I grew up with Popeye. He was (and is) a hero of mine. I have been here before, some years ago, and I must say it's almost like a pilgrimage, it was every bit as good this time. What a beautiful setting, to be in Sweet Havens (to quote from the song - "God must surely love us!"). I sometimes wonder if I am the only person in England who loved the film! Robin Williams looked exactly like Popeye did in real life. The characters who performed for us here in Popeye's village were hard working and entertaining. "Popeye" was very welcoming, "Olivsk" looked lovely and danced brilliantly, more than a passing resemblance to Shelley Duval's brilliance, but "Bluto" needs to eat more red meat to fit into the roll, and put on more weight. (Only joking, Bluto!)
This place is not only worth the admission fee, it is worth the air fare from England. If you think I'm exaggerating I can only repeat the words of the master "I YAM WHAT I YAM!!"
