Good Food good service beautiful island great time. The gardens are peaceful to walk in and for the more adventurous water sports are available on site. The public beach with all amenities is a 5 min walk from the hotel and with gently sloping shore line is good for children.

Me and my partner stayed one week all inclusive. Starting with the good- lovely views of sea, pretty gardens, clean comfortable room, whole hotel is clean, food- perfection. Now for the bad. Miles away from any life! NO entertainment!! Rip off to be honest- we are in our twenties, teamed up with an older couple (50+) and younger couples (17-20) and all of us were bored out of our brains going to bed by 10. Actually resulted in playing monopoly. If all u want to do is eat, sleep and sunbathe- this is for you. If u like music, shows etc like all other hotels everywhere have- give it a miss!! Overall- disappointing.

Great location, and whilst the hotel has been updated in some area's , still very dated. Food and rooms ok just . Would greatly benefit from 'enlightened' management , to bring it up todate. Having lived in Malta for over 10 years and returning for a holiday, interesting to see other hotels acheiving great steps forward , but not so at the Mellieha Bay Hotel. Be prepared to climb a great many steps down and up to the waterfront ! Whilst coffee making facilities in the room for one day , the 'trial' pack of coffee and tea vanished !!! Never come across this before, so bought our own. Thomson rep surprised when we raised the point. The entertianment very poor! Lots of overseas students staying , some very young , felt like a school camp at times. Overall disappointing , the Hotel has a 'mean' approach to it's guests in many ways, it could be great , but isn't.

Room Tip: Seaview is a must have!

Good location got ripped off by Thomson paid for sea view all rooms face the sea. Complained to Thomson about no entertainment and the sea view charge no refund or explanation for not having day or evening activities. I have been using Thomson holidays for any years don't think I will go with Thomson holidays again.

We arrived at the the hotel in the dark after a late Glasgow flight and woke to the most spectacular view - over Mellieha village and bay. The rooms are comfortable and clean, small but perfectly adequate balcony. Air conditioning that works- critical in the soaring heat. Water pressure poor - but a minor inconvenience.
What we loved here was how relaxed and spacious this low rise property is. It never felt busy. Beautiful gardens & lots of space by the pool and lido- no fighting for sunbeds or crammed up next to other people. You can swim straight into the bay from the private hotel grounds. No noisy animation team with blaring music or noisy kids round the pool. Lovely little beach bar down by the jetty for a cold afternoon beer- not huge on entertainment but lovely relaxed hotel. I would loved to have seen a little more traditional local food at dinner - but everything provided was tasty and fresh. We went 1/2 board and drinks were very reasonable.
Top tips? go to Gozo and visit the Azure window- take the 4 euro boat trip then jump on the bus to Xlendi for lunch. On Malta jump around the island with a weekly Arriva bus pass- 6.50 euro for a week. The Cathedral in Valletta is amazing- Also the ferry from Valletta to Sliema a bargain at 1.5 euro.

Room Tip: I ask for a top floor room (4th) Room 402. Near the lift but no noise. Great view. In the building w...

We arrived at The Mellieha Bay hotel at around 2am after a long journey from Scotland, to a very warm welcome from the reception staff, and were directed to our room which was B218 on the 2nd floor.
Our room was lovely with a very big double bed, tea & coffee making facilities, lovely clean bathroom with shower over the bath, double wardrobe and single shelved cupboard with a safe inside. We opened the balcony door and WOW the most breath taking view of the bay and beyond, we slept very well, the beds are really comfortable, and maid service is great.
Next morning we headed down for breakfast, which as with all meals at Mellieha Bay is buffet style, they serve a fantastic selection of everything you could ever want to eat in the morning and more. I will say tho that the juice is more like squash than fresh squeezed.
There are extensive gardens at the hotel, which are well kept and beautiful, including the lovely Gazebo which we had chosen for our wedding the following week.
There are 2 large pools both with children's pools, and other areas which lead down to the private beach, there was always plenty of sun loungers available.
We were on half board, so at lunch time we popped to the lobby bar for a snack which you pay with a top up card available at reception as they don't take cash at the tills.
Evening dinner has a choice of 3 main courses and carvery, usually a choice of fish, meat and vegetarian dishes and also salad bar. Desserts are a choice of 3 freshly made and also a selection of ice cream. Men must wear full length trousers for dining in the evening.
There is a small gift shop in the lobby area which sell most things including news papers, and is open most of the day and evening. If you want a large bottle of water I would recommend the beach stall just down from the Hotel entrance, its closer than the nearest shop, which is situated in the Dutch Village, just along the beach on the right.
There is a great bus service from just along the road from the hotel you can get a day ticket for just 2.50 euros, this will take you anywhere on the island and you can hop on and off any bus.
I have nothing but praise for this hotel, which is undergoing quite a bit of re modernisation.
As I said previously, we had chosen this hotel for our wedding ceremony and it certainly didn't disappoint. I had been a bit apprehensive about getting married so far from home and not knowing what to expect, but I needn't have worried as the hotel wedding coordinator Amanda did a fantastic job of planning every last detail, even down to the table decorations and pretty bows on the chairs. The walk down to my wedding ceremony through the gardens and down to the gazebo was just beautiful. (I had worried about not having an isle to walk down, but this was even better) The ceremony was done by the lovely registrar Amanda Gretch , and we had hired a local photographer Edmunds Mierins, who produced some fantastic photographs of our special day. I really cant thank every one enough for making our day so special including our 16 guests, and would highly recommend a holiday or wedding at this hotel.

Room Tip: Blocks A & B are the best.

We got to the hotel 4 hours before check in and thankfully our room was ready so they let us have it early. I don't think they know what 'ready' means. We got into the room and the bathroom was still dirty and there was no towels. The bed sheets had hair in! However we was so excited to be in malta we just went straight out and explored.
We came back for showers before going for a evening meal and the shower was so weak and the water pressure was terrible and the water was always cold so I tried to run a bath and it took 45 minutes to get it half full! the walls were so thin every evening I heard our neighbours arguing! The hotel beach was black and not like in the pictures. The breakfast was okay if you got
There early, I'm glad we didn't go all in as we heard bad things about the evening food! You also need to be fit to stay at this hotel also! As we had to walk past 30 rooms to get to ours! I found the staff really unhelpful and quite rude. Also the first night I ordered a cocktail; blue loogaN, the bar man put probably a triple shot of vodka, triple shot of blue cq to a tiny amount of pineapple juice it was so strong it was undrinkable and I got charged €16 for a undrinkable drink! The best part of this hotel is the pool and the sunbed if you want to be lazy one day. As a young couple we didn't stay in at the hotel much but we was disappointed in the money we had spent that we didn't get to relax when we was there because of noise, weak showers, rude staff and many more reasons. As I said if it a place to lay your head at night it's found as one good thing is the bed were comfortable considering everything else!
