I had a family holiday to Malta with my husband and two children. We fell in LOVE !!!! Not only was the Luna Complex staff welcoming, but the rooms were big, light and what you would expect. We had a lovely view of the mountain in front of us. Would often have our breakfast in the hotels restaurant which was very tasty hot, if you ordered cooked or plenty to choose from if you wanted continental. The swimming areas, were wonderful, after a days visiting to come back and go swimming in the hotels roof swimming pool, we all really miss that now we are home !
Malta is a beautiful country with beautiful people. Nothing was too much trouble for anyone. We enjoyed walking down to water front of any evening and having a drink on the front.

Not sure what other people or seeing or if they actually came to this hotel when they complain. We had none of the problems they are talking about. We just had a fabulous time.

Wonderful two weeks in Malta. Arriva bus service on island fabulous cost 2 euro 60 to travel anywhere on the island. A must to book up with English Rose boat cruise in Mellieha Bay as this was very cheap for an all day cruise to Comino and stop over for snorkling and diving at the blue lagoon, highly recommend as crew make fresh sandwiches, tea coffee, beer, snacks whenever.
Excellent way to view Valleta go to Sliema and take a water taxi across to Valleta, very picturesque.
Day trip to Gozo from Cirrwerra 4.95 euro return. Medina/Rabat well worth a visit also easy accessible by bus. What a beautiful sun kissed island.
The hotel itself was clean, linen every 3 days, towels changed every day very impressed, hotel staff were very friendly at reception and also the restaurant. Buffet night had more variety that other nights where they wasn't much choice but still satisfactory. Roof top pool very relaxing with stunning views.

Room Tip: Higher floors would have better view and choose one to the back of the hotel if possible

Hi Gillian,

I am happy to read you had a great time here at Luna, in Malta!
We do our best to make everyone's stay as enjoyable as possible, and we love to see it recognised by our guests!

Just to give a brief overview of our dining options; The Diningroom which is our main restaurant gives various options; Apart from its extensive A La Carte menu, We organise a buffet dinner for all our guests on Half Board and those who would like to opt for the buffet. The Buffet is also varied on specific days based on Themes, such as Oriental Night, BBQ night and also Carvery night, the rest of the evenings the buffet is still quite extensive basing itself on Mediterranean and international cuisine.

Thank you once again for your review!
I do hope to see at Luna again in the future!

Warm regards

Good Morning,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review! I am glad to read that you had an overall enjoyable time here in Malta and with us at Luna.

I am sorry you found your room to be quite small, normally guests tell us that the rooms are very spacious.

With regards to the Aircon, some of the rooms do not have aircon included, this is done with the aim of keeping our costs and thus our rates low for our guests. It is clearly marked on our website, and is made clear with all our agents. All rooms are equipped with ceiling fans, and most of our guests find this to be enough. If when in house you would like to have aircon then this is given as a option from the reception.

I thank you once again for your review!

Warm regards

We have just returned from 14 nights at the Luna Holiday Complex. Before we left the UK I checked the reviews on TripAdvisor and was really worried about a couple in particular that complained about a crane that "ruined" their holiday.... what a load of RUBBISH!!!!

Firstly; we requested a high floor - sea view room with a balcony and got all three!

The room was clean, functional and spacious offering all you needed for a self catering get away. Our view was beautiful, it looked over the bay and the surrounding countryside, if i leant over the balcony (not that there would be any reason for me to!) then there was a small crane (with its arm down) in a small site between the hotel and bay... Mellieha is beautiful, i have no idea why someone would stare at the crane even if it was up when there are so many beautiful things to look at - so hopefully that stops readers worrying like I did.

Hotel - the hotel is very clean and well run, we arrived early and our rooms were made available to us earlier, not that they had to but because they could and are helpful.

Rooms are cleaned every few days or so, with sheets and towels changed, the cleaners were all lovely and very hard working especially in the heat and in between if your room gets dirty then a broom and mop etc are provided so you can give the place a quick flick around if you wish.

