My family stayed here for a fortnight and had a thoroughly enjoyable time. The staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel is clean and the gardens stunning. All rooms have a sea view as the hotel is built on the east facing side of Mellieha bay looking over and up to Mellieha village, this is one of the best views I have ever had on a holiday. Food was plentiful and of excellent quality, we had my 5 year old nephew with us and if he fancied nuggets and chips this was produced with ease, nothing was too much trouble. The only downside was the evening entertainment, the indoor club was closed and entertainment moved to the pool area furthest from the main hotel complex. This left the majority of people sitting with no entertainment, many of whom entertained themselves with packs of cards. When we did go to see what was provided it was cheesy singers doing country and western or Tom Jones material, reminded me of my childhood in the seventies! The hotel needs to open up a proper area for teenagers with modern music playing and fully functioning pool table/ table tennis and games room. Despite this we would go again as overall it provides a good base for a satisfying holiday.

Only there for 4 days (wedding party (Gemma and Marcus) Fantastic hotel - top class. Plenty of sunbeds and a choice of swimming pools. Beautiful gardens. All rooms have sea views which are out of this world! The food was 5* and the staff were so welcoming, helpful and friendly - nothing was too much trouble. The wedding ceremony was so professional and the setting was beautiful. The sandy beach is only a five minute walk away- again loads of sunbeds and very child friendly with a fabulous breaze from the sea. No wasps,no jelly fish - brilliant! Cannot fault this hotel - very sad to leave and wish we had booked for 2 weeks!

Room Tip: Ask for 2nd floor and above for spectacular views

After reading other reviews we arrived to discover that we were glad we hadn't taken any notice of them. Yes it was like stepping back into 70/80's with the room furniture but there was plenty of storage and they had made the best of the original features. Our room was of a good size and very quiet, comfortable and clean with magnificent views from all rooms.Wonderful gardens where weddings take place. To have a kettle, fridge and hairdryer on half/full board was very useful. There are windsurfing and diving centres, a marvellous place for doing both. The food was good and the staff friendly. Very good value for money and a thoroughly enjoyable stay.

We stayed here for 1 week half-board at end July/August and overall there were more positives: stunning views, good size swimming pool(s) and location for the beach and sea; great food, courteous staff, excellent room cleanliness and air-con very welcoming! Although small, the room had recently been refurbished. The daytime entertainment by the larger pool was fun too!

Now for the 'could do better' part-as previous recent reviewers have mentioned the dress code for men in the restaurant is a bit bizarre and unfair as some women were wearing shorts or short skirts whilst a diner who arrived in knee-length shorts on crutches was refused entry and had to return later in trousers ..

Evening entertainment was very amateur and no where near enough with people dressing up for dinner and then having nowhere to go! ...Some more darts and table tennis bats would be good for using in the evening with enough lighting so that these facilities and the pool table could be used. Not clear as to why the Limelight lounge and inside pool are not used in the summer? Bit cumbersome also that you have to sign for drinks at the bars but can't pay with cash too...?

Overall an enjoyable holiday and we will go again and probably try All-Inclusive pending review of the restaurant trouser policy!

We have just returned from a week in the Mellieha Bay Hotel. I e-mailed before we went and asked for a room near the lift or entrances as my daughter had a knee injury. The room allocated to me, my daughter and granddaughter was the nearest to the pool, restaurant and other facilities. We were very grateful for this excellent choice.
The room was adequate, the bedding and towels were clean and changed regularly. It was not five star but we had not paid five star prices so were satisfied. The hairdryer was poor and cut out when hot. The TV worked but only showed news in English. The bathroom had a very good shower over the bath but unfortunately flooded the floor when used as the glass screen was too short.
We were half board so cannot comment on the lunches. We bought sandwiches from the bar, which were good. The choice of food at breakfast was excellent, well cooked and tasty. The evening meals were as good as any five star hotel we had stayed in. There was always a good choice and we were never disappointed. The only disappointment was the barbecue in the Jamaica Inn. The food was good but the wasps thoroughly spoiled the meal. They were swarming around us so much that my daughter and granddaughter left their food and returned to the main building.
The grounds around the hotel were very pretty and well-kept and there were many pretty walkways.
The pool we used was the one nearest the restaurant and that was very clean even though we were there during a very busy period. The view were spectacular. The houses, churches across the bay and the sky blue water made a picturesque backdrop when sunbathing.
The staff were very helpful and friendly. All in all we had a very enjoyable time in the Mellieha Bay Hotel and would recommend it to others.
