“good hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 June 2014

this hotel is on the northern tip of Malta in a bay of its own with private beach,it has water sports, diving etc but it is a quiet hotel with nice facilities, three outdoor seawater pools, one very nice indoor pool, the beauty of this hotel is it is ideal for people wanting a quiet getaway, the hotels restaurant is good, the food very good and the bar although it gets a little crowded is very nice.Next door to the hotel is the Oceanclub which is a timeshare complex with one,two bedroom apartment although some will sleep six people, although it is timeshare you can book them for self catering holidays all in all a very good complex,I go there myself

Room Tip: rooms on the western side have wonderful sea view the others have views over the Malta landscape

Ramla bay resort is a really happy buzzing place. The staff were all lovely, and many of the negative comments that I read about have been addressed in what seems to be an overwhelming 'can to' attitude.

It was lovely to sit on our balcony overlooking the sea and the view to Gozo and Comino with a bottle of wine after the children had gone to sleep, not overlooked by loads of other high rise resorts. The bus service in malta is so good that if you needed to get anywhere it was in easy reach, so this location was perfect (the 222 to siliema was offered great views then you could arrive at Valletta by a short but picturesque ferry)

As our children did not like the sea water pool outside we were delighted with the indoor option, which bracing but otherwise perfect (we did try to respect their policy of it being a relaxation pool) and otherwise had the beach pretty much to ourselves but that may change once the bar by the beach is more up and running as most people stayed by the outdoor pool and bar.

We food was always fresh and there was a good variety - with excellent fresh fruit and vegetables (I lived off the tomatoes). At this time of year the only restaurant was the buffet which was fairly frenetic with crowds balancing plates piled high with food. The food ranged from being interesting to the more basic but safe catering fare. I could not really fault it or the lovely staff but despite being half board we still longed to eat out at somewhere smaller and calmer that could focus on quality rather than quantity.

When we arrived late with two young children the staff could not have been nicer, after we struggled to get all our luggage to reception they helped us up to our room and then brought us drinks and olives to our room. Sadly the option was not there for room service after a certain time and it would have been great to have had a luggage trolley by the door to help us in. This is a niggle and the staff did their best.

We developed a running joke that if you needed anything it was available at reception for €20 - perhaps a little unfair but after discovering that the lock for the safe came at a supplement, ditto beach robes and tea making facilities. I can't remember the real cost and paying for beach towels is not great problem it just made us laugh, almost as much the evening entertainment (which I don't think was the aim).

Would I recommend? If you like all inclusive and otherwise want to avoid the hustle and bustle of a town this would be ideal. It is great value for amazing service. We had the best holiday, but in hindsight we would have preferred somewhere a little smaller without any amplified entertainment.

Room Tip: Room 188 was great, away from the noise of the evening entertainment, balcony overlooking the sea an...

We came to Malta for a friends wedding & managed to book Ramla at the last minute. So glad we did!! A beautiful, luxurious haven, the staff are amazing (not one has frowned at my very awkward 2 year old!), every need has been met, the room is excellent and cleaned brilliantly every day, the facilities are second to none & food is beautiful! We will be back as soon as possible & probably for many years to come! Highly recommended!

Just got back from a weeks stay at the Ramla Bay Hotel.
Overall we are all very happy with the entire stay.
On arrival we were greeted by helpful and polite reception staff who were very pleased to tell us that there is now free wi-fi all over the hotel and in all bedrooms. We also heard this being said to other people checking-in.
I had read reviews which contradicted this so I wasn't surprised to find that we couldn't get wi-fi in our room. My husband explained that he needed to do some work and wi-fi in the bedroom would be an advantage, and they happily moved us to a different room which had full wi-fi. Perfect!
The room was a great size, as we were a family of 4 in one room, and the sea view we paid extra for was definately worth it.
There was no shortage of places to be during the day, whether on the brilliant private beach, swimming pool with excellent splash pool for little ones, or in the quieter rocky areas. We never had a problem finding a sun lounger.
The animation team were lovely with the kids, whether walking round with games or taking photos.
Lino at the bar was extremely friendly and professional.
The staff at the waterspout centre were also fantastic. We hired peddles and canoes and took a speed boat trip to Comino. They looked after us very well and we're extremely careful when taking us out on the boat with our young children.

