“Excellent Hotel and Staff”
Reviewed 19 December 2011

We have just returned from a week at the Riveria Spa and Resort(23 - 29/11/11) having booked it through Voyage Prive. It was the first time we haved used the company and although we did the research we were a little apprehensive, we did not need to be, they delivered everything they promised and more. The travel tickets and vouchers were sent direct to our e-mail and there is an additional copy stored in your account at VP.

Flights were with Thomson as part of the deal, very comfortable and no problems with them. On arrival met by the transfer driver from A2B, taken direct to the hotel with some excellent information on route of what to see and how best to see it. On arrival at the hotel we were to late for food, we had booked the fully inclusive deal, but the room made up for it, they had upgraded us in a room which overlooked the main pool and gave us a fantastic view to sea and Gozo.

In the bar we met Karen one of the bar staff, she was very apologetic regarding the food and explaned that she could only provide a sandwich which unfortunately we would have to pay for, but drinks were plentiful. We didn't mind paying the small price for the sandwich which was huge and very tasty. Karen even insisted in providing me with a drink after time to apologise for the delay in service.

We then had 7 days of excellent food, drink and service at the resort; the staff were so friendly and helpful. The quality of the food and service left no reason for complaint and it was always to a high standard. The staff always offered the highest standards, in particular Ivan one of the managers, it transpired he was a champion cocktail waiter who had represented Malta in many international competitions, achieveing first place in the highest level.

We also met Joe a bar tender on many an evening, his humour and his service showed how much the clients are repected.

We also had access to the resorts Spa and indoor centre. We were shown around by Colin and ex-pat who is the Spa manager, his enthusiasm was self evident and I know he will not mind me saying for a 62 year old he is an excellent example. The facilities in the spa were really good and the fact it was in the package allowed us to enjoy times indoors when the weather was not to our advantage.

Throughout the hotel all the staff took time to chat and make us feel welcome, they are all very proud of Malta and this is understandable.

Whilst there we met another couple who had also used VP and had failed to get the transfer. Being unable to access their account I contacted VP on their behalf. The company dealt with the query very effectively and sent the required voucher to me direct.

We visited many of the known areas of Malta and Gozo using the public transport on each occassion, not only is this cheap but very effective and the best way to see the island. We found that not only are the people nice and friendly, but when eating out it is value for money and not the usual increased prices for tourists.

The area we stayed was remote, but we knew what it would be like and what we wanted but had good transport links. It was also close to the Gozo ferry terminal. We visited Gozo again using public transport; it is a really nice island.

Would we recommend Malta and Gozo, definatly, a great holiday with much to do and not enough time to do it. The weather was good until the last day when terrential thunderstorms hit the island causing flooding and landslides, the worst the locals had experinced for many years. The pickup driver arrived early to ensure our safe transfer due to road conditions, which were not good, he was polite, informative and most importantly a great driver.

The Riveria Resort and Spa is shortly to be taken over by another company. The staff are excited and I have no doubt with their experience, professionalism and friendly service they will ensure the resort continues to deliver high standards.

Thank you all for the lovely holiday, well done, not only to the resort and staff, but to Voyage Prive and their staff.

I stayed here for five nights in November, very nice hotel, clean rooms, very tidy, comfortable and pleasant . I felt like home and I am not exaggerating. Staff make the difference here they are surely professionals and multilingual they know well how to make their guests feel like home. Special thankx 2 Maria ( Executive Housekeeper) Rita and Sandra girls you are the stars of this place make my stay as pleasant as possible:) .Breakfast is rich, plenty of choices (everything is of excellent quality and taste and always under the supervision of professional staff like Rita and Sandra) and many more. The fitness center is ok with a pool. the outside pool is huge and good for relax. I'll certainly come back, truly can’t wait to return shortly.

Sebastian.

I have just come back from a week at The Rivera Spa Resort,it did not matter to me that it is the very north of the island, and quiet, the hotel is very clean, the spa itself is an added bonus with a Gym fully equitted and also a warm spa pool, plus two bubbly pools inside and two outside pools, the food was average, but edible, there are a collection of beautifull cats outside, that apparently have been spayed and vaccinated, they ask for food, and I advise any would be visitors to this hotel, to make sure you have some tins, packets or indeed bags of dried biscuits to offer them all, I myself placed a few containers just over the road near some lamposts for which people can put in fresh water for them, and a couple more are around the side where some cars are parked, as there is another group of cats residing .

Room Tip: we had a ground floor room overlooking the swimming pool, nice and quiet

Had a very good deal via an offer on the web, stayed inclusive for 7 days, weather a bit off on a couple of days, on the final day the heavens opened and waterfalls appeared from nowhere with roads blocked for a short while. the location is not helped at present by the major road works, improving the main road from the Gozo ferry terminal.
It was an enjoyable visit, the hotel was clean and the staff in the main quite friendly, and the reception desk staff very helpful. The restaurant service was very good, however as always, after a couple of days the food on offer appeared limited apart from the weekend when more guests are present, I appreciate that with fewer guests at this time of year it would be a waste to have a vast range. On a personal level, I found as with most other hotels I have visited, it seems to be impossible to have food kept hot whilst on display. The indoor pool gym and other facilities were very good, but do be careful with the weight lifting equipment if you are not used to using it. The bus service is a bonus, the stop is outside the hotel, an all day ticket costs 2.6 euro's or a 7 day one 12 euro's, with several bus routes to chose from.
As an animal person I found the cat that sits on the hotel step a delight along with all the others, its was good to see guests providing titbits, one German lady had a bag full of cat biscuits with which she did the rounds, please don't forget cats also need to drink, they are quite happy with a bowl of fresh water. I would recommend this hotel.

Have recently returned from the Riviera Hotel after an excellent holiday. Am especially grateful to the very caring staff who dealt with a very serious health emergency in a most ptofessional and kind way.

I stayed in this hotel in November 2011.
I had a twin room and paid only £44 (through hostel bookers.com) for the two of us to stay. The price was not for all inclusive -room only.
It was a very spacious and clean room.
We had a very warm welcome from Scottish Mary at the reception who was very helpful with all our queries!
We were able to leave our bags in their luggage room before checking in. We were also able to use the luggage room the day we checked out as we wanted to go to Comino island without our big bags.
The hotel is a smart looking place and I have absolutely no complaints (considering how much we paid to stay there!) I would suggest that our room could have done with a little more maintenance to bring it up to the 4* standard - but that's only being picky.
There were plenty of options for dining at the hotel. And we had free use of the swimming pool (outdoor and indoor-neither heated).
If you get a deal when you book (we had the Spa Winter Package included in our booking price) make sure you take a print off of this as they did not seem to be aware of our offer!
We really enjoyed our stay there and was very pleasantly surprised at how nice it was-particularly as we only paid £22 per person for the twin room!

Directions:
Currently there is a Diversion in place to the northern part of Malta (Cirkewwa-ferry terminal). You can catch the bus X1 which will take you to the north - it stops for about 10 minutes at the fry terminal and then head back down South following coast right past the hotel in Marfa Bay.
Or you could walk the short distance (5 mins) from the ferry terminal to the hotel.
The Riviera Resort Hotel & spa is one of the two hotels in Marfa Bay. It is very easy to find as the bus passes right by it & there are hardly any other buildings in Marfa Bay.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view, a room that does not have a sea view looks over the landscape-so neither is bad...

Having been greeted by a very helpful Mary, at reception.
My mothers birthday was celerbrated in style at the bistro. Both Timur and Alan were very helpful.

The menu offers a wide range of food at reasonable prices, the food was well presented and enjoyed by all.

The service was excellent. Thank you for a lovely evening
