaurants not too far away.
The beach was only 20 mins walk away but hotel laid on a bus service (free) to the beach. Local buses to puerto rico, las palmas just a short walk away.
Hope you enjoy your holiday as much as we did, we will be returning again.

well i have to say i agree with previous reviews it is a quiet area and the hotel was half full being january we went for my daughters 18th birthday there are plenty of places to go but you do need to get taxis which are there in a flash just ask reception but cheap 3/4 euros into playa del ingles the same to get into meloneras lovely and quiet at night so got a good night sleep but to get the most out your holiday you need to hire a car which is what we did for 3 days and drove around the island down to peurto rico and peurto moran and out to atlantico shopping centre and they have january sales the weather all week was fantastic and we all came back with a tan bungalows were spotless clean towels 3 times in a week which i thought was quite good had worse pool area spotless swimming pool freezing excellent thomson rep niaomi very helpful been there 4 years so very knowlegable all in all great holiday but you do need to make a effort to get out and about as there is loads to do and a week isnt long enough for what we paid i was very pleased and will be returning next january i would say go self catering as the food we tryed one evening in the hotel was of poor quality bad bellies the next day but the euro is really expensive and i found puerto rico alot cheaper than maspalomas so just take plenty of money

I went to the cay beach bungalows for a week with my husband and we enjoyed our time here. Cant fault the rooms very clean and with a kettle, toaster and microwave pot and pans plates ect,you had everything you needed.
The main pool is lovley but you cannot swim in it this time of year as its frezzing! Just far too big to warm up. Theres a smaller one but this isnt much better i was dissapointed because im a keen swimmer.
The location of these aptments is poor, about 10 min walk (turn right out the front of the apt and go down the side ally) is Faro 2 shopping centre it has a few resturants which we ate a few times at cho jullian very nice, and 1 bar called Banjo's this was a really good bar for dancing the Dj is mint and it has a pole!!!
But other than that theres not much open in this centre which is ashame cos thats all thats near the aptments!
The holiday world is not far from that along the road but this was dead, might be busy in summer monthes tho.
One good thing is taxi's are really cheap so they will get you places you cant reach by foot because everything is spread out here.
A nice day/evening is in Masplomas faro bolvard near the light house its very up market here with shops, resturants, and a nice walkway
Also dont miss the sand dunes, catch the free bus from the hotel.
We visited the Yumbo centre a few times in playa del ingles, theres a few bars in which we were allowed in as most of them are for the gay only.
It is a bit like a concrete jungle like most people say on here and yes tacky, but hay if you are open mined and up for a laugh go on a night time there plenty shops and resturants too.
Dont go to the drag show downstairs called Rickys I got slapped on the back of the head by a drag Queen lol i wasnt happy and neither was my hubby!
We went to Hollywood bar a really nice lad who works in there called Jamie and the drinks are worth the money!
We went to the Kasbah 1 night but we didnt like it and heard there are lots of fights on a night time were police has to be called i think its the spanish causing trouble with us English! So we stayed clear of that.
All in all we had a good time and met some really nice people at the aptments,The weather was hot during the day but cool on a night time but hay it was dec.One thing you might want to do before you go is e-mail the aptments and ask for a pool side bungalow because people were broken into at the back aptments they have wooden slats on there windows as apose to double glazing and one couple had there passports stolen! Not a thing you want to happen away.
I dont think me and my Husband would return to Gran caneria weve done it and theres nothing drawing us back.
But we did have a good time and im sure if you dont pay alot for it you will have a good time too. Happy hols!

I travelled here with my partner and 15yr old daughter and found the staff to be friendly and helpful, the apartments were clean and equipt with enough to get by, the kitchen had a two ring hob, wasnt very big but i didnt plan to spend much time in there anyway. You have to pay extra for a/c, cleaners came in everyday. Bathroom was a good size with bath and shower, bedroom was also a good size with built in wardrobe, my daughter slept quite happily on the sofa bed. We didnt have any meals at the hotel its self so cant tell you anything about them. The pool is fantastic, large and clean but cold but when you get over the initial shock its very freshing. Towards the one end was a whirlpool that was lovely to sit in. There was a small shop just on the corner by the steps where you go into the reception which had anything you needed for your stay. If you turned left out of the reception and followed the road around, then crossed a road over a bridge and carried on straight, took about 10mins there was a small shopping complex which had bars, restaurants, clothes shops, souveniers, supermarket etc. a walk further along perhaps another 5/10mins there was an amusment park. Outside reception a bus came regulary to take you to the nearest beach and back again, defiantly worth going, beautiful beach and it was nice to walk along the sea front as there was plenty of shops, bars, cafes on the beach some of the locals had made some wonderful sand sculptures. Cay beach bungalows are set in a peacful area and are more of a family place than anyone who wants busy, busy, busy.although you can catch taxis out infront of hotel and are plenty cheap enough.

We booked this through thomson as accommodation only and booked a ryan air flight which worked out a lot cheaper than some people paid for a package. For what we paid, it was a good place to stay. The rooms are basic and very small but fine for a week stay. Our 4 year old and 20 month old had to share the front room/kitchen so we set up the sofa bed and rearranged it so we could leave it up for the week. The pool is great and clean and perfect children's pool at one end. Ele (the animation team) was great and provided all entertainment, kids club etc on his own.

The food at the hotel wasn't great so most nights we walked up to Faro 2 shopping centre which has a couple of good restaurants. Also, hired a car and took a trip round the island which is worth seeing. We used the free shuttle bus to get down to the beach a couple of times, which is really sandy as long as you go to the dunes part of the beach, although if it's very too windy can be unbearable. Weather was fantastic the whole week too, not too hot to need air con and not too cold in the evenings.

Went here 14th november first impression was was good has we requested pool view and got it. until half way through when i found my towel had been used to doubt a fire which happened next door to us and it was totally ruined. recpetion however was very helpful and refunded us the value. weather was brilliant and would go back but not to this hotel has it is a bit far out from the main centre. food was ok but very very small choice and and was a bit boring. pool was great had jacuzzi beds which were fantastic. all in all was an ok holiday going back in may 2010 but to anothe hotel.