If I was going to pick up on a few negatives, I would say the staff in the main buffet restaurant needed to be a bit more welcoming and more proactive.
Once we selected, or was shown to a table (it was a bit hit and miss which we had to do) the staff were slow to take drinks orders. We often had to call someone over after a long wait. Cutlery was never replaced so I was contantly having to walk around asking for another fork/knife/spoon or taking them from other vacant tables.
Twice in the evenings the ladies toilet in the lobby/lounge area was always out of toilet paper in all three cubicles and the paper hand towel machine was empty with the bins overflowing. I did report it to reception both times and they did respond quickly, however it was a shame that they were relying on residents to notify them rather than checking and cleaning the facilities regularly.
These things could be improved upon but didn't spoil our time.
The animation team were lovely with the kids, whether walking round with games or taking photos.
Lino at the bar was extremely friendly and professional.

A great holiday!

We selected this hotel ahead of Paradise Bay as it was our honeymoon and Ramla Bay looked a little more scenic and had better reviews. We are very pleased that we paid a little extra for the experience.
When we arrived at the hotel at about 1am we were immediately impressed with the cleanliness of the room and the view from the veranda.
We have stayed at many All Inclusive hotels and the food at the Ramla Bay is probably the best we have found. Normally we look to have a couple of meals out of the hotels, but on this stay we have decided that to get an equivalent meal in a restaurant would be very difficult and costly.
The staff throughout the hotel have been polite and friendly and as I so like a beer or two I tend to get to know the bar staff quite well. They have all been exceptional but the ones I have spoken to most are Lino, Chris and Martin who are a credit to the hotel.
The only downside to the hotel is that it is a little isolated and if the evenings entertainment isn't to your liking there are not many options. I think the entertainment could be improved as in my mind as a disco/karaoke DJ they have been little more than karaoke singers. This has not in any way spoiled my time at the hotel and would not stop me from returning.
There are three swimming pools and a small sandy beach. There are sunbeds everywhere and we have never had a problem finding beds where we can settle either by the pool, on the beach or in little secluded areas around the rocks.
The animation team are fun and friendly even though we have not joined in with the aqua gym and other games that they have been arranging.
This has been a wonderful stay in Malta and we would recommend the Ramla Bay Resort very highly.

I want to start this review by stating that this hotel is really good value. From the reviews we read before booking, it seems as other reveiwers might have had expected a five star luxury resort, which it isn't. It did, however, rank as one of our favourite hotels during a multiple stop tour of Malta and Gozo. The location is superb, right next to the cliffs with a beach right of the hotel grounds. It's roughly a 3 km hike to Mellieha, but you have a couple of different options if you want to stay close to the hotel but still eat out. The little hotel convenience store seemed to have pretty good prices too, and we found everything we were looking.

As for the rooms, we paid a little extra to get a sea view room. It was definitely worth it. We had a huge balcony overlooking Gozo, Comino and the sea. There were some details to the rooms that could have been fixed pretty easily, which would have made it feel even better. As an example, the bathroom door in our room was locked with a litte hatch, rather than a regular lock. Still, it was very spacious, very clean and we slept really well in the beds.

The service was really good, we were greated with smiles and the hotel staff helped us alot with directions etc. We were also amazed to hear that it had a 94% occupancy rate whilst we were visiting, we never once had to wait for food and we had no problems finding chairs around the pool or cliff area.

All in all, both my girlfriend and I would definitely recommend this place if your either travelling as a familly (especially with children) or if you want to just want to get away for a bit.

Room Tip: Go for a sea view room. They were really big, had a huge balcony and offered amazing views!

Very friendly hotel. Good helpful staff. Easy to access swimming pool if you are disabled - ramps and easy to negotiate paths and ramps.
Food was well presented and selection extensive tho fish was a bit overlooked for my liking.
Great to have boats for hire right on the hotel beach. Ferry to Gozo about a mile walk away. Good mobile shop just outside the Riviera hotel about five minutes walk away. Overall, great place to stay so long as you don't want to go into Valetta every day which takes around an hour to an hour and a half. Might be a good idea to hire a car! I'm told there are around 1,000 crashes a month...

Room Tip: I think rooms look out to sea on both sides of the hotel. We had a great view of the setting sun ove...
