“Not a fault!”
Reviewed 9 July 2012

A fantastic beach situated in Mellieha Bay. Very close to the beach and in such a beatutiful location with vineyards up hill out front and sea out behind. Mini supermarket very convenient and useful! The two pools are incredibly warm, especially the roof pool at the end of a hot day! Rooms were faultless! Very clean and bright with free fans which keep the rooms cool if left on over night. Comfy beds and incredibly nice sleep. The restaurant does a lovely fry up for breakfast and nice dinners. Lastly, the staff could not have been more helpful.

I am a family of four and this was a tremendous hotel to stay in. I recommend the hotel for the reasons above and it's is such a pretty and ideal location.

Book now!

Room Tip: Upper floors, on the side of the sea for no traffic noise.

Although I always have a good stay in mellieha, and have stayed at the Luna many times, this one time I have been devastated. I had left a 9ct gold necklace in the room when we checked out. It was not worth a lot but the charms were over 25 years old, one belonging to my daughter, given to her when she was born 29 yrs ago, another given by a Maltese friend over 15 yrs ago. I telephoned the hotel twice and after various emails, the reply I got was 'item not found' because I didn't use the safe. Does this mean, guests' valuables are open to abuse if one does not use the safe? Very very disappointed with the lack of care and the fact that I am being blamed cos I did not use the safe......... Be careful of room thieves...............

Room Tip: Do not pick sea view rooms as these dont really have a sea view and sometimes you end up facing some...

Hi Karen,

If I may paint the picture to all the readers to this review:
The reviewer checked out of your room on the 21st June 2012, three weeks later the 5th of July a call was received at the front desk stating that a necklace was left in the room.

Once you mentioned that you may have left your necklace in your room, we immediately followed our normal procedure; called the Head of Housekeeping, he in-turn discussed with the room attendants who checked and cleaned the room after your departure. The room was found empty no belongings to previous guests where brought in or found . We also checked with the lost and found logs, and no necklace was brought in.

The Room attendant who cleaned your room has been with us for over 5 years and we have full trust in her, needless to say we asked her questions about this matter, and did a full locker search of the whole team, as is normal procedure.

As you mentioned items are left in the rooms, and we normally store them in the hotel's safe and immediately contact the guest who just vacated that room. Items such as phones, cards, and other valuables have been found in other rooms and always handed in. After guests are contacted we always arrange postage of the items as is necessary.

Like other hotels we are not liable to items left in the room, especially after check out, however we did all the necessary checks capable 3 weeks after check out. Unfortunately we could not find your necklace in question. As you mentioned in your email, you were initially quite sure that you had safely packed the item, we encourage you to look again in your suitcases and any other items brought from Malta, we will keep an eye out just in case it turns up, do let us know if it is found by you.

I am very sorry your item has gone missing, I do understand that such items may not have high monetary value, but have very high sentimental value.
I assure you we did our utmost to search for your missing items.

Warm regards
Kyle

5 of us stayed in a 2 bedroom self catering flat at the Luna. We paid a very good price for the holiday and were pleased with what we got for the money including reasonably spacious flat, 2 good pools - roof top one has brilliant views and ground floor one has great staff in the bar. Staff throughout the hotel were really friendly and helpful.

A big apartment complex right next to the waterfront in Mellieha Bay wasn't exactly what we'd been looking for, but the friendly night watch got us a serviced apartment with two bedrooms for 70 EUR/night. AC is an additional 10 EUR a night, but being Norwegians, we opted for the fans. After almost a week, we're quite happy. The location is good, the staff friendly and hardly to be seen, the small mini market on the bay side is well stocked and the sun is shining, so what else is there to ask for if you're on a tight budget? Oh yes, a pool, and guess what! Luna Complex has two of them. One on the roof and one which doubles as a crooner restaurant at night. As for their food, we didn't try it. I see someone's been complaining about the noise, but that must've been the crooner we stayed away from :-) I slept like a horse all through the nights!

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the bay side, preferably with a lift...

Hi There,

Thank you for taking the time to write your review!

I am glad to read that you where happy with our product, and the service we provided. We always do our best to make sure our guests are happy!

We try to keep our rates as low as possible, our guests have the option to have only the apartment, which is equipped with all room amenities as well as a kitchen.
Therefore guests are able to pay the basic rates for just the apartment, but can then opt for more, such as aircon, daily housekeeping (normally its 3 times a week), Breakfast, dinner, they can also pop in The Dining room for an A la Carte dinner. Guests obviously have free access to our pools.

In this way guests are able to decide how much they want to spend without forking out money for services they do not require.

I thank you for taking the time to write a review.
Warm regards

Have just returned from holiday at Luna Holiday Complex in Malta. This was our first visit to Malta and we really enjoyed it. The hotel was very clean and staff friendly and welcoming.

The island is beautlful and we shall most certainly be returning to both Malta and Luna next year.

We ate mostly at the Blue Water resturant - again a really friendly welcoming place to eat, food excellent as was the service there.

Room Tip: we stayed at the front of the building on the second floor, a busy road however the free air conditi...

Room was clean and tidy. Equipment (only kettle and small oven) quite old, but acceptable. We had a room with windows on the road. The noise was unbearable!! All day and night there is traffic and you feel living by the motorway:( AC was extra charge so during the day you feel at sauna if you stay at room. At night it is not better :( If I visit Malta again I will look for a better hotel. Although it is close to the beach and convenient mini market is in hotel.

Room Tip: Pay more for a sea view - at least noise is not so huge

Good Afternoon,

Thank you for taking the time to write your review. I am sorry you did not enjoy your stay with us. Unfortunately one of the Main roads that bypasses the hotel is currently under construction, thus routing more traffic than normal in front of Luna. I apologise for not being able to move you to a higher floor or to a seaview, currently the hotel is almost full making it harder to accomodate all our guests requests. The road was to br re-open last June, but it has only been partially opened. We are hoping that it will be fully opened soon so that we can avoid the larger amount of cars passing in front of us.

Thank you for writing your review.

Luna was the only accommodation which was true to its looks on the internet. We just came back from Malta and we had funny experiences with hotels, but Luna was ok, even though I did not expect. I slept fine!

It is fairly new though and I hope it will stay good as it is, clean and again – clean! This time we came without kids, but for what I have seen, it is very much family orientated and they offer wide range of activities. This is the place we would come back and try the family option.

Price/value very correct!

Hello there!

Thank you so much for taking the time to write your review! I am glad to read that you enjoyed your stay, and commented that it was a good holiday, and that the hotel looks new. In fact Luna has been open for 30 years now! however every winter we close our doors, to prepare for the next summer, and that is how we keep the place up to standard. In fact this winter 2012/2013 we plan to refurbish all the Family rooms or as we call them two bedroom apartments, so it will be great that you will try our family option next time you come!

do drop me a line to organise your next stay with us!
Looking forward to welcoming you again to Luna!
Warm regards