There are three areas where you can eat or drink in the hotel - they all work off the same menu and we found the food very reasonably priced and of good quality, some reviews have said the menu was limited but actually 90% of the restaurants we went to have a similar menu - pizza, pasta etc. A special mention for Paul and john the bar men who were very helpful : )

There are two pools - the one downstairs is ideal for families with younger children as they can run around with other children playing with balls or inflatables, parents can sunbathe and the bar is meters away for drinks/ice creams for the kids, food or something stronger!

The roof pool is more of a chilled area - no balls, diving or inflatables so is ideal for those wanting a more quiet pool day.

Entertainment is offered most nights at the hotel, I have to be honest and say cabaret is not my thing but many people thoroughly enjoyed it, any noise ends at 11pm so again don't be scared by the "noisy all night" reviews!

Our favorite night was Wednesday "pool party night" - it was great, free hot snacks and sangria, excellent music by a professional DJ Ali ranging from old skool to current day, Amy who by day runs the reception, answers any questions, acts as tourist information and even sends your post cards off, and is an avid bingo fan by night turns into lifeguard and pool party leader!! The pool party is a must do and should be made a law in malta!!!!! Thank you for being so helpful Amy : )

Beach - Mellieha has the best beach hands down, sun beds 4 euros, sun shades 2 euros for the whole day, the water is nicely shallow and there is a lifeguard on station which is great for families piece of mind.

At the hotel there is a separate booking desk run by an outside company, here are a couple of points -

The hop on - hop off malta sight seeing bus - honestly, possibly our worst day in Malta, the plus side of doing this trip was swimming in the blue grotto, the bad side was sitting on a hot old London bus with leather seats in 35 degrees for 3 hours just to get there!

DO NOT BOOK A COMINO TRIP THROUGH MALTA SIGHT SEEING if you are staying in mellieha! - if you do you will have to sit on a bus for a hour and a half head south, to get on a boat for an hour and a half to head back north past Mellieha to get to comino. Instead walk out of the hotel, turn right walk for 2/3 mins and boats leave from Mellieha - be warned, Comino is rocky rocky rocky, there is a tiny beach which is beyond packed! Comino is beautiful and is definitely worth going to for its natural beauty and snorkeling.

we booked fishing with Aquatica and horse riding before we went over the internet and both days were excellent fun for all ages and abilities.

Back to the hotel, i cannot recommend this enough, what you get for your money is far beyond what i expected, the luna supermarket is the cheapest in the area, the hotel lobby has free wifi, there are ramps and lifts for those who have mobility issues, it is a 3 star hotel offering a 5 star service. Thank you to all the staff for making our stay such a relaxing retreat.

All our love

Sue, Andie and Bailey xxx

Just returned with my grand-daugher (yesterday) from the Luna Holiday Complex. Stayed there about 8 years ago so was really looking forward to returning. WOW how things have changed. More great apartments, roof top swimming pool, entertainment, special food nights - what more could you ask for in a holiday complex! Weather was gloriously hot and as the beach is not far away, plenty of swimming was in order. The staff were excellent, nothing was too much trouble and the supermarket under the apartments was superb with everything you could need if you were in the apartments on a self-catering basis. The food in the hotel and bistro were very good and reasonably priced. All in all a great holiday and no doubt we will be returning at some point.

my fiancee and i stayed at the luna 23rd July to 2 August,on arrival ,( we arrived late evening) we were delighted to find the bar still open, friendly staff even gave us sugar and a half pint of milk we had taken our own tea bags. the room was spacious spotless nice deep mattress lovely and clean bedding, towels were changed almost every day bedding three times,. had a great view of the sea. balcony a bit on the small side, the hotel wasnt overly crowded, pools are great bar snacks are adequate for a lunchtime munch, the hotels saturday carvery was excellent ,the entertainment wasnt for us, a half hour bus ride ( thats an experience itself ) to Buggiba we found plenty bars places to eat Dianas bar has great food even exchanges currency, next door is a chinese restaurant called the great wall, again great food but service is poor, the red lion pub opposite the bus station is also recommended., my partner had dropped money in the hotel mini market we thought it had gone for good, but we went to hotel reception to explain what had happened( the mini market had since closed) cant remember her name but she rang the shop and the manager had found it and stayed behind until we went back to get it, now that is what we call customer service !!!! would recommend to others .

Room Tip: try and stay in the block where reception is room 3102 has very good views
