I couldn't fault this hotel in any way from check in to departure. Our plan was delayed and the hotel had put sandwiches and water aside for us when we arrived. The food was excellent, the view from our room tremendous, and the rooms and hotel were really clean. The maid even folded clothes we had left out.
The only thing I would say is that this may not be the hotel for clubbers as everybody was tucked up in bed by 10.30 (apart from us) and the nearest nightlife is quite a hike.

Room Tip: The whole hotel overlooks the bay so when it says a sea view room, it actually is! We found that th...

On arrival my husband and I were surprised on how tired the outside of the hotel looked - a lick of paint would do wonders. Our room was very clean and surprisingly quiet modern, with excellent views of Mellieha Bay and surrounding hillside. We went 'all inclusive' as the brochure stated it wasn't near bars etc. Food was very good, but sadly more plain English quisine rather than Maltees. Sandwiches and crisps were available throughout the day, as we enjoy a light snack at lunchtime, which meant you didn't have to go to the restaurant. Excellent drinks package, an ever flowing supply of bottled water, ice-cream, soft drinks throughout the day and alcoholic beveridges if required. Pool, gardens etc. were very good. We understand that the hotel has been taken over by the Holiday Inn Group and it appeared that renovation was underway. Hopefully it will then deserve a 4* rating. There is a Sight Seeing Bus calling at the hotel in the mornings. This is a great way of seeing the island as you can 'Hop on and Hop off' all day. I would recommend Malta has a holiday destination if you enjoy HOT Weather, wonderful scenery and plenty of history.

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms have limited sea views. Beware hot water is very hot!

Well this hotel is not what i or my boyfriend expected from a 4 star hotel, only a 3 star at best.

Rooms are really drab and dated but in fairness were clean. Reading the reviews on here i was under the impression that the hotel had undergone an refurbishment and so was really dissapointed with our room, however i later found out that this was only the rooms that Had been booked through thomson and as we had booked independantly we had been stuffed in the old rooms.

The rooms were cleaned regularly by the maids but never took away used glasses which i thought was odd? The corridor leading down to the rooms were dirty and were often littered with dead creatures that had crawled in through the windows which were always left open. Not for the faint hearted we saw cockroach wasps moths and various others, which i suppose is down to the humidity.

The pool area was ok not a problem getting a bed, however we went to the beach most days. Pool area was swarming with wasps all the time and i heard it was because the hives were attached to the hotel and the wasps were protected species so couldnt be removed? I dont know how true this is but i never had a problem and didnt get stung. The pool was very deep and after about 1 metre in from the shallow end you couldnt stand up which was dissapointing as it ment that that end was really crowded.

The food was good and my boyfriendwho is very fussy always found somthing he liked, sometimes it was really nice like the maltese baked rice or the stuffed beef. There was always a lovely selection of cakes an deserts. However the service at meal times was abit poor and found myself chasing the waitor just to order drinks, which was probably due to it being so busy. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful and inbetween meals you could help yourself to snacks, crisps, ice cream, baguettes, sandwiches. So never went hungry! Inclusive drinks were good.

Positives were stunning views across the bay, really excellent beach just 5 min walk, the hotel has its own tiny beach but we never used this.
Anne the rep was really helpful and eventhough we didnt book with thomson she didnt mind helping us booking trips ect.

This hotel is in a lovely bay and probably the best beach in malta however it feels very isolated. Its fine if you dont mind staying in the hotel day and night but if you want to go out in the evenings its 20 on the bus to buggiba, 45min to st julians and around 90 min to valletta. The bus stop is just 5min walk from the hotel but dont expect the buses to come on time we waited over an hour one night! However bus pass was good value as taxi back from st julians was 35 euro.

Have just returned from a weeks stay at the Mellieha Bay Hotel (half board) - a 70th birthday present from my husband!! - and our first visit to Malta.
The location - views from the balcony - room comfort and cleanliness - food and service - staff - pool, gardens and general facilities - were all excellent. In fact one of the best short haul holidays we have had and glorious weather to boot!!.
We used the local buses with a week's pass and visited most of the popular tourist places of interest on the island. We also took one 'organised' trip to Gozo - well worth a visit and enhanced by the services of an excellent guide.
We requested a 'quiet high floor room' beforehand and were delighted with the allocation we had.
All in all a fantastic holiday and a hotel we shall certainly reccomend to our friend and return to.
..

Room Tip: All rooms have a balcony and amazing views across the bay at no extra cost. Best location seems to...

Living locally, we stayed here over the Easter period.
Our room was one of the upgraded ones on the top floor with a stunning view. It was narrow but fine for two nights. The view really is wonderful. Generally the hotel has a strange mix of decor clearly showing where new meets old.

Hotel staff vary with overall quite an informal approach. Front reception staff lack any skill in determining who to serve and respond solely to who shouts loudest. Don't queue, just push in!
AS part of our half-board package we found the food such great value. I really must commend the kitchen staff as for mass catering it was all very edible.

Nightime entertainment was good fun, but go with reasonable expectations. It's a bit Butlins which isn't really me but I really had good fun. Disco music through the ages, a dance troupe and a Maltese crooner - you get the picture.

I would really enjoy a further stay as I ended up with a fondness for this place. It is not perfect but like an ageing pet, you can't help but love it, even if it makes a mess indoors.

Went to this large hotel set on NW side of bay, away from the town. Pool, upper and lower sea loungers only accessable by stairs. 1hr transfer from airport.
10min walk to bus stop. Good services with brilliant air con. all day ticket E2.60. Over an hour to Silema/Valletta. Is LH drive, but decided against car hire after seeing the driving and state of the roads - lots of road works underway

Main areas of hotel air conditioned, especially good in the lounge area
Rooms have 'essential' air con, balcony with views over the bay, have been refurbished and are cleaned daily.

We went All Incl with Thomson - food was okay, but below expectations.
Pool area could have been cleaner & something should be done about the wasps

Night Entertainment was also 'okay'.

Good access to watersports at Hotel. Small private beach
